While I thank Kimmy for fixing the mess, I disagree that in the case of excess posts, the thread post count should always be followed. I think subsequent posts should ignore the excess posts and continue on as if the person had made only one post. When a moderator comes to delete the extras, the count will naturally bump back to what it would have been without the double/triple/etc posts.
