    JoyToKey With 360 Controller
    For a while I was unable to get my controller to work in-game. I asked around and everyone else's seemed to work just fine. My Xbox 360 Controller simply WOULD NOT work on MapleLegends. It worked on GMS, Isaac, Chrome, everything else. Digging around a bit I found that the config file for the JoyToKey game profile needed to be tweeked a bit. It worked perfectly for me, and I'm guessing there are others out their having the same issue. For some reason PS controllers seem to be fitted better for JoyToKey, but for those having issues with your Xbox controller, here ya go!

    First of all, if you want to know how to set up your 360 controller so you can use it in Maple, you'll need a program called JoyToKey, I used the Free version. It's not a big download, so no worries.

    Once you have that open, click File > New > MapleLegends > Ok
    You can name your file whatever you want, but for the tutorial I'll use this.

    Go to File > Open File Folder in Explorer

    Close completely out of JoyToKey. Hitting the x button won't always work. It stays on the tray. So File > Exit or close it from your task manager.

    In the File Folder find your MapleLegends.cfg and open with Notepad. Copy and paste the following, save and exit notepad:

    [General]
    FileVersion=37
    NumberOfJoysticks=2
    Use8Axes=1

    Back in JoyToKey, you can set up the buttons however you wish. You will need to associate the profile with MapleLegends. To do this in JoyToKey Settings > Associate profile with applications:

    Click Add.
    Application name can be whatever you wish
    Application Path is the direct path to your MapleLegends .exe. Mine is
    ‪C:\MapleLegends\MapleLegends.exe
    Associated profile is whatever you made your profile name to be. In the tutorial it was MapleLegends.

    Click Ok, and enjoy your controller ^^.
    I am currently testing this on a Pants-On-Head, Potato Edition PC. I am having issues with going left, but it might just be me. I'll confirm settings tomorrow on my better rig.

    For Those Buffing Struggles

    People complain all the time about there not being enough buttons on the controller for attacks AND buffs. SO... here's the solution!

    Keep one of your buttons to switch profiles! There are TWO configurations for your buttons. If you set one of your keys to switch to the other, you can use one for attacks, and one for buffs! To do this, select the button you want to use to switch between profiles. (preferably the least used button as you will only have to buff every now and then) Go to Edit > Special and under SHIFT Function, select JoyStick 2. You can then edit Joystick 2 settings with your buffs.

    You will have to hold that button down while you buff though

    If You're Extra Lazy, Like Me
    I started going out on JoyToKey and found a neat little thing for lazy people like me. Don't feel like getting up to spend that 5 AP or up yours skills? Here, have a mouse!

    On Stick1 go to the "Mouse Tab" and put cursor movement. I put all of mine of 15 or -15 respectfully according to up/down/left/right.

    Left would be Cursor Movement -15
    Right would be 15
    Up is Wheel Rotation 15
    Down is -15

    To assign left click, choose the controller button you want, and in the Keyboard tab under "Assign Special Keys" choose Mouse L-click then click Assign
    For right click, choose Mouse R-Click and Assign

    If you want to use your left click and right click, associate them with one of your macros
    Mouse wheel settings can be found in the same Mouse tab by using the "Wheel Rotation" settings. 15 for up, -15 for down.

    And if you feel the need, bring up your On-Screen Keyboard on your PC to type from there :D I'll be doing that occasionally if I want to kick back. Easy way to do this is by Windows Key + R > osk

    I've been using keysticks. It's only got a 30 day trial so after that ends I'll try out this one :)

    This seems like too much work, compared to programs like xpadder, which works perfect with xbox controllers and I have been using that for years to play Maplestory with controllers, another plus is that if you have 2 analog stick you can bind one of them as a mouse for extra laziness

    You can also bind your mouse in joy2key. It's actually in my tutorial.

    Not every can buy xpadder. Some don't have the money, some don't want to spend the money, some don't have a credit card, some don't want a cracked version, etc. I agree xpadder is better, but for those who would rather a free version, this is why this is here. :3

    Overall though it's really worth getting your controller to work, It makes the long grinds so much easier and less painful (literally).

    Joy to key worked perfectly on PS4. I would have liked the touchpad to work as the mouse but it doesnt register movement only presses. I have
    X - Jump,
    O[]/\ as attacks,
    D Pad for walking,
    L3 for my 3 Ranger Buffs.
    R1 for Inferno,
    L1 for pupper,
    Right Analog for mouse movement/R3 Click, PS button for ESC, L2/R2 for HP/MP pot, Options for pickup.
    Left analog Up/Down for scrolling. Left/Right unassigned.
    Share unassigned
    think that's all the buttons.

    In case anyone wants a comfortable set up.
    I have a pet so thats why my pickup is so off. Its uncommon to press

    5 years later. You can "run as administrator" for joy2key and skip all of this.

    At least it worked for me.

    Right click Joy2Key > Run as administrator. I also had Maplelegends running before opening J2K like this.

    Is there anyway to not make up/down so sensitive on an analogue stick? like a way to create a deadzone so that any slight movement of the stick doesn't immediately active the key bind?

    Keep running up and down ladders and not jumping right because my stick is slightly in the up or down position
