can anyone explain what is wrong with pallys?
I was planning to make a new character and I was thinking to do a warrior, paladin specifically.
but now I am a little bit scared to even start.

 

There's nothing wrong with pallys if you don't plan on being super sweaty and competitive with end game content. They're actually pretty good for a lot of normal solo bossing content like NT and Scarga and have a pretty versatile kit, imo. All the balance discussions revolving around paladins are with end-game gear in mind, so it doesn't really apply to like 90% of the player base.

 

Worst dps class at horntail, which feels worse because we used to be among the best. Also the signature skill HH was castrated for bossing.

I agree that it's not as bad as it sounds, and we're still undisputed best class at NT AND we are still a class that is truly hp washing optional, but due to being a lot worse than it used to be most paladin mains have quit the game. It's super feelsbad to be nerfed as hard as this.

 

Basically, every single patch paladin either gets a direct, or indirect nerf.

 

WHAT do you mean by worst? Like Arch Mage bad or something extreme like Half the damage of any other warrior class?

Doesn't it indicate that palladin is really good?

 

Not archmage bad because archmage causes sed triggers early in today's state of the game. Can wait for akash to post his numbers, I remember his lvl200 paladin posting numbers and it was quite abysmal especially compared to heroes or NL. Like maybe close to 60% of the output. And that was even before they changed the hurtbox for HT heads, which now causes pala to have moments where they flat out cant hit their targets when the heads duck.

And yeah it indicates that pala used to be good. Now it no longer is.

 

They're good at irrelevant contents and bad at relevant contents. CWKPQ Mage boss resists all elements so they're forced to be a bad cleaver, HT impose very strict positioning restraints which hurts them a lot, they absoloutely suck at PB because of elemental resistance (even worse than fucking archmages), and the contents they are good at - Scarga and NT mainly - are all but irrelevant because of bad rewards. Add in the fact that they offer 0 party/run support beyond generic Maple Warrior, and they are easily the second worst class in this server, only ahead of Beginners.

 

When in doubt, juz be a hero

It's a class that can single-handedly sell superior Zakum helmets in the form of Scarlion Hats and rush through NT expeditions. It's a niche class for sure but has a place in this server.
I'd argue that Paladins are the best class for more solo-play bossing, which some players may prefer.
I think they could use a little help in either increasing their cleave damage by a little or having more single-target dpm separation from their Hero counterparts, but that's a different discussion.
