Legends+ Client Mod

Hi Kalash,

As much as I'd love to add it, it doesn't auto-update as I don't have a file host for it. You'll always find the newest non-Donor version of Legends+ in the original post, though!

 

Nothing much to release just yet, but thought I'd share a few more screenshots of the current progress from the latest donor build. It's still very WIP, but I removed the additional UI at the bottom after a few suggestions and the majority of the bugs have been ironed out at this point.

16:9


While there's theoretically no limit on the resolutions supported, the final resolutions will still probably be limited to 16:10 (960x600) and 16:9 (1066x600), as unlimited resolutions really just looks... well, bad, for a game initially designed around 4:3, and fixing those kinds of issues is a bit out of scope.

The DX8.1 error is typically because you don't have DirectPlay installed:

1. Click Start
2. Type 'Turn Windows Features on or off'
3. Select 'Legacy Components'
4. Select 'DirectPlay'
5. Click 'OK'!

You might have to reboot after that!

In that case it sounds like you don't have some DX9 features installed. They're normally installed by the Legends+ installer, but very rarely it fails. Could you try installing the below:

It shouldn't matter where you install it to, as long as it installs without error! Occasionally it fails on systems which have the 2010 C++ Runtimes already installed, which normally causes that issue you mentioned.

I have no plans to release a Mac client, I'm afraid! I'm not a Mac user and have no knowledge of the OS at all so it'd be way out of scope for this project.

What's the error you receive while trying to multi-client? If it's something I can address with a client hack I can always look into it, but I'm not sure I've heard of any multi-clienting issues (other than the Legends+ Config Tool saying "you can't save changes while the game's running", or something, which kind of has to be there ).

As it is right now, the widescreen/ultrawidescreen resolution settings are currently only in experimental builds which I distribute to tool donors, as I wouldn't really recommend their use right now. There's a fair few bugs that put this way off 'stable' at the moment, so it's largely more for keeping up to date with development/providing tool feedback.

The 'ultrawide' option has quite a bit more view distance than the last images I provided, at a 32:15 aspect ratio:
