Jay's Curiosity Quest Can't Progress

    I started the Jay's curiosity quest and I saw on the forums that there were other quests that need to be done first to finish the quest but they don't show up. Went to Bruce, Gwin, Grendel, and Rememberer but no quests available, also not in the "available" tab in the quest menu. I went directly to Drake's Meal Table and killed Bob and got the shell but I can't do anything else now. Am I missing something that I have to do first to progress the quest or is this a bug?

    If you have the correct Snail Shell, then the four quests open up (it is not a guaranteed drop). If you turn in Bob's Snail Shell to The Rememberer, you lose the shell and need to hunt for the drop again, along with a plain Snail Shell.
