    Hello everyone,
This guide has been outdated for quite a long time as I originally made it back in 2018 when I was in the mid-game.

I sincerely could have elaborated a bit further the in-game practices of the classes (especially for Shadowers), but I believe I have covered it and MUCH more in my Efficiency Guide right *HERE*.

This guide is divided into 3 sections; Night Lords, Shadowers, and F.A.Q.
Under each class section, you can read a summary of the class which includes its pros and cons, so you can decide which one you wanna go for.

    * Friendly reminder that this guide is very old, and I might have missed updating a few things, so if you spot anything feel free to lmk.

    [IMG] Night Lord [IMG]
Night Lords are supposedly the strongest bossing class in MapleStory (aside from MapleLegends' stupidly buffed Corsairs; but we're still stronger in most bosses). With the right funding and Sharp Eyes buff this class can hit mad numbers on single targets. Additionally, this class has Flashjumping ability which allows them to move faster than a ninja.

    Pros:
    Damage:

Night Lords are supposedly the strongest class in the game when it's coming down to single targets. With the right fundings and Sharp Eyes buff [IMG], this class can hit the highest Damage-Per-Minute in the game (on a single target).

    Avoidability:
This class almost never gets hit. Just like Shadowers, Night Lords' main stat is LUK, which gives them insane avoidability at higher levels. Most of the time mobs and bosses will simply Miss their attacks on you, but even when the attacks do register you have a skill at 4th job advancement called Shadow Shifter [IMG] that gives you 30% chance to dodge that hit automatically!

    Mobility:
When people hear the word "Mobility" in this game they simply can't help it but think of Night Lords. Night Lords has a skill called Flash Jump [IMG] that allows them to leap like a mad ninja from one place to another. Allowing them to move around about 4 times faster than any other class!

    Simple and Straightforward:
Night Lords are simple, you don't have to learn any complicated combo or anything. Simply hold your Triple Throw and make sure your buffs are activated.

    Desired in Bosses:
Due to Night Lords' insane damage and avoidability, they are absolute gods when it's coming down to bossing. Generally, in most bosses, people would rather have only Night Lords with 1 Bowman and Bishop.

    Cons:
    Mobbing:
This job can't mob for shit, your only Mobbing skill is Avenger [IMG], which has low damage and can't be used if the mobs are touching you. People would hate grinding with you, means you would have to rely on leech (self-leech is recommended)

    Fundings:
This job is hella expensive especially after the Shadow Claw nerf, you'll have to buy around 1~3 sets of MTKs along with 8~10 sets of Balanced Furies on top of your already expensive claw.

    Washing:
HP wash is MANDATORY, and you want to have at least 13,000 HP by level 163 if you're actually serious about your character.

    Needy Lords:
The damage of this class is absolute trash without the Sharp Eyes buff [IMG] (4th job Bowman buff), it nearly gives you +40% more damage output.

    Summary:
    Bossing:
    10/10
    Mobbing: 4/10
    Mobility: 10/10
    Utility: 6/10
    General Score: 9/10

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not go for a Night Lord if you do not plan to wash. I can guarantee you that you would quit the moment you realize you cannot boss while everybody around you is already bossing. I know some of you might think "I probably won't reach that level anyway" well I can promise you that you might find yourself at a higher level than you expected after a short while.

If you're mainly into bossing and don't want to wash as much you might want to make a Hero instead, check the F.A.Q section.

So, you have decided to go for a Night Lord, congratulations! It's time to choose your character AP build.

    AP Builds

    The Oldschool [IMG]
People back in the days used to split their AP into +3 LUK, +2 DEX every level so they could have worn their gear. Unfortunately, that's not the way to get strong. People simply didn't really think outside of the box on how to get stronger and played within the guidelines of Neckson.

    Summary:
    Required fundings:
    Low
    Strength (Early Game): Balanced
    Strength (End Game): Weak
Additional Info: Don't you ever go for this build unless you don't care about damage and just wanna be nostalgic and get some badass looking gear without NX.

    How To:
You don't have to know anything if you go for this build, you just use whatever is making you stronger.

    DEXless [IMG]
The more LUK you have the stronger you are, and that's what DEXless thieves are all about. Keeping their DEX at 25 and pumping all of their AP into LUK and using gear that does not require DEX.

    Summary:

Required fundings: Low-Medium (up to you).
    Strength (Early Game): Extremely Strong
    Strength (End Game): Weak-Moderate
Additional Info: This build is extremely useful at the early game, but once you stay this way until the end-game you will not be able to equip the end-game claws, resulting in a loss of a ton of damage. In other words, use this build until level 107~112.

    How To:

Get 25 DEX before you reach level 10 in order to do the first job advancement and the rest goes for LUK.

    End Game Gear:

Honestly, I was in the middle of listing an end-game gear for this build and I have just deleted it in the middle. Just don't go end-game with this build, there's absolutely no reason to do this. This is going to be a waste of my time and your money.[IMG]

    The LowDEX->DEXless [IMG]
LowDEX->Dexless build is the best build out there, you begin your journey as DEXless and slowly transition into LowDEX by adding a bit of DEX into your stats. You are going to heavily scroll your gear with DEX so eventually you'll be able to equip your end-game claw with the DEX you get from the rest of your gear along with your low base DEX. Eventually after you have an insane DEX gear you might be able to lower your DEX to the point where you're a complete DEXless again.

    Summary:

    Required fundings: Very High
Strength (Early Game): Extremely Strong, since you're a DEXless at the beginning.
    Strength (End Game): God
Additional Info: This build will get you the best result for the strongest class in this game 10/10!

    How To:

You want to start with a DEXless build in order to get a maximal damage output in the early levels. When you reach levels 107~112 you might want to start calculating how much total DEX you're going to have by level 120 along with your Horntail Pendant [IMG] and match it with the required DEX of your claw (usually 140 DEX for Red Craven, or 150 DEX for Dragon Sleeves).

    End Game Gear:
    Scarlion Helmet (DEX)
    [IMG] [IMG]

Your Scarlion Helmet should be scrolled with DEX, you want it to be anywhere above 33 DEX (preferably 36+) after scrolling.

TIP: Prepare scrolls before you enter Scarlion, this way you will be able to reloot in case you botched the scrolling part.
For starters, use 60% scrolls (x10)... and later on you can replace it and try to land some 30% + 60% on the new helm.

Another great option is the Ravana Helmet which can get up to 20 all-stats clean. You can farm 2 helmets daily, when you happen to get one with +19 and above DEX+LUK you can try to scroll it!
Spectrum Goggles / Raccoon Mask / White Racoon Mask / Broken Glasses
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Your Eye Accessory can be any of the listed above, it should simply have as much DEX as possible. People do tend to Chaos Scroll Spectrum Goggles, so it's easier to find them with high DEX, although any of the above could work.. as long as they have some nice amount of DEX (for end-game I'd say about 6~9 DEX).
    ?

Your Face Accessory can be anything, from the emotional Masks for level 25 to Branch Noses to Rat Mouthes. It just has to be at least +7~8 DEX.
    ?
Your Earrings can be anything, just make sure they have at least +11 DEX.

TIP: Glittering Altaire Earrings starts with +2 All Stats, I would recommend doing Ellin PQ 50 times in order to get them, and scroll them with 60% DEX. Hopefully you'll manage to get +10 DEX, combined with the additional +2 LUK, this is even better than a +12 DEX earrings.
(Green/Red/Black) Pirate Top (or Blouse) / (Brown/Red) Osfa Suit
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Requirement: 120 DEX / 130 DEX
Red/Black Pirate: These are the most common options, you want to hit at least +20 LUK and +2 DEX with those.

Green Pirate: Less common option, you want to hit at least +16 LUK and +6 DEX with those.

Brown Osfa: You want to hit at least +19 LUK and +3 DEX with those.

Red Osfa: Best option, you want to hit at least +20 DEX and +3 DEX with those.

TIP: Start with the Pirate set, most likely the red one and slowly advance to the Red Osfa option after you've done with your Claw, Gloves, Cape, Helmet, and possibly Face Accessory.
(Green/Red/Black) Pirate Bottom (or Skirt) / (Brown/Red) Osfa Pants
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Requirement: 120 DEX / 130 DEX

Red/Black Pirate: These are the most common options, you want to hit at least +16 DEX and +4 LUK with those.

Green Pirate: Less common option, you want to hit at least +18 DEX and +2 LUK with those.

Brown Osfa: You want to hit at least +19 DEX and +3 LUK with those.

Red Osfa: Best option, you want to hit at least +17 DEX and +5 LUK with those.

TIP: Start with the Pirate set, most likely the red one and slowly advance to the Red Osfa option after you've done with your Claw, Gloves, Cape, Helmet, and possibly Face Accessory.
Red Christmas Sock / (Brown/Red) Osfa Boots
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Requirement: None / 130 DEX

Red Christmas Sock: This is the strongest option since the sock can have +ATT on it, you'll most likely have to Chaos Scroll it and get a nice amount of +ATT. However, you'll not benefit +DEX from it, which means you will most likely have a higher base DEX. Additionally, this sock expires after 1 year, which means you'll have to scroll another one next Christmas, or use AP resets to decrease your base DEX and get back to Osfa Boots.

Brown Osfa Boots: Most common option and very easy to find, you want to get at least +12 DEX from & +3 LUK from those.

Red Osfa Boots: Less common option, however a better one if you can hit 150 DEX with it. You want to make sure it has at least +11 DEX & +4 LUK.

TIP: Don't even think of getting a Red Christmas Sock unless you're filthy rich and you managed to nicely scroll it.
Blackfist Cloak / Pink Gaia Cape / Pink Adventurer Cape
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

No matter what cape you chose, make sure it has at least +9 ATT.

Blackfist Cloak: This is definitely the best option to go for since the maximal stats are +5 ATT, and it also has +300 HP, which is EXTREMELY useful for endgame bosses. The only downside is that the cloak is untradeable, which means you'll have to Chaos Scroll it yourself.

Pink Gaia Cape: Classic choice before we had CWKPQ, the maximal stats are +4 ATT which makes it a great cape to Chaos, however, it has no +HP like the Blackfist Cloak.

Pink Adventurer Cape: I doubt anyone still Chaos these capes, the maximal stats are +3 ATT, definitely not worthy of Chaosing if you ask me, but there are still nicely scrolled ones in the market.
Brown Work Gloves / Yellow Marker
    [IMG] [IMG]
Regardless of what glove you pick for your endgame, the VERY MINIMUM you want is +14 ATT gloves. In the beginning, I would say you should go for +10~12 ATT (depending on your budget).
Horntail Necklace / Mark of Naricain
    [IMG] [IMG]
You want to start with a Horntail Necklace until level 170 where your avoidability is high enough. While Mark of Naricain is much better when Chaos Scrolled, it is not giving you as much avoidability and LUK as the Horntail Necklace. This is important, especially in Horntail. Because the more often you get hit the more often you fall from platforms and miss your targets.

    Special Thanks to eranhalalieranhalali (ThiefNL).
Red Craven / (Green/Purple) Dragon Sleeve / Flairgrave / Reverse Lampion / Timeless Lampion
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG][IMG] [IMG]

No matter what you choose you want it to be perfect on the end-game. That means 7/7 scrolls of 10% or 30%s that passed on it. Usually starting with 3~4 passed 30%'s and continuing with White Scrolls + 10% scrolls from there. (For Lampions you might want to White Scroll from the first slot after leveling it to the max level [in case it got nearly perfect stats]).

For your mid-game you might want at least +72 ATT, and late-game +75~76 ATT.

    [IMG] Shadower [IMG]
Shadowers are literally the most independent class in this game. They do not need anyone in order to reach their true potential and they can solo bosses people dou at level 140+ just by level 72! They are absolute tanks at 4th job that nearly never gets damaged, and they're the easiest class to level at the 3rd job and the second easiest at the 4th job.

    Pros:
    Independence:

Shadowers are independent as hell, they don't need buffs from other classes to reach their maximal damage, and they're tanky enough to do anything they want by themselves.

    Desired in Bosses:
Shadowers are extremely desired in certain bosses due to their Smokescreen [IMG] skill, which allows the party to stay invincible while in it. Additionally, they're dealing great damage Horntail, and are the best Seduce mules for it.

    Survivability:
Shadowers' survivability is insane. They are thieves, so by nature their main stat is LUK; which gives them insane amounts of Avoidability at the end-game, making mobs and bosses Miss them most of the time, and even if the hit do register they have a skill at 4th job advancement called Shadow Shifter [IMG] that gives them another +40% chance to dodge it anyway (30% for Night Lords). Lastly, their Boomerang skill (main 4th job attack) [IMG] gives them invincibility frames whenever casted. In other words, if you want Godmode this is your class.

    Washing:
Shadowers do not HAVE to wash, but you REALLY, REALLY want to wash them (even if just a bit). The more you wash them the tankier they become.

    Solo Bossing:
Shadowers are capable of solo-bossing right after the 3rd job advancement (you can literally solo Bigfoot at level 70).

    Extremely Fun:

If there's one class that nearly everyone could agree that is fun to play, that's the Shadower.

    Cons:
    Damage:

The 4th job skills are not as strong in comparison to other classes' skills. They can get really strong with Boomerang as long as they hit 4 targets, which is usually not the case.

    Combos:
4th job skills will require certain combos on your Macro in order to achieve the maximum damage output, and sometimes you'll find yourself accidentally dashing into bosses and dying (requires practice).

    Fundings:
Requires a lot of fundings (but not as much as a Night Lord).

    Summary:
    Early Bossing:
    69/10
    Late Bossing: 7/10
    Mobbing: 8/10
    Mobility: 7/10
    Utility: 10/10
    General Score: 10/10

So, you have decided to go for a very independent Shadower, congratulations! It's time to choose your character AP build.

    AP Builds

    The Old-school [IMG]
The old-school AP build is the most common for the old versions of MapleStory when people did not have the funding/knowledge to use the techniques to make their Night Lord stronger. This build users mainly increase +3 LUK and +2 DEX (and sometimes STR) each level in order to be able to wear a gear fitting their level.

    Summary:
    Required fundings:
    Low
    Strength (Early Game): Balanced
    Strength (End Game): Weak
Additional Info: Don't you ever go for this build unless you don't care about damage and just wanna be nostalgic and get some badass looking without NX.

    How To:
You don't have to know anything if you go for this build, you just use whatever is making you stronger.

    The Blood CB [IMG]
This is the most unique build you can ever go for, the Blood Chief Bandits are bossing mules most of the time, their base DEX is 25 and the rest goes to HP. They are weaker than you could ever imagine and the only way to level them is through PQs or leech. However, at level 70 they can start using Meso Explosion which do not depend on your stats but the amount of mesos you drop. The whole point of Blood CBs is the fact that their HUGE HP pool + Meso Guard combined is making them nothing less than Godmode-users.

    Summary:
    Required fundings:
    None, just mesos to explode.
    Strength (Early Game): Horrible
Strength (End Game): Horrible but great with Meso Explosion.
Additional Info: Don't you ever go for this build unless it's a bossing mule or you simply wanna try something new.

    How To:
Get 25 base DEX to make the job advancement and keep your AP after becoming a Bandit spend it all on HP. (The only way to make it through the job advancements is probably having some dex gear and using Onyx Apples to kill the mobs).

    End Game Gear:
HP Gear & Any dagger with FASTER attack speed (Fruit Knife [IMG] will do the job).

    The DEXless [IMG]
The DEXless AP build is pretty strong and became more and more popular with the time after the Maple Weapons came out. This build relies on Maple Weapons and Common items that do not require DEX.
This build users have 25 base DEX in order to do the first job advancement and they just keep pumping +5 LUK each level.

    Summary:
    Required fundings:
    Low-Medium (up to you).
    Strength (Early Game): Extremely Strong
    Strength (End Game): So-So
Additional Info: This build is not getting the benefits of the end-game gears, which means you are not going to be as strong as the LowDex build users. By not using a Dragon Kanzir and Dragon Khanjar you're losing over 50 ATT (depends on the gear).

    How To:
Get 25 DEX before you reach level 10 in order to do the first job advancement and the rest goes for LUK.

    End Game Gear:
I'm not gonna list an end-game gear for this build because it's simply stupid, a waste of my time and your money. You're going for the LowDEX/STR build anyway.

    The LowDEX/STR [IMG]
The LowDEX/STR build starts as a DEXLess. However, they will increase a very minimal amount of DEX and STR at the endgame in order to equip their end-game gear.

    Summary:
    Required fundings:
    High
Strength (Early Game): Extremely Strong since you go for a DEXless first.
    Strength (End Game): Moderate~High
Additional Info: This build will get you the best result for a Shadower, the highest possible damage.

    How To:
The first thing you wanna do is to go for a DEXLess build until you hit level 90 or so.
At this point you will start saving your AP until you hit level 120 because you will have to get a Horntail pendant which will get you 21~23 all stats, that will help you a lot to keep your base DEX/STR as low as possible along with the gear stated below you should have about 25-50 base DEX, and that's gonna keep you extremely strong.

    End Game Gear:
    Scarlion Helmet (STR)
    [IMG] [IMG]

Ravana Helmet: The best helmet for you as a Shadower is ACTUALLY the Ravana Helmet. It can reach to a maximum of 20 all stats clean, you might want to farm them daily until you get a 19+ on STR/DEX/LUK and then scroll it.

Scarlion Helmet: Your Scarlion Helmet should be scrolled with DEX, you want it to be anywhere above 30 DEX (preferably 33+) after scrolling along with 19 starting STR.

TIP: Prepare scrolls before you enter Scarlion, this way you will be able to reloot in case you botched the scrolling part.
For starters, use 60% scrolls (x10)... and later on you can replace it and try to land some 30% + 60% on the new helm.
Spectrum Goggles / Raccoon Mask / White Racoon Mask / Broken Glasses
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Your Eye Accessory can be any of the listed above, it should simply have as much STR&DEX as possible. People do tend to Chaos Scroll Spectrum Goggles, so it's easier to find them with high STR&DEX, although any of the above could work.. as long as they have some nice amount of STR (or at least DEX) (endgame I'd say about 5~6 STR&DEX).
    ?

Your Face Accessory can be anything, from those Masks with the emotions for level 25 to Branch Noses to Rat Mouth.

Hopefully you'll manage to get +10 DEX, combined with the additional +2 STR & +2 LUK, this is even better than a +14 DEX earrings.
(Green/Red/Black) Pirate Top (or Blouse) / (Purple/Green) Osfa Suit
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Requirement: 120 DEX / 130 DEX
Red/Black Pirate: These are the most common options, you want to hit at least +20 LUK and +2 DEX with those.

Green Pirate: Less common option, you want to hit at least +16 LUK and +6 DEX with those.

Purple Osfa: You want to hit at least +17 STR and +6 DEX with those.

Green Osfa: Best option, you want to hit at least +20 STR and +3 LUK with those (if you use those you need to make sure your DEX hits 150 from your Pants&Shoes alone).

TIP: Start with the Pirate set, most likely the red one and slowly advance to the Red Osfa option after you've done with your Claw, Gloves, Cape, Helmet, and possibly Face Accessory.
(Green/Red/Black) Pirate Bottom (or Skirt) / (Purple/Green) Osfa Pants
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Requirement: 120 DEX / 130 DEX

Red/Black Pirate: These are the most common options, you want to hit at least +16 DEX and +4 LUK with those.

Green Pirate: Less common option, you want to hit at least +18 DEX and +2 LUK with those.

Purple Osfa: You want to hit at least +14 DEX, +3 STR, and +4 LUK with those.

Green Osfa: Best option, you want to hit at least +14 DEX, +4 STR and +3 LUK with those.

TIP: Start with the Pirate set, most likely the red one and slowly advance to the Red Osfa option after you've done with your Claw, Gloves, Cape, Helmet, and possibly Face Accessory.
Red Christmas Sock / (Purple/Green/Brown) Osfa Boots
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Requirement: None / 130 DEX

Red Christmas Sock: This is the strongest option since the sock can have +ATT on it, you'll most likely have to Chaos Scroll it and get some nice amount of +ATT.

Purple Osfa Boots: Less common option. However a better one, but you want to make sure the total DEX with it & the pants combined makes you hit 150 DEX. You want them to be at least +10 DEX, +4 STR, +3 LUK

Green Osfa Boots: The best option, however you want to make sure the total DEX with it & the pants combined makes you hit 150 DEX. You want them to be at least +10 DEX, +4 STR, +3 LUK

    [IMG] [IMG]
No matter what glove you pick, for your endgame, the VERY MINIMUM you want is +14 ATT gloves. At the beginning, I would say you should go for +10~12 ATT (depending on your budget).
    Horntail Necklace
    [IMG]
As a Shadower you have no reason to go for a Mark of Narricane. Horntail Necklace should be giving you up to +23 all stats, which is insane for you because you're using 3 stats (STR/DEX/LUK), giving you a total of up to 69 AP.
Gold Double Knife / Dragon Kanzir / Flairgrave / Speargrave / Reverse Pescas / Timeless Pescas
    [IMG] [IMG][IMG] [IMG][IMG]

No matter what you choose you want it to be perfect on the end-game. That means 7/7 scrolls of 10% or 30%s that passed on it. Usually starting with 3~4 passed 30%'s and continuing with White Scrolls + 10% scrolls from there. (For Pascas you might want to White Scroll from the first slot after leveling it to the max level [in case it got nearly perfect stats]).
    Dragon Khanjar
    [IMG]

For the end-game the very minimum you want to go for is +32 ATT.
For late-game 30 ATT should be fine.
For mid-game 27+ ATT should do... for now...
Okay so you have picked your build, now let's get to the SP build.

    Bandit VS SinDit:
There are 2 types of Bandits (Regular & SinDit)
So which one should I pick?
SinDit is a better option if you have Ilbi and ATT gloves. Otherwise, go for the regular build.

    Bosser VS Mober:
You can build your Shadower to become either a mobber or a bosser, what should you go for? Well that's totally up to you, but in case you've a Bishop and you can Self-Leech.. I guess a Bosser can be a nice option? (I would like to hear your opinions).

Level 192: Who the fuck reach these levels as a Blood CB?! either way get Lucky Seven or Endure...

    Explanation:
    1st Job:
You begin with Lucky Seven [1/20] in order to hit mobs from distance, then you maximize the distance by maximizing Keen Eyes. Right after that, you'll get maximize your Dark Sight for smooth movement, it's something you'll use very often.

2nd Job: You start with Savage Blow [1/30] in order to have an attack that deals with multiple lines, it might prove useful in some cases. Right after that, you'll maximize your Haste for smooth movement and get Steal for a nice drop rate. Maximize Savage Blow right after in order to hit 6 lines and then maximize Disorder to reduce mobs defense&attack... the rest goes to Dagger Mastery&Booster (although you should use FASTER dagger to have maximized speed even without the booster).

3rd Job: Meso Explosion [1/30] first, that's what Blood CB is all about. At level 71 you'll get Chakra so you can have Meso Guard [1/20] at level 72. From there you keep maximizing your Meso Explosion and then your Meso Guard in order to tank even Pink Bean :pinkbean:.

You do use Shield Mastery unlike other builds for maximal tankery (use a level 5 shield or something to make it apply).

4th Job: You start with Shadow Shifter [1/30] for 11% missing you, Boomerang Step [1/30] for iFrames (invincible Frames), and Smokescreen for temporary Godmode.
From there you keep maximizing your Shadow Shifter to make mobs miss you 40% of the time, and then Smokescreen to make your Godmode last longer and spread wider across the map.
You carry on with Taunt for maximal drop rate & higher EXP and then you also max Boomerang Step for 90% stunning the mobs.
Hero's Will is for emergency situations in certain bosses (such as Horntail).
Maple Warrior for parties, so you can be super useful.
Maximizing Assaulter for higher mob-stun rate when using the skill for extra mobility.

    [IMG] Training Spots [IMG]
These are just common spots for training, but let's be serious here. We are on MapleLegends where HP washing is MANDATORY no matter what you say. Realistically you won't even have the damage to train at any of these locations because your INT will be high at the lower levels, so you'll be leeching yourself with your bishop all the way up to 4th job advancement anyway... unless you're a Chief Bandit (meso explosion).

Maple Island & Olaf at Lith Harbor.

    [IMG] HP Washing [IMG]

So yes, I am almost sure you've heard that term "HP Wash" countless times around the game. HP Washing is a method to trick the system in order to generate extra HP. The reason is that there are bosses around the game that can 1hit K/O certain classes (mainly the ranged classes, such as Night Lord, Bowmaster, Corsair, etc). The whole point is to make bossing possible at the minimal level that is required to be a part of the EXP split.

"So... I'm supposed to HP Wash?"
If you have decided to follow the ways of the Night Lords then yes, you should DEFINITELY wash. Don't bother making one without washing, just don't.
If you're a Shadower, you don't HAVE to wash, but I would definitely recommend you to do so.

"So why Shadowers don't have to HP Wash just like Night Lords?"
Because they have an AWESOME skill named Meso Guard [IMG], which halves the damage they get, you can pretty much treat their HP as doubled.

"Okay, so how do I begin HP Washing?"
Since HP Washing is a large topic, I will not start a whole guide within this guide of HP washing. Especially not when there are so many of them around the forums. Here is one of the more elaborate ones made by PepsiPepsi, he did an awesome work. So I would definitely recommend you to check his guide out *HERE*.

Also, if you hate headache and broken & laggy Excel calculators that supposed to help you to calculate your HP Wash progress, I will recommend you to use my neat calculator from *HERE*.
[IMG] What should I pick? [IMG]

So you might find yourself struggling between the two thieves, each one of them has its own unique merits and flaws. Which one should you pick?
Here's a small quiz that will give you the answer.

    1. How much NX you're willing to spend on washes?
    0 NX (10 points)
    150,000 NX (9 points)
    400,000 NX (7 points)
    800,000 NX (3 points)
1,200,000 NX or more (0 points)

    2. What job did you think of before you started reading this guide?
    Night Lord (0 points)
    Shadower (2 points)

    3. Is that your first character?
    Yes (3 points)
    No (0 points)

    4. Do you have a Bishop?
    Yes (0 points)
    No (6 points)

    5. In case you're going for a Night Lord and you DO NOT plan to wash, what is your level goal?

    Below 135 (0 points)

    135-154 (3 points)

    155+ (7 points)

    Results:
If you did score over 10 points you're not meeting the requirements of an endgame Night Lord and you probably want to go for a Shadower. Do not take me wrong. Shadowers are not a plan B class. they're AWESOME and fun as much as Night Lords and they're much better at other stuff. Shadowers are better over-all but Night Lords are pure bossing machines.

    F.A.Q

    Q. Why Night Lords need to wash so much while Shadowers barely have to?
    A. Shadowers got Meso Guard [IMG] skill, which halves the damage they get. Means you can treat their HP as doubled.

    Q. Why Night Lord players should have Bishops?
    A. As a Night Lord you're going to wash heavily (sorry, that's the truth), and you're barely going to deal any damage until levels 120+ where your LUK more or less balances with your INT. Additionaly,
your only mobbing skill is Avenger [IMG], which deals only 180% damage when it's maxed... Not to mention, you can't even use that skill when you're standing on a mob...

Lastly, having a Bishop means you probably already have some INT gear, making you able to lend it to your Thief while leveling for HP Washing.

    Q. Why Night Lords are more expensive than Shadowers?
    A. To be honest, Thieves are expensive in general, Claw scrolls are more expensive than Dagger scrolls... that's true... but Shadowers need a scrolled Shield as well.. which is not cheap at all... Gear-wise, they are more or less the same.
However, HP Washing is mandatory for Night Lords, which means you MUST buy an INT gear before you even take care of your own gear.

    Q. I want a bossing class but I can't afford a Night Lord, what should I do?
    A. The answer is so simple and clear, Hero is the best class for you.
Why? It is the second-best class for Bossing and does not require washing AT ALL (but pls don't be a pepega and wash it anyway). This job does not require too much fundings and it's really easy to play.
Also, Heroes are not depending on self-leech since they're great mobbers as well.

    Q. Are Heroes better than Night Lords?
    A. It really depends, Heroes can mob while Night Lords cannot. But when it comes down to bossing Night Lords usually deal a lot more damage. Heroes are "Cleavers" means they're dealing more damage on bosses than Night Lords only when they're hitting multiple parts (such as Zakum arms VS Zakum body).

    Q. You're tempting me to make a Hero, can you elaborate a bit more?
    A. Well look, they're dealing high damage and barely require anything. This job is well-rounded and you should definitely check them out. Their mobility sucks since they are Warriors but they train with their Hogs/Silver Manes (just like Shadowers) which is making their mobility pretty decent. They're desired in certain bosses as much as Night Lords and people say that they're fun to play... if you want more information you should visit MapleBentoMapleBento's guide by clicking *HERE*

Just wanted to mention your tops and shoes for low str/dex shadowers should be str/dex based and not luk. Tops should be scrolled str and (especially males) should be using green/purple osfa tops and shoes should be blue mystique. The lower your base stats (higher your base luk) the more extra luk you get from maple warrior.

Also not to rain on your parade since you clearly put a lot of effort into it but most thieves transition from dexless/pure luk into "low dex" since it offers the least amount of DPM loss during funding stages as well as allowing the person to keep base stats at a minimum; your guide seems to separate the builds as if they are completely different and stay as such.

If shadower gear is based on how often you find optimal gear being sold in fm then i wouldnt have any of my current gear. Class guides that provide info on what is best for a class shouldn't limit to what pre-scrolled items are available in the market but what potential items should be made for optimal results. Luk tops are the easier option since the NL dominated server has provided the market with an abundance of scrolled luk tops; however, sticking with the easy less optimal version even though top str scrolls are easy to find in fm and then saying that is the end game gear shadowers should be going for in a guide only further misleads the less knowledgeable into thinking thats the way to go.

Overall a decent guide. However I would never ever recommend to anybody to raise 3 luk and 2 dex every level. It is trivial to stay low dex with poverty funding, even on a brand new player's budget. Also on a side note, as it is not super important for most players, but it is actually realistic to achieve dexless end-game while wearing sleve + attack cape + top/bottom (and even attack shoe/face as well).

Edit: also I believe shadow web is completely optional. There really is very few if any at all use cases for it as it doesn't work on bosses. One of the VERY FEW uses I've seen is to drop the flying mobs to the bottom at Zakum so the melee attackers can cleave them down but this is a very niche case.

Personally, i dont think just "PQs" is the best "training guide" where are the essential training maps if there is no one at pqs. there are maps that are better than pqs >_< overall nice guide, just missing some parts. its a guide starter guide for new players! i suggest take in criticism instead of being defensive. Sure. I know that there are a couple quests from 10-20 that give a ton of EXP and are fast to do like:

    1) https://poof.ml/?p=quest&id=2165 + https://poof.ml/?p=quest&id=2166 requires 1 mana elixir which can be bought at the nautilus general store.
    2) https://poof.ml/?p=quest&id=8762 requires 10 screws which can be bought cheaply.
    3) https://poof.ml/?p=quest&questline=Entering+the+Floating+Market+Protection+Squad just requires some walking.
    4) https://poof.ml/?p=quest&questline=The+Welcoming+Ritual just requires some walking.
    5) Don't pass on doing the job instructor training quests, they're not bad exp.

Also I agree HPQ is good if you can find people, and KPQ is important to do for shoes.

    Thanks for the reference, added!

Urm, where can you obtain this 1 from? according to Poof.ml it says it's unavailable or event.
I got a feeling it could be exchanged for badges at NLC but I'm not quite sure.
If you can confirm that I'd surely add that.

You craft them along with other raven ninja weapons at Phantom Forest - Dead Man's Gorge map in NLC. It requires a quest-line to be able to access the NPC dialogue for crafting so it doesn't show on poof.ml yet. It is also where you craft Balanced Fury.

I'm sorry if i sounded like i'm "mad", i'm merely explaining my point in regards to that tiny misconception of what tops are best for shads. If you don't want to take my suggestion into consideration then that's fine, you put time into making the guide so i thought i'd just let you know; i'm not here to shit on your post lol.

Hmm that's possible but once you hit 35 you probably wanna burn your ass on LPQs for the broken glasses.
Also Ellin PQ for the earrings that start with +2 all stats (+4 AP for NLs, +6 AP for Shadowers)

Hey nice guide but I see a downside to it what if..

    Level 10: +1 Lucky Seven (1)
    Level 11 - 12
    : +5 Nimble Body (5), +1 Keen Eyes (1)
    Level 13 - 15
    : +7 Keen Eyes (MAX), +2 Lucky Seven (3)
    Level 16 - 22
    : +17 Lucky Seven (MAX), +3 Disorder (3), +1 Dark Sight (1)
    Level 23 - 30
    : +19 Dark Sight (MAX), +5 Nimble Body (10)

You start off by adding 1 SP on Lucky Seven as it'll be your main attacking skill all the way up till 4th job. Put 5 SP on Nimble Body to unlock Keen Eyes. Go on maxing Keen Eyes as it will triple your throwing range. And then go on maxing Lucky Seven for more damage. Once you're done maxing Lucky Seven put 3 SP on Disorder to unlock Dark Sight and then pour all of your SP on Dark Sight as maxing it means you wont get slowed down while in DS. Put the rest of your SP on Nimble Body.

    Level 30 - 31: +3 Claw Mastery (3), +1 Critical Strike (1)
    Level 32 - 41
    : +29 Critical Strike (MAX), +1 Claw Mastery (4)
    Level 42 - 44
    : +1 Claw Mastery (5), +6 Claw Booster (6), +2 Haste (2)
    Level 45 - 50
    : +18 Haste (MAX)
    Level 51 - 55
    : +14 Claw Booster (MAX), +1 Claw Mastery (6)
    Level 56 - 60
    : +14 Claw Mastery (MAX), +1 Nimble Body (11)
    Level 61 - 63
    : +9 Nimble Body (MAX)
    Level 64 - 70
    : +3 Endure (3) +18 Drain (18)

Start off by adding 3 Claw Mastery to unlock Critical Strike, then go on maxing Critical Strike as it'll increases your DPS by almost 50%! Then add a little bit more on Claw Mastery to unlock Claw Booster. Claw Booster could be left at 6 as the speed will stay constant after that. Max Haste for better mobility. After that max Claw Booster. And then Max up Claw Mastery. You can put the rest of the SP into Nimble Body to max it out or you could max out Drain. I personally go with maxing Nimble Body as the difference between maxing Drain or keeping it at lv21 isn't that great.

    Level 70: +1 Avenger (1)
    Level 71 - 80
    : +30 Shadow Partner (MAX)
    Level 81 - 88
    : +4 Avenger (5), +20 Flash Jump (MAX)
    Level 89 - 97
    : +25 Avenger (MAX), +2 Alchemist (2)
    Level 98 - 103
    : +18 Alchemist (MAX)
    Level 104 - 110
    : +20 Meso Up (MAX), +1 Drain (19)
    Level 111 - 117
    : +11 Drain (MAX), +8 Endure (11)
    Level 118 - 120
    : +9 Endure (MAX), 2 free SP.

Start off by adding 1 SP on Avenger for better mobbing. Then max out Shadow Partner as it gives you so much more DPS. Shadow Partner at max level gives you 50% more DPS but it eats out summoning rock so don't even bother using it if it isn't max. Flash Jump should be maxed after that for better mobility. Avenger can be maxed later for better damage and alchemist should be maxed next. Alchemist is useful for when you're on attack potion like Onyx Apple or Heart Stopper as it allows them to last 50% longer. And then go on maxing Meso Up for slightly more mesos during grinding. Shadow web isn't used as it isn't very useful because your job is to kill not crowd control the enemy. Night Lords get a better skill for "evading" monsters, plus you have Flash Jump anyways.

Your skill order would largely depend on the availability of your Skill Books.
This is how i would prioritize them: -

    Triple Throw
    Shadow Shifter
    Maple Warrior
    Shadow Stars
    Ninja Storm
    Venom
    Taunt
    Ninja Ambush

Triple Throw 10 is maxed first as it will be your main DPS skill. This is where you can finally ditch Lucky Seven. Triple Throw at Level 1 is already more effective than Lucky Seven. Shadow Shifter is maxed before Maple Warrior as Shadow Shifter allow you to get hit less often which increases your DPS. And also as you'll be in a party for bossing it's highly likely someone else already maxed Maple Warrior(20/30). Maple Warrior is maxed next as it increases your damage range. Shadow Star is then max after as it allows you to save on your stars. Ninja Storm pushes mob away from you which enable you to attack more often. Venom, Taunt and Ninja Ambush isn't relevant to your end game interest which is bossing.

    So.. what do you think?

*Sigh* I have no idea how I got to this, but I recalled I made this guide a few years ago... Even I as a Thief since 2006 learned a few new things on MapleLegends as I start scratching the end-game on my Night Lord.
I have updated this guide to make it fit the current meta. End-game gears have changed ever since multiple times and people become sweatier and sweatier as time flies.

I could have dug a bit further into the depth of Shadowers practice because they do require certain Macros and combos, but I didn't touch my Shadower for a long time so I'd rather not give out false information.
