    TL;DR
If you value neither the mathematics behind nor the understanding of how and why HP washing and MP washing work, and are instead interested only in a guide that will tell you what to do and when to do it, I highly recommend that you take a look at the following spoiler:
The following are simplified step to step guides for hitting a desirable amount of HP for end game content for each character job.

    Warrior:
    1. Get to 50 base INT by level 50.
    • It doesn't matter what level you are starting at, just spend 2-3 AP on INT every level until your base INT matches your character level.
    • If your base INT already matches your character level, all you will need to do to is spend 1 AP on INT every time you level up until level 50.
    2. On every level up after level 50:
    • Spend 4 AP on STR.
    • Spend 1 AP on HP.
    • Purchase 1 AP Reset Scroll from the Cash Shop for 3,100 NX.
    • Reset 1 AP out of MP and re-spend it on STR.
    3. On level up whenever you need a larger HP pool (typically level 120+):
    • Spend 1 AP on HP.
    • Spend 4 AP on MP.
    • Purchase AP Reset Scrolls from the Cash Shop for 3,100 NX each.
    • Reset 4 AP out of MP and re-spend them on STR.
    • Reset 1 AP out of MP and re-spend it on HP. Repeat this step until you hit your minimum MP pool value derived from the formula {[(4xLevel)+55] for Heroes and [(4xLevel)+155] for Paladins/Dark Knights}. For this step, it is important to know that you will lose 4 MP for every AP reset out of your MP pool.
    • On the very last wash before you hit the minimum MP pool value, reset the AP out of MP and re-spend it on STR.
    4. Repeat step 2 until you need more HP again, then repeat step 3.
    5. Repeat step 4 until you hit your target HP pool value. Recommended target HP pool values:
    • 9,250 HP to survive by dodging the strongest attacks
    • 12,000 HP to survive all damage with Hyper Body
    • 19,200 HP to survive all damage without Hyper Body
    • 30,000 HP maximum value
    6. When you hit level 200:
    • After this is done, reset all of the AP out of INT and re-spend them on STR.

    Archer:
    1. Get to 120 base INT by level 120:
    • It doesn't matter what level you are starting at, just spend 2-3 AP on INT every level until your base INT matches your character level.
    • If your base INT already matches your character level, all you will need to do to is spend 1 AP on INT every time you level up until level 120.
    2. On every level up after level 120:
    • Spend 5 AP on MP.
    • Purchase 5 AP Reset Scrolls from the Cash Shop for 15,500 NX.
    • Reset 5 AP out of MP and re-spend them on HP.
    • Purchase another 5 AP Reset scrolls from the Cash Shop for 15,500 NX.
    • Reset 5 AP out of MP and re-spend them on DEX.
    3. On level up whenever you need a larger HP pool:
    • Spend 5 AP on MP.
    • Purchase AP Reset Scrolls from the Cash Shop for 3,100 NX each.
    • Reset 4 AP out of MP and re-spend them on DEX.
    • Reset 1 AP out of MP and re-spend it on HP. Repeat this step until you hit your minimum MP pool value derived from the formula [(14xLevel)+135]. For this step, it is important to know that you will lose 12 MP for every AP reset out of your MP pool.
    • On the very last wash before you hit the minimum MP pool value, reset the AP out of MP and re-spend it on DEX.
    4. Repeat step 2 until you need more HP again, and then repeat step 3.
    • After this is done, reset all of the AP out of INT and re-spend them on DEX.

    The Pre-Basics:

In MapleLegends, every time your character levels up, you are allotted 5 AP to spend on your character's stats. These can be spent on STR, DEX, INT, LUK, or less widely known, HP or MP. Traditionally, you would spend these points on the primary stat respective to your character’s class. Examples of this include spending AP on STR for a Warrior character, DEX for an Archer, LUK for a Thief, and INT for a Magician.

If you mess up on spending these AP, an item called “AP Reset Scroll” is sold in the cash shop for 3,100 NX. After purchasing this item, you are able to use it to reset one AP out of the stat it was originally spent on, and to then re-spend that AP on another stat of your choosing.

These scrolls are easily purchaseable in MapleLegends because daily voting on your account (link found here: https://maplelegends.com/vote ) will yield you 5,000 NX for the “Red Kimmy” website and 500 NX for the “Blue Kimmy” website. Each account can vote once per day on the “Red Kimmy” website with the timer resetting at 5:00pm PST, and once every 12 hours on the “Blue Kimmy” website.

In MapleLegends, HP and MP are treated as the same stat as far as AP is concerned. If you put a point into HP, you are then able to use an AP Reset Scroll to reset a point out of either HP or MP, and vice versa.

This is the core foundation of HP washing.

    The Basics of HP Washing:

HP washing is the practice of spending an AP on your HP pool and then using an AP Reset Scroll to reset that AP out of your MP pool to re-spend that AP on your primary stat (STR/DEX/INT/LUK).

The net gain on a single AP using this method would be an increase to your HP pool and an increase to your primary stat (STR/DEX/LUK/INT), but a decrease to your MP pool. Without this technique, a single AP would traditionally yield only an increase to your primary stat.

    The Benefits:

HP washing is desired because later on in the game, your character will need more HP in order to survive taking damage from higher level bosses. The decrease in your MP pool only affects the frequency of which your character will need to consume potions, and this is a small tradeoff for being able to survive what would normally be a 1 hit kill from higher level bosses.

    The Limitations:

There is a minimum MP pool value that prevents a character's MP pool from dropping below a certain threshold. A character's MP pool cannot be lowered further if it would drop the character’s MP pool to a value that falls below this minimum MP pool value. This makes MP the limiting factor in how many HP washes a character can perform.

Therefore, the more MP you can acquire over this minimum MP pool value equates to the more HP washes you can perform. The more HP washes you can perform, the larger your character's HP pool will be. It is for this reason that it is in your best interest to maximize the amount of MP gained throughout your character's level progression.

    Maximizing MP Gain:

Every time your character levels up, some amount of MP is naturally added to your character’s MP pool. This amount can be increased with a higher INT level. For every 10 INT that your character has, 1 additional MP is added to your MP pool on top of the amount of MP your character naturally would have gained. This will be referred to as the additional MP gained each level.

This additional MP gained each level equation makes INT extremely desirable for HP washing, because increasing your character's INT level directly increases the amount of MP that is added to your character’s MP pool. This translates to a higher number of HP washes that you can perform, and ultimately results in a higher HP pool for your character.

Because of this interaction, all character jobs benefit from having a high INT level.

    Sources of INT:

INT for your character can be obtained two ways:
    1. Spending AP on INT when your character levels up. INT obtained this way will be referred to as “base INT”.
    2. Wearing equips that provide bonuses to your character's INT. INT obtained this way will be referred to as “worn INT”.

When first starting out on your character, I highly recommend spending some AP on INT, as doing this will increase your MP gained throughout your levels and you can easily reset the AP spent in this way back out of INT using AP Reset Scrolls later on and re-spend them on your primary stat. Equips that provide INT are also extremely expensive, so people new to the server likely will not have access to large amounts of worn INT.

Another benefit of increasing your character's base INT is that base INT also affects the amount of MP you gain from spending an AP on your MP pool, whereas worn INT does not. MP gained this way will be referred to as the MP gained from AP. With a high enough base INT, the MP gained from AP will yield more MP than resetting an AP out of MP will cost.

This opens the door for MP washing.

    MP Washing:

MP washing is the practice of spending an AP on your MP pool and then using an AP Reset Scroll to reset that AP out of your MP pool to re-spend that AP on your primary stat (STR/DEX/INT/LUK).

If your character has a high enough base INT, the net gain on a single AP using this method would be an increase to your MP pool and an increase to your primary stat.

This technique is especially useful for Magicians, as their skill “Magic Guard” allows their MP pool to absorb damage in place of their HP pool. This means that a larger MP pool on a Magician character will effectively increase the amount of damage they can take, specifically from higher level bosses.

This technique is also helpful if you are trying to increase your MP pool in order to perform more HP washes with your character. When MP washing is used in conjunction with HP washing in this way, it is called “double washing”.

    Double Washing:

Double washing is the practice of spending an AP on MP and then using an AP Reset Scroll to reset that AP out of your MP pool to re-spend that AP on your HP pool. After the AP is spent on your HP pool, another AP Reset Scroll is used to reset that AP out of your MP pool to re-spend that AP on your primary stat (STR/DEX/INT/LUK). Double washing is the combination of first MP washing an AP into HP, and then immediately afterward HP washing that AP into your primary stat.

With a high enough base INT, the net gain on a single AP using this method would be an increase to your HP pool and an increase to your primary stat. It is important to note that this method does not include the decrease to your MP pool that is inherent in singular HP washing. This is an important distinction to make because without this MP loss, double washing effectively increases the number of potential HP washes you can perform on your character.

Double washing is not for the faint of heart. Double washing requires twice as many AP Reset Scrolls as either HP washing or MP washing would on their own, which requires a massive amount of time commitment and voting dedication. This method is typically reserved for characters that have an extreme need for HP washing, like Thief, Archer, and Gunslinger characters that do not have access to large amounts of worn INT.

Now that we know all of the tools at our disposal for increasing character HP, we need to come up with starting point in character level progression to begin HP washing.

HP Washing Timeline throughout Character Progression:

In general, the earlier base INT is added to the character's stat sheet, the better it is in terms of HP washing. More base INT at earlier levels results in more MP gained throughout the level progression, and an earlier level at which MP washing can be performed.

That being said, as a new player to the server I highly highly highly recommend that HP washing be put off until as late as possible. This is primarily because of three reasons:
    1. The NX cost associated with the number of AP Reset Scrolls that are required to effectively HP wash a character can be quite extreme.
    2. The primary method of gaining NX in daily voting is tied to the passing of real world hours. Because of this, there is no way to meaningfully expedite the accumulation of NX, and a number of days must pass before enough NX can be accumulated to cover the entire NX cost of HP washing.
    3. The level investment into base INT that is required to effectively HP wash at the earlier levels can cripple a character's damage and severely slows down level progression.
These three facts in conjunction with each other almost entirely exclude new players from being able to sustain heavy HP washing at earlier levels. It is for this reason that this guide will promote back-loading the bulk of the HP washing onto the later half of a character job's level progression, after the leveling process begins to slow down. This will do a few things that are extremely helpful to new players:
    1. Push back the point at which NX expenditure on AP Reset Scrolls is required. This will give new players plenty of days of daily voting to accumulate NX before being required to spend it all on AP Reset Scrolls.
    2. Slow down the required level of investment into INT at the earlier stages of character progression. This gives new players greater flexibility in their builds, and also allows them to retain more of their damage from the get-go while maintaining a healthy and consistent level of development throughout their levels. This will yield an easier time leveling up and progressing further into the game.
    3. Eliminate almost entirely the intensity, anxiety, and meso expenditure that goes along with accumulating the required amount of INT that must be obtained in order to HP wash at the earlier levels. HP washing has a tendency to overwhelm players who are new to the server, especially when there is a high amount of pressure on them to obtain as much INT as they can as early as possible. Giving new players the ability to still hit their target HP pool values without starting HP washing immediately reduces the amount of stress involved in starting a new character, and increases enjoyment of the game.
Therefore, this guide recommends the slowest possible accumulation of INT that still allows each character job to hit their target HP pool values without spending an absurd amount of NX on AP Reset Scrolls at the earlier levels of character progression.

With that in mind, this guide recommends that for every character job, level 120 (the start of 4th job) be the level to start HP washing, and level 200 (the maximum level) be endpoint. This gives a total span of 80 levels, or 400 AP, to complete HP washing within and gain enough HP for each character job.

Now that we have our starting and end points for HP washing, we must determine the end goal target HP pool values for each character job.

    Target HP Pool Values:

In order to survive a hit from the hardest hitting attack in the game, an HP pool of at least 12,000 is required. This amount of HP will allow your character to take at least one hit from anything in the game, provided that someone in your party is buffing you with the “Hyper Body” skill that increases your max HP. If you want to break away from being dependent on Hyper Body, an HP pool of 19,200 is required.

Due to the risk involved in being up close to the enemy, melee characters should at the minimum strive to hit the 12,000 mark for their target HP pool value by level 200, but there are benefits for going after the more ambitious 19,200 HP value. Ranged characters can often get away with setting their sights on a lower target HP pool value of around 9,250 HP before Hyper Body calculations, provided they dodge to avoid taking damage from the hardest hitting enemy attacks. Because of the skill "Magic Guard", Magician character's can get away with only 20% of this value, or 1,850 HP, as their MP pool will be used to absorb 80% of the damage. This also requires that their MP pool be at least 7,400 MP.

As far as this guide is concerned, the 12,000 HP mark will be used as the absolute minimum target HP pool value to hit by level 200 for melee characters, with the optional ability of being able to to obtain the 19,200 HP value. The 9,250 HP mark will be used as the absolute minimum target HP pool value to hit by level 200 for ranged characters, with the optional ability to obtain the 12,000 HP value. The 1,850 HP and 7,400 MP mark will be used as the absolute minimum target HP pool and target MP pool for Magician characters, with the optional ability to obtain the 2,400 HP and 9,600 MP values.

For the calculations in this guide, the higher of these values will be used in the calculations as the target HP pool value to guarantee that both the absolute minimum and the optional values can be hit by following the guide. Players who are targeting the absolute minimum target HP pool value instead of the much higher optional value will be given an exit strategy when the absolute minimum target HP values are achieved.

Now that we have our target HP pool values to achieve, we must calculate how many HP washes must be performed in order to hit these values. A big part in the calculations is understanding the available sources of accumulating HP.

    Understanding HP Gain:

There are four main sources that increase your character's HP pool:
    1. Leveling up will naturally increase your character's HP pool by a set amount. Each job has a minimum HP pool value that takes this HP gain into account.
    2. Spending an AP gained at level up on HP will increase your character's HP pool by a set amount. HP gained in this way will be referred to as "HP gained from Fresh AP".
    3. Spending an AP that was already reset out of another stat on HP will increase your character's HP pool by a set amount that is typically less than the amount of HP gained by spending an AP that was gained at level up. HP gained in this way will be referred to as "HP gained from Stale AP". The distinction between HP gained from Fresh AP and HP gained from Stale AP is an important one to make because double washing calculations use only the value of the HP gained from Stale AP.
    4. Wearing equips that grant a bonus to HP will increase your character's HP pool.
Now that we know where our HP gain is coming from, we will need the HP formulas specific to each class in order to calculate how much HP washing is required for our goals.

    Job-Specific HP Formulas:

It is important to note that all of the following formulas are assuming 2nd job advancement and onward. It is not worth HP washing or MP washing before you hit your 2nd job advancement. Additionally, these formulas are also adjusted for the skill "Improving Max HP", where available.

Because we are trying to hit a minimum value for our target HP pool value calculations, we will assume the minimum formulas for the sources of HP listed to reduce negative margin of error. We will also assume no equips with bonuses to HP will be worn.

    Fighter:
    • Adjusted* minimum HP pool value: [64 x (Level-30)] + 1192
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 50-54
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 20
    • Target HP pool value: 19200
*Adjusted values take into account maxing out the skill "Improving Max HP". Because this is a 1st job skill for Warriors, the adjusted minimum HP pool value assumes that on levels 0-30, no amount of additional HP was gained from this skill, and from level 30 onwards the maximum amount of additional HP is gained. Realistically, most Warrior characters max this skill far before level 30, but the benchmark of level 30 is used to ensure calculations will ultimately result in slightly more HP over the target HP pool value rather than less.

    Page/Spearman:
    • Adjusted* minimum HP pool value: [64 x (Level-30)] + 892
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 50-54
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 20
    • Target HP pool value: 19200
*Adjusted values take into account maxing out the skill "Improving Max HP". Archer:
    • Minimum HP pool value: (20 x Level) + 378
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 16-20
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 16
    • Target HP pool value: 12000

    Thief:
    • Minimum HP pool value: (20 x Level) + 378
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 16-20
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 16
    • Target HP pool value: 12000

    Magician:
    • Minimum HP pool value: (10 x Level) + 64
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 6-10
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 6
    • Target HP pool value: 2400

    Gunslinger:
    • Minimum HP pool value: (22 x Level) + 380
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 16-20
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 18
    • Target HP pool value: 12000

    Brawler:
    • Adjusted* minimum HP pool value: [52 x (Level-50)] + 1480
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 36-40
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 18
    • Target HP pool value: 19200
*Adjusted values take into account maxing out the skill "Improving Max HP". Because this is a 2nd job skill for Brawlers, the adjusted minimum HP pool value assumes that on levels 0-50, no amount of additional HP was gained from this skill, and from level 50 onwards the maximum amount of additional HP is gained. Realistically, most Brawler characters max this skill far before level 50, but the benchmark of level 50 is used to ensure calculations will ultimately result in slightly more HP over the target HP pool value rather than less.

Required Number of HP Washes Calculations:

To find the required number of HP washes to hit the target HP pool value, simply subtract each job's minimum HP pool value calculated for the target level from the target HP pool value, and divide the result by either the HP gained from fresh AP to get the required number of fresh HP washes or divide the result by the HP gained from stale AP to get the required number of stale HP washes. The two remaining values will be the number of fresh HP washes and the number stale HP washes that are required to hit your target HP pool value by level 200.

The general formulas can be written as:
    • Number of required fresh HP washes to hit the target HP pool value by the target level = [(Target HP pool value) - (minimum HP pool value for target level)] / (HP gained from fresh AP)
    • Number of required stale HP washes to hit the target HP pool value by the target level = [(Target HP pool value) - (minimum HP pool value for target level)] / (HP gained from stale AP)

For convenience, the calculations for each character job are transcribed below:

    Fighter:
    • Minimum HP pool value: [64 x (Level-30)] + 1192
    • HP gained from Fresh AP: 50-54
    • HP gained from Stale AP: 20
    • Target HP pool value: 19200
    • Level to achieve target HP value by: 200
    • Required number of HP washes:
      • Fresh HP washes:
Required number of fresh HP washes = [(Target HP pool value) - (minimum HP pool value)] / (HP gained from fresh AP)
        • # of fresh HP washes = [(19200) - {[64 x (200 - 30)] + 1192}] / 50
        • # of fresh HP washes = {19200 - [(64 x 170) + 1192]} / 50
        • # of fresh HP washes = [19200 - (10880 + 1192)] / 50
        • # of fresh HP washes = (19200 - 12072) / 50
        • # of fresh HP washes = 7128 / 50
        • # of fresh HP washes = 142.56
          • Because we are trying to hit a minimum value and HP washes cannot be fractioned, it is important that we round this result up to the nearest whole number.
        • # of fresh HP washes = 143
      • Stale HP washes:
Required number of stale HP washes = [(Target HP pool value) - (minimum HP pool value)] / (HP gained from stale AP)
        • # of stale HP washes = [(19200) - {[64 x (200 - 30)] + 1192}] / 20
        • # of stale HP washes = {19200 - [(64 x 170) + 1192]} / 20
        • # of stale HP washes = [19200 - (10880 + 1192)] / 20
        • # of stale HP washes = (19200 - 12072) / 20
        • # of stale HP washes = 7128 / 20
        • # of stale HP washes = 356.40

A Brawler character is required to perform at most 276 fresh HP washes or 552 stale HP washes to achieve the target HP pool value of 19,200 HP by level 200. If a lower target HP pool value is desired, less HP washes should be performed.

Now that we have the number of HP washes that are required to hit our target HP pool values, we need to caclulate an HP washing strategy for each character class.

    Calculating HP Washing Strategy:

The very first step in determining your character's HP washing strategy is to determine the path of least resistance between singular HP washing and double washing. In order to determine this, we need to first compare the number of fresh HP washes required to hit the target HP pool value and the number of stale HP washes required to hit the target HP pool value for each character job. Whichever of these two pathways yields the lower number of HP washes required will be the path of least resistance and the strategy we will implement to hit our target HP pool value. If the two values are identical, we will default to using the number of stale HP washes required to leave the door open for double washing.

After determining the path of least resistance, we will divide the number of HP washes required for our selected strategy by the number of levels available for HP washing to find the required number of HP washes per level. The number of levels available for HP washing can be found by subtracting the desired HP washing starting point (in our case, level 120) by the desired HP washing end point (in our case, level 200). The result will be the minimum number of HP washes required to be performed in order to hit the target HP pool value by the desired character level to end HP washing.

The general formula can be written as:

    • # HP Washes per Level = (required # of fresh or stale HP washes)*** / [(HP wash end level) - (HP wash start level)]

***The total required # of HP washes used will be the lesser of the two numbers for fresh or stale HP washes required

    Target Base INT Values:

The easiest way to ensure that you will have the ability to perform the required number of HP washes to hit your character's target HP pool value is to be able to gain some amount of HP on every single AP that you earn. In order to do this, you will need enough base INT to gain enough MP from spending all 5 AP gained at level up on your MP pool to completely offset the amount of MP lost from resetting 10 AP out of your MP pool. This will do two things for you:
    1. Guarantee that after hitting this base INT goal, every time you level up you will naturally be accumulating enough MP to reset at least 1 AP out of your MP pool per level. This will give you the ability to HP wash later down the road. Your level of worn INT will only work to increase the number of potential HP washes.
    2. Guarantee that after hitting this base INT goal, every time you level up you have the ability to double wash all 5 AP accumulated at level up without ever hitting the minimum MP pool value, if needed. This will effectively allow you to gain some amount of HP on every AP you earn from this point forward, which in most cases will easily allow you to perform the required number of HP washes to hit your target HP pool value. In this regard, it is important to remember that only base INT (and not worn INT) contributes to gaining additional MP when spending an AP into your MP pool.
In order to calculate this recommended level of base INT for your character’s particular job, you will need to know the job-specific MP numbers and formulas pertaining to your character's job.

    Job-Specific MP Formulas:

It is important to note that all of the following formulas are assuming 2nd job advancement and onward. It is not worth HP washing or MP washing before you hit your 2nd job advancement. Additionally, these formulas are also adjusted for the skill "Improving Max MP", where available.

Because we are trying to hit a minimum value for our base INT calculations, we will assume the minimum formulas for the sources of MP listed to reduce negative margin of error. We will also assume no equips with bonuses to MP will be worn.

    Fighter:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 0-2
    • MP gained from AP: 2 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 4
    • Minimum MP pool value: (4 x Level) + 55

    Page/Spearman:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 0-2
    • MP gained from AP: 2 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 4
    • Minimum MP pool value: (4 x Level) + 155

    Archer:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 0-2
    • MP gained from AP: 10 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 12
    • Minimum MP pool value: (14 x Level) + 135

    Thief:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 0-2
    • MP gained from AP: 10 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 12
    • Minimum MP pool value: (14 x Level) + 135

    Magician:
    • Adjusted* additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 20-22
    • MP gained from AP: 28 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 30
    • Minimum MP pool value: (22 x Level) + 449
*Adjusted values take into account maxing out the skill "Improving Max MP". Because this is a 1st job skill for Magicians, the adjusted additional MP gained each level assumes that the maximum amount of additional MP is gained. This skill should be maxed out by the time you hit your 2nd job advancement, and you should not HP wash or MP wash before hitting your 2nd job advancement.

    Gunslinger:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 0-5
    • MP gained from AP: 14 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 16
    • Minimum MP pool value: (18 x Level) + 135

    Brawler:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 0-5
    • MP gained from AP: 14 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 16
    • Minimum MP pool value: (18 x Level) + 135

    Target Base INT Calculations:

In order to calculate the level of base INT that is recommended for your character, simply set the sum of your job-specific additional MP gained each level and 5 times the MP gained from AP equal to 10 times the value of MP lost from AP reset. Then, solve for base INT. This will be your character's base INT target to hit.

The general formula can be written as:
    • (Additional MP gained each level) + 5 x (MP gained from AP) = 10 x (MP lost from AP reset)

For convenience, the calculations for each character job are transcribed below:

    Warrior:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10)
    • MP gained from AP: 2 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 4
    • Goal:
(Additional MP gained each level) + 5 x (MP gained from AP) = 10 x (MP lost from AP reset)
      • (INT / 10)+ 5 x [2 + (base INT / 10)]= 10 x (4)
      • (base INT / 10) + 10 + 5 x (base INT / 10) = 40
      • 10 + 6 x (base INT / 10) = 40
      • 6 x (base INT / 10) = 30
      • base INT / 10 = 5
      • base INT = 50
It is recommended for a Warrior job to have at least 50 base INT.

    Archer:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10)
    • MP gained from AP: 10 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 12
    • Goal:
(Additional MP gained each level) + 5 x (MP gained from AP) = 10 x (MP lost from AP reset)
      • (INT / 10)+ 5 x [10 + (base INT / 10)]= 10 x (12)
      • (base INT / 10) + 50 + 5 x (base INT / 10) = 120
      • 50 + 6 x (base INT / 10) = 120
      • 6 x (base INT / 10) = 70
      • base INT / 10 = 11.66
      • base INT = 116.66
        • Because 1 extra MP is obtained only on each multiple of 10 INT and fractions of MP are not gained for intervals of less than 10 INT, it is important that we round up our required base INT to the nearest multiple of 10 INT
      • base INT = 120
It is recommended for an Archer job to have at least 120 base INT.

    Thief:
It is recommended for a Thief job to have at least 120 base INT.

    Magician:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10) + 20
    • MP gained from AP: 28 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 30
    • Goal:
(Additional MP gained each level) + 5 x (MP gained from AP) = 10 x (MP lost from AP reset)
      • [(INT / 10) + 20] + 5 x [10 + (base INT / 10)]= 10 x (30)
      • (base INT / 10) + 20 + 50 + 5 x (base INT / 10) = 300
      • 70 + 6 x (base INT / 10) = 300
      • 6 x (base INT / 10) = 230
      • base INT / 10 = 38.33
      • base INT = 383.33
        • Because 1 extra MP is obtained only on each multiple of 10 INT and fractions of MP are not gained for intervals of less than 10 INT, it is important that we round up our required base INT to the nearest multiple of 10 INT
      • base INT = 390
It is recommended for a Magician job to have at least 390 base INT.

    Pirate:
    • Additional MP gained each level: (INT / 10)
    • MP gained from AP: 14 + (base INT / 10)
    • MP lost from AP reset: 16
    • Goal:
(Additional MP gained each level) + 5 x (MP gained from AP) = 10 x (MP lost from AP reset)
      • (INT / 10)+ 5 x [14 + (base INT / 10)]= 10 x (16)
      • (base INT / 10) + 70 + 5 x (base INT / 10) = 160
      • 70 + 6 x (base INT / 10) = 160
      • 6 x (base INT / 10) = 90
      • base INT / 10 = 15
      • base INT = 150
It is recommended for a Pirate job to have at least 150 base INT.

As long as you follow this guideline and hit these base INT goals early enough in your character's level progression, you should have access to enough HP washes or MP washes to be able to hit your target HP pool value by the time you are level 200.

The next step in the process is to figure out when exactly in your character's level progression this target level of base INT should be achieved to ensure that the required number of HP washes to hit your target HP pool value can be performed.

In order to calculate this, we must take into account the number of required HP washes from both fresh AP and stale AP, and also each character job's recommended level of base INT.

Steps to Follow to Ensure Hitting your Target HP Pool Value for End Game Content, by Character Job:

    Warrior:

    • After this is done, reset all of the AP out of INT and re-spend them on DEX.

    Thief:

    • 30,000 HP maximum value
    6. When you hit level 200:
    • Spend 5 AP on MP.
    • Purchase AP Reset Scrolls from the Cash Shop for 3,100 NX each.
    • Reset 4 AP out of MP and re-spend them on LUK.
    • Reset 1 AP out of MP and re-spend it on HP. Repeat this step until you hit your minimum MP pool value derived from the formula [(14xLevel)+135]. For this step, it is important to know that you will lose 12 MP for every AP reset out of your MP pool.
    • On the very last wash before you hit the minimum MP pool value, reset the AP out of MP and re-spend it on LUK.
    • After this is done, reset all of the AP out of INT and re-spend them on LUK.

    Magician:
    1. Spend as much AP on INT as you can, spending only some AP on LUK for equips if you choose to do so.
    2. On each level up after level 100:

My guild needed an introductory HP washing guide tailored specifically to our needs that we could link on our guild board. I placed this in the guild section in attempt to minimize publicity, as this guide is not designed for the general populus. This is because of 2 reasons:

    1. The guide is specifically tailored to those new to HP/MP washing and to the server in general, and is therefore supremely simplified.
    2. The guide gives controversial advice in a step-by-step tutorial format.

Because the guide was written specifically and privately for our guild, I thought the "Guilds" section of the forums would be an appropriate place for it and the least likely place to be accused of giving unsolicited advice to the general server population.

If this is a breach of forum guidelines or the TOS, I am happy to remove the post and find another solution for my guild's needs.

Hi hi, didn't get to read through but thank you for your time & effort.
I'd highly suggest you to color & bold the titles and keywords in your guide as it will make it 10 times more readable and appealing to those who are interested :)

twing1twing1 Thank you for assembling all this information into one place.

Though - if you're reading this in 2023+, please be careful! Many of the suggested builds are out of date, and I would no longer recommend as a strategy for washing your character. Most notably, the introduction of the challenges system removed the need to wash to achieve many lower thresholds, leaving those that still want to wash to generally prefer to aim for 30k HP.

twing1twing1 thank you so much for authoring this guide! There's a ton of topics covered hear, and the breakdowns per-class are a great starting point.

    Welcome to 2024!

I've found that this post frequently comes up in Google searches when players are learning about washing. This guide does a great job introducing the concepts of HP Washing, as well as how the approach differs across classes.

What has changed since this post was written?

The game's roadmap now includes the HP Challenges feature, an alternative to Washing that allows characters (especially those on their first play through) to be able to participate in most if not all end-game content. This means that:

    1. It's now commonly suggested for first characters to do the challenges, while saving NX on a second account in order to make a washed character in the future

    2. Do not wash to lower thresholds, as you'll get more HP from the easier, and more accessible HP Challenges. For example, there's no reason for a Night Lord to wash to 11k HP, as they'll get more HP just from the challenges.

    Additionally...

    A. The community has also widely accepted that the Minimum HP Required for major bosses isn't always the best threshold. There are many, many different opinions as to what are the ideal thresholds, but generally the recommended Recommended HP for major bosses has increased.

    B. As the server has grown older, more and more players are washing to higher thresholds. Most notable, a significant amount of those washing are now aiming for 30,000 HP.

    What should I do next?

If you are getting familiar with the concepts of washing, and planning your character, I highly recommend Getting Started in MapleLegends. This guide will summarize how new players should approach washing, and what are the most common recommendations for a first character.
