The sequel to "what is the worst class?", now we have the much anticipated best class thread. I have narrowed the scope to bossing gameplay alone, since mages very clearly dominate the non-bossing meta. Other than that, you can use whatever metrics you choose.

However you define "best", what do you think is the best class for bossing? If you think multiple classes are tied, you can vote for multiple classes(up to 3).

Here is a sample poll from the endgame community,

Pretty telling that Bishop doesn't even make it on this list (and it wouldn't get my vote regardless). I think the best well-piloted classes (as in, reaching highest potential) are probably Sair, MM, and Bucc in some order. If we're basing it off the average or median player, then it's probably NL at No. 1 because of ease of pilot.

Corsair is inarguably the best bossing class in every circumstance except during main body PB. Having best in slot dpm, with or without party buffs, cannot be understated.

BM would likely be 2nd place if they could functionally dual client without needing access to a 2nd computer (afk hurricane). MM takes this position instead as a competitive DPS with dual client potential and the best class specific party buff in the game

3rd place is NL. Although they don't top DPM charts, they're mostly immune to poor balancing decision that don't directly target them. Their position is brought down by SE reliance; those of you that have bailed on a boss run because your only archer dc/d in the middle of a run know exactly how much of a liability this is.

Corsairs have the best skill in the game with Homing Beacon and it makes them stand out in any condition.

Night Lords are the obvious front runner in optimal team conditions, assuming teammates are covering their weak points like cleave mob spam.

Paladins also deserve to be contenders in the best bossing class discussion. They're basically built for bossing and have an entry-level requirement of progression.

    BMs are shit.

Corsair is not only the best bossing class, but also the best class in the game overall
Farming - CWK Exchange S tier, end game corsairs can function exactly like a mage in temple of time via air strike, extremely strong at card farming as well (air strike has more vertical range and casts significantly faster than mage ults with battleship cancel)
Grinding - Top tier at shoalin 7F
Bossing - Highest DPM class at most bosses (exceptions would be pink bean main body, possibly vergamot / toad)

I would argue that sairs and BMs benefit much more from optimal team conditions in the sense that it lets them be significantly more efficient in terms of % free fire dpm where NL’s damage is largely unchanged between free fire and somewhat chaotic conditions.

There seems to be a large misconception on forums and the server that NL’s do the most dpm in the majority of bosses. This is false.

In all bosses except PB main body corsairs with lesser gear have been shown to significantly out dpm NL’s even at the highest levels of gear/funding

Don't get me wrong - I consider Corsairs to be one of the best classes in the game and think they are really well designed regarding effort to reward.

By optimal conditions I meant situationally. Corsairs can deal with the chaos of mob spam due to Homing Beacon. Both Corsairs and Paladins can also ignore all the mobs spawned in Scarga and JC due to their priority targeting mechanism.

Night Lords do much less meaningful damage in any type of mobbing sense, which is why they're pretty dependent on others, but it goes often unnoticed because their weaknesses are usually covered by their party members.

That said, I still think Night Lords are front runners for their holistic placement in bossing. They're strong damage dealers from start to finish, while Corsairs scale greatly more towards the end. Also, there is never a bossing scenario where SE isn't given, but there is oftentimes a case where SI isn't available.

Why is mm voted significantly more than bm? And also aren’t the warrior classes capable of more damage than buccs? How and why are they ranked so highly?

    1. MMs tend to be ranked higher than BM because there's been some changes to the MM on this server. As a result, there's a whole slew of math involved where the server calculated that MMs had better DPM than BM until the very late levels and very high Weapon attack. It also helps that MMs main attack skill, Snipe, is not affected by boss defense, unlike BM's hurricane, so they can still output nice big numbers even at pink bean where physical damage is reduced by half as a whole.

    Also, waddling.

BMs are significantly more affected by beong knocked back than MMs thanks to the nature of Hurricane.

    2. I'd wager its because buccs can offer a variety of important buffs and utility, time leap and speed infusion come to mind, and are only slightly harder to wash than normal warriors, while 2 of the 3 warriors offer nothing but damage (that cannot be compared to the actual attackers anyway) and the third has a utility that is slowly becoming obsolete with the popularity of hp washing.

This server has had so many consecutive buccaneer buffs that they are not even all listed in the "Skill changes" page (and it is the class with byfar the most changes listed).
    https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/maplelegends-skill-changes.39396/

Buccaneers in early 2019 were actually believed to be one of the worst classes, but there have been so many buffs to the class that it is now one of the best.

It's less about knock-back, since that's something all Archers deal with from having naturally low Avoid. Another reason why MM > BM at Pink Bean because damage reflect procs on singular attacks, which can make Hurricane dangerous to use. For MM, the 5 hits from one cast of Strafe will trigger one instance of damage reflect (for 15k), but for BM, every hit of Hurricane procs, so if you trigger DR with two arrows from Hurricane, you eat 30k damage and die regardless of washing.

See JKNS' reply. To add onto the waddling, BM's hurricane is a continuous stream of arrows (press and hold one button), so getting interrupted cancels the skill, and then having to reposition is a big dpm loss. MMs are less affected in that their skills, strafe and snipe are one tap skills, so they can afford to reposition in between hits.
