Back Jump Shots: is it still a thing?

Had a nostalgic chat with a friend about the good old days when we still played MapleSEA, when the topic of nifty tricks like the back jump shot came up. It was something I only pulled off a couple of times as a cleric using magic claw.

And just in case anyone doesn't know what a back jump shot is:


Just curious: does anyone still use this trick?

 

Alas... I had a feeling such tricks would be pretty much forgotten and it seems that my gut feeling was pretty accurate.

I remember learning about it for the first time during Kerning PQ, where mages and archers were taught how to jump shoot and time their jumps correctly to avoid King Slime's earthquake attacks. Back jump shots were the hallmark of an experienced player who could easily kite King Slime while taking minimal (if any at all) damage.

 

Yea, would have to exclude sins from that. And now gunners too.

 

Snowshoes prevent backward jump attacks? Didn't know that.

But yea, it's super rare to find people who bother doing it because it's not worth the effort. I find it so sad... I know the game has to accommodate for its younger players, but still I like games that reward skilled players for pulling off feats like this.

 

It'll be such a grave sin for a sin to not jump shoot.
