The boxes have a random chance of dropping from every monster in the world as well as from the random exchange with the Big Cream Puffs.
The Slime box contains level 35 Maple Weapons
The Yeti box contains level 43 Maple Weapons
The Pink Bean box contains level 64 Maple Weapons
The Mushroom box contains miscellaneous Maple Items.

When you open it, you get one item at random from the pool.
But no, there aren't specific mobs dropping specific weapons.

To give the most info I can related to Monsterbook:

Basically all the code is now finished. The job left is for me to add all the drops to the mobs. This however I won't do the lazy way and copy paste it by making all mobs have same chance to drop a card. Instead a lot of effort will be spend to priority card drops based on the mob, the spawn, the amount of time people spend on the mob (ex: Skelegons more rare), and so on.

Once that is done expect Monsterbooks to get released

Additional info such as which cards will be available and if new cards will ever be released, or region exclusives (ex: MapleSEA did have Singapore cards) will be disclosed at the time of release.
