Notice Higher resolution is coming to MapleLegends

For the past days the widescreen mod is slowly getting finalized while I am still polishing some maps. Let's show you guys fun examples.

Horntail.

The main Horntail map wasn't actually the worst map out there. There was some iffiness on the left side and the character was a bit too low into the UI for my liking:


So first, let's first the latter problem:


Much better. Now we can see ourselves better

Cool. The map looks pretty much perfect now.

Zakum.

Zakum's map is a bigger mess. I don't know what Neckson was thinking here but they clearly tried rush it as much as possible with assumptions we will ever see outside the boundaries. Technically this is common done even in commercial games. Example, things you see from far away are usually very low quality textures to save up space, etc. Still doesn't explain the tiles being at the bottom though...

Anywho, this is how the Zakum map looks 'vanilla' in our widescreen:


Big YIKES. I honestly don't even know why there's ground at the bottom but...

Let's first fix the angle because that's just awful



Much better.

Now I have to check how Neckson frankensteined this map together, and so I did:


Almost there. If you look carefully on the left there's some tiles off still. Let's fix that!



Perfect. The tree needs to be fixed by our wonderful graphics designers because Neckson decided to make the tree 2 obj's and made it too tall because normally you can't even see this much of the tree. There's also a tile issue still at the top left which gets fixed too by release.

Another progress report. This time we are showing backgrounds that are known to look janky or broken in other servers offering widescreen. We learned a lot the past days and are using the knowledge to make the best widescreen mod so far available. The same love and polish you are known of in MapleLegends.

It will. However, maybe not right away at every single map - this is another thing I am tweaking manually to hit the most polished way possible.

 

We'll give instructions once the time come. But it's all about removing like 3 files that Legends+ makes. I personally don't use Legends+ so will have to look then.

 

Try delete the dll called d8 something found in MapleLegends folder. That's what powers up Legends+

Will no longer be posting screenshots now. I think you guys got the point we try polish it as much as we can. We hope we'll see you at release date of the client~

 

Hate to give ETA's, but I would say 85% is done. Not all backgrounds and such will be done by release, we just try to do as much as possible while the developer work on the client itself. All UI related things have been re-positioned already, and the remaining 15% is for behind the scene stuff mostly and overall polish.
