Trash, Trash, and More Trash: Locals Enraged by Incessant Littering around Mushroom Shrine Gachapon

Mushroom Shrine has long been heralded as one of the best gachapon location along with Ellinia. Its convenient location is second to none, as it can be accessed from many parts of the Maple World. However, the locals of Mushroom Shrine are complaining about the excessive littering in their beautiful town. As people use gacha tickets by the hundreds, they throw away items of low value on the ground and complain in their buddy chat. The littering problem has been increasing since the start of the Valentines event, bringing more people than ever to Mushroom Shrine where they hope to strike rich.

The High Priest Kino Konoko says she sweeps day and night to keep her shrine clean, a task she didn't need to do so much before. "I need to keep the shrine clean, but I don't know how long I can keep this up," said Ms. Konoko. After the interview, she went down to sweep a Scroll for Helmet Def 60% with a tear in her eyes.

 

Health of Maplers in Decline as Dependency on Return Scroll Increases

Return Scroll is an integral part of Maple society, and has saved Maplers immeasurable amount of time. Indeed it would be hard to imagine Maple World without Return Scrolls. However, according to a new research, Return Scroll is causing Maplers to not get enough exercise.

Cardiologist, MD, in collaboration with Maple Research Institute, has been studying the health effects of overusing Return Scrolls for over a decade. He first noticed the trend when working at the Maple-Presbyterian Hospital, where he noticed that the vast majority of his patients overused Return Scrolls, often times above 10 per hour. In his groundbreaking research published in the Maple Journal of Medicine, Cardiologist, MD, was able to link overdependency on Return Scroll to poor cardiovascular health. The study also showed that since early 2020, overall health of Maplers has been declining as the number of Return Scrolls being bought has been increasing.

"As Maple society grows richer, the price of Return Scrolls is becoming negligible. This has caused people to use it even when not necessary, often times just one map away from towns," said Cardiologist, MD. "The most overused places are Ticketing Booths and Stations, which are often only a few second walk away from town. While we cannot deny the convenience of Return Scrolls, we must use good judgement on when to use them."

Maplers in Disarray as Cider City Goes on Vacation

On 29th of March, Maple world was sent to turmoil when Cider City closed. FM 2-16, which used to be filled with the merry lights of Granny's Food Stalls, was empty except for one lonely stall notifying the owner's vacation. Once a seemingly endless source of affordable ciders since mid 2022, Cider City's closure caused Maplers to scramble to find other accessible sources of cider, many of which were already sold out. This even caused some kind Maplers to set up temprorary "Substitute Cider City." Thankfully, the owner of Cider City came back from vacation on April 4th, and despite being exhausted, he opened shop again the same day.

Cider City is known for its unique pricing system, where the shops near the entrance is more expensive than the ones around the edges. According to the owner, he had the idea because only the ciders near the entrance were getting sold. Despite the modern pricing system, Cider City's affordable prices mean there is not a lot of profit; each cider sale nets around 2000 mesos, meaning even if a shop sold all the ciders, net profit would only be around 100k mesos. Every day, the owner has to spend at minimum 30 minutes to set up shop, not including the restocking time that varies by the store location.

The owner wanted to thank all Maplers: "both who use my shops or prefer to use mules they've made themselves, thank you for being the positive loving community that you are."
"It's amazing to see everyone enjoy a 20+ year old game and the few percent who are pushing the boundaries of this game (pasta members notably). I hope having the ciders in an accessible place, reasonably priced, gives you that little bonus of efficiency throughout your maple adventures."

 

El Nath in Danger: Failed Scrolls Cause Maple Warming

The black smoke of a failed scroll is regrettably all too familiar to Maplers. However, losing a scroll slot in the equipment was least of our worries. Maple Scientists recently found out that the black soot of failed scrolls have been adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere,
causing Maple Warming. This phenomenon has been exacerbated by acres of Maple tree forests being cleared to meet the ever increasing demand for scrolls.

Maple Warming has dire consequences in cold climates. Especially in El Nath, the temperature has risen so much that Cape of Warmness, Porridge, and Buns are no longer necessary: El Nath no longer has the annoying immersive experience of losing 10 HP every few seconds.

Furthermore, the increasing temperature has put a large strain in the Fauna of El Nath. The population of Leatty has plummeted due to their sensitivity to temperature change. This is especially concerning because they are the primary source of food for Yeti, Hector, and Pepe. This has already changed the habits and drops of those at the top of the food chain. Most notably, Werewolves now drop Scroll for Spikes on Shoes 10%, a change rarely seen in the Maple World. Concerned Maple Scientists are keeping a close eye on the already strained Werewolf population to protect them from poachers seeking rare scrolls.

There are still many consequences to Maple Warming that we do not know about. As Maple residents, we must exercise good judgement when using scrolls.

Nimbus soars over competition in Zakum Speed Run

Nimbus makes quick work of competition in the Arcane x Konoha Guild Alliance Event, finishing Zakum in under 8 minutes. Weapon cancels proving to be the deciding factor, Nimbus pulls a slick come-from-behind victory as throwing stars fall to the ground and cheers of elation rise through the air.

Wednesday, May 3, 2023, guild alliance Arcane and Konoha hosted a community event in MapleLegends at Zakum's Altar. The Zakum run was a 3-team event participated by Arcane x Konoha, Nimbus, and Chroma x GangGang. Nimbus utilized a roster entirely consisting of single-target attackers to defeat Zakum in a blistering 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Rounding out the roster was Leetoratto (BM), Hollovv (NL), Alaei (NL), Eugenie (NL), Creampiee (MM) and Sanji (Bucc).

Frontrunner Arcane x Konoha pulled out in front early with a roster utilizing cleave with SwordSlap (Hero) and JustACookie (Archmage). They made quick work of Zakum arms before falling prey to RNGesus as consecutive weapon-cancels acted as storm clouds on their parade, removing any hope of a first-place victory. Arcane finished second.

Chroma x GangGang utilized a meso-bombing strategy as a clever way to bridge the severe level-deficit between Chroma and its two competitors. Several blunders stopped Chroma before they could get going, as they fell victim to not having a Bishop for dispel on the Shadowers in Dark Sight. Chroma performed well as underdogs, but ultimately were left amongst the rubble as their competitors gathered for post-Zakum group photo.

Nimbus was awarded 102 million mesos and 12 prestigious coins for their victory.

 

Mapler Highlight: PoultryWoman



Have you ever followed a trail of random eggs in Free Market? It leads to FM 1-7, where PoultryWoman sells her specialty eggs for only 69 mesos each. She records all egg sales, and keeps a leaderboard, where she lists the top ten customers. Ipina sits comfortably at 352 eggs, an impressive feat considering only 3-7 eggs are restocked per day.
