But the triumph didn't end there. Coorie had also reached a new milestone: possessing a remarkable 25 million meso! The sheer magnitude of this accomplishment was awe-inspiring. With an increased wealth at her disposal, Coorie now had the potential to venture into more lucrative investments, targeting valuable items with higher profit margins.



With her eyes set on maximizing her returns, Coorie spotted a tantalizing opportunity—a Gloves for Attack 30% scroll listed at 18 million meso. Dismissing them as overpriced insignificant scraps, she almost moved on.



However, a curious instinct prompted her to take a closer look. To her astonishment, those seemingly worthless scrolls turned out to be Bottomwear for DEX—oh my, what a find! These precious scrolls easily fetched a minimum of 2 million meso each. Without hesitation, she snatched them up, savoring the unexpected thrill of the discovery.



Returning to her store to list the newly acquired scrolls, Coorie noticed a message vandalized on her storefront. It seemed to be from another "deal hunter", though the intent behind the words remained enigmatic. Uncertain whether it was a compliment or a veiled expression of dissatisfaction, Coorie pondered the impact her success had on others. Day 13 - Exploring the Reverse Scrolling Method



Today, Coorie embarks on a new scrolling technique introduced in "The Art of Scrolling" known as the reverse scrolling method. Traditionally, scroll attempts followed a pattern of using 10% and 30% scrolls for the initial slots, culminating in 60%, 70%, or even 100% scrolls. However, this conventional approach often proved costly, depleting one's wealth before reaching the higher rate scrolls, or face the risk of completely ruining the item when using 60% or 70% scrolls after successfully passing the 10% or 30% scrolls on the initial slots. The reverse scrolling method aims to alleviate this issue by scrolling an item in reverse order, starting with higher success rate scrolls and concluding with 30% scrolls.



The guide primarily focuses on items with 5 slots, such as earrings and gloves with INT scrolls, due to the valuable stats offered by these scrolls. Their limited number of slots significantly reduces the chances of jeopardizing the items through excessive attempts. Today, Coorie decides to apply the same principle to a bathrobe...

Despite deviating from the recommendation of using items with fewer slots, she opts to demonstrate the technique using Overall Armor for LUK scrolls, known for their affordability among similar scrolls.



The first step involves attempting to pass 5 slots using 60% and 70% scrolls, ideally within the first 5-6 slots. This initial phase significantly cuts down on costs, mitigating the risk of the pricier 10% and 30% scrolls. Once the first few slots are completed, Coorie shifts her focus to 30% scrolls for the remaining slots. Depending on the outcome, she adapts her strategy for the subsequent scrolls.



In Coorie's case, she passes the first 5 slots with a mix of 60% and 70% scrolls on her 12th bathrobe, fails a 30% scroll on the 6th slot but successfully passes on the 7th, resulting in a gain of 15 LUK with 3 slots remaining. Several options lie ahead.

1. The first is to continue risking with 30% scrolls for the remaining slots, hoping for at least one successful scroll to reach 20 LUK without a boom.
   
   
2. The second, a less risky approach, involves using 70% scrolls and aiming for at least two successful scrolls, potentially achieving 19 LUK or even 21 LUK.
   
   
3. The third option is to opt for 60% scrolls, ensuring no booms but with a lower chance of reaching the same potential of up to 21 LUK.
   
   
4. Finally, the fourth option is to use 100% scrolls throughout and settle for a respectable 18 LUK.

Coorie chooses the safer route of using 60% scrolls since the current 15 LUK bathrobe can already fetch a decent amount of meso even if it fails. Fortunately, she successfully passes the next 2 slots with 60% scrolls. To conclude the scrolling process, she decides to utilize a 100% scroll, resulting in a satisfying 20 LUK bathrobe. Coorie is immensely pleased with the outcome, a testament to the efficacy of the reverse scrolling method, and her ability to adjust and thrive in different circumstances.

It has been a rather uneventful day for Coorie. With little happening in the market, she found herself staring at her shop inventory, where her last remaining Liu Bei Dagger caught her eye. This particular dagger had been sitting unsold for quite some time, becoming an eyesore in the store.



Frustrated with its stagnant state, Coorie decided to take a bold approach. She resolved to go all-in with Dagger Attack 70% scrolls on the weapon, fully prepared for the possibility of it being destroyed in the process. In her mind, she was determined to boom it into dust.

Before proceeding, Coorie took a moment to admire the dagger and reminisce about how it was once one of her most prized possessions. It represented her journey and progress thus far. However, she quickly dismissed these sentimental thoughts and reaffirmed her resolve. She pushed aside the idea of using 60% scrolls instead, believing that once she made up her mind, she had to follow through without hesitation.



With a mixture of trepidation and determination, Coorie began the scrolling process. The first two scrolls lit up, transferring their power into the dagger. Doubts started to creep in, and she momentarily considered changing her strategy. However, she reminded herself not to waver and decided to forge ahead. Slamming the third 70% scroll onto the weapon, it turned into ashes, startling her. Coorie tightly closed her eyes, bracing for the worst. To her surprise, as she cautiously opened her eyes, the dagger remained intact. Relief washed over her, realizing that despite her initial intent to destroy it, there seemed to be a lingering attachment to the weapon.

Taking a deep breath, she rapidly used three more 70% scrolls, and to her astonishment, each one passed successfully. With five successful scrolls and only one slot remaining, Coorie found herself contemplating whether to back out of her original conviction.



However, she firmly told herself, "I will not be swayed!" The last remaining slot became the most butt-clenching moment as she applied the final 70% scroll. Her heart raced as the scroll passed, followed by an immense sense of relief. The agony was finally over, and the outcome was better than expected.



Confident that the enhanced Liu Bei Dagger would finally attract buyers, Coorie gleefully placed it back in her store with a premium price tag, knowing that this time, it should sell... right?

Surpassing the previous highest profit of 14,450,000 mesos was a remarkable accomplishment for Coorie.

Additionally, even the Zhu-Ge-Liang Wand, initially obtained for some scrolling fun, turned out to yield unexpected profits. Coorie's ability to seize opportunities and make the most out of every item further solidifies her position as a skilled and successful merchant.



To add to her success, Coorie has also achieved the next milestone of possessing 50 million mesos. With items flying off her store shelves, it's time for her to replenish and expand her inventory.



Coorie embarks on a shopping spree, eagerly seeking out good deals that are listed below 75% of the market price. She plans to list them in her store at 85-90% of the market price, aiming to sell them quickly and earn back her investment along with a modest profit. This strategy allows her to generate mesos that can be reinvested into other lucrative deals.



But the deals don't end there. Coorie stumbles upon a treasure hut—a Helmet for DEX 70% scroll listing at 1 million mesos, despite its market value estimated to be around 5 million mesos, and a Gloves of Attack 70% scroll, priced at only 500k mesos. She recalls selling one of these scrolls before for a hefty 7.5 million mesos, which she had initially obtained for 5 million mesos. This time, instead of feeling the bitter sting of watching such deals slip away, she finds herself on the winning side.



Returning with the valuable pieces to be added to her store inventory, Coorie notices a message left at her store, exposing her attempt to sell the Green Paint Brush at 200k meso, while the NPC sells it for 100k. Coorie acknowledges that envy and sabotage are inevitable with her rising success in the market. Despite encountering such attempts to undermine her success, Coorie remains unperturbed. Day 16 - The Wall of Regrets



Today, Coorie decided to decorate the Museum of RIPs wall with frames showcasing missed good deals. While she shared a few missed deals previously, there were many more that went unmentioned. Coorie's belief that there is always a good deal waiting to be found at any moment holds true. Let's take a look at some snapshots with Coorie as she decides how they'll be added to the frames on the museum wall.



First, we have a clean 1 INT Red Marker sold for 150k meso. These gloves are commonly found at 1 to 1.5 million meso, so it's not a significant amount, but still a good deal for acquiring pots to last during lower-level training. It may not be significant enough to hang on the wall, but it's worth acknowledging.



Next, we have a clean Yellow Adventurer Cape sold for only 1k meso, which typically sells for up to 3 million meso. This is quite a decent deal, deserving of a small frame.



Following that, we have a clean Sad Mask with the lowest possible accuracy stats of 9, sold for 500k. Despite its low stats, it should still be worth around 2 million meso, perhaps. However, since it's less impressive compared to the Yellow Adventurer Cape, we'll skip framing it. Sad indeed.



Then, we come across a scroll of Gloves for Attack 60% sold for 90k, which is quite a disappointment considering that it commonly goes for 500k meso. It's safe to say we won't be framing this one.



Moving on, we have an Earring for Dex 60% scroll sold for 300k, while its market price is around 2.5 million. Perhaps we can allocate a small frame for the scroll category.



Next, we stumble upon a treasure trove of scrolls, which is a considerable loss. The combination of three scrolls, worth about 9-10 million meso, was sold for only 2.5 million. These scrolls definitely deserve a place on the wall.



Finally, we come across a significant loss—a pair of clean level 130 Elemental Wands, just a few stats shy of perfection, sold at 1.1 million each. An expert market appraiser deemed their value to be 20 million, making it a substantial RIP. This item will occupy the largest frame on the wall without a doubt.



As we reach the end of our showcase, it appears we still have one frame left. Perhaps Coorie will frame the good deal she snagged from the last treasure hut encounter, which she has already sold for a total of 13.5 million meso, despite acquiring them for only 2.5 million. Although it's not a missed deal for Coorie, it certainly is for you! Haa!

It was available for 28 million mesos. Uncertain about its profit potential, Coorie weighed her options carefully. Eventually, her hunger for adventure won over, and she decided to invest.



Before proceeding with the purchase, Coorie noticed the shop owner nearby, tending to his establishment. A glimmer of hope sparked within her, and she mustered the courage to ask for a discount. Much to her delight, she managed to negotiate a further 1 million mesos off the price tag. It was a small victory, but every meso counted.



With 11 million mesos left in her coffers, Coorie pondered her next move. What better way to test her luck than to purchase another Mysterious Coin Pouch 1? Hohoho... she thought. Excitement filled the air as she opened the pouch...,

As she strolled through the market, fate played a bitter trick on her. Coorie stumbled upon a clean Elemental Wand 8 boasting a maxed magic attack of 150, priced unbelievably low at 4 million mesos. Realizing the immense potential for profit, she was filled with regret for missing out on such a remarkable deal. Disheartened, she reluctantly continued browsing other shops.



However, amidst her pouting and disappointment, something caught Coorie's eye—a strangely familiar Elemental Wand 8 listed for 15 million mesos, unsold. Astonished, she quickly realized that it was the very same wand she had seen earlier. In the final minutes, amidst the rush and anticipation, Coorie stumbled upon a remarkable find—an Overall Armor for INT 10% scroll priced at 1 million meso. It may have been a small deal, but Coorie's keen eye for bargains couldn't resist this opportunity. It is a testament to the fact that good deals can appear at any moment, even in the final seconds before the server temporarily shuts down.



As Coorie eagerly awaits the server's return, she can't help but relish in the thrill of this last-minute discovery. It serves as a reminder to always keep an eye out for opportunities, even in the most unexpected times.

Anticipating a surge in player popularity, including both newcomers and returning players, she recognized the exclusive chance to obtain Maple Equipment, a limited-time occurrence each year. As Magicians and Assassins were two of the most popular classes during the old school MapleStory era, Coorie expected a high demand for Maple Staff and Maple Claw.



However, due to her commitment to the Free Market Challenge, Coorie was unable to directly take advantage of the event. Nonetheless, she sought a viable option within the market to invest her mesos wisely. Scroll investments seemed like a promising choice, particularly Claw for Attack 60%, Staff for Magic Attack 60%/30%. These scrolls were affordable and well within Coorie's current bank balance.

During her extensive market searches over a period of time, Coorie carefully acquired a substantial quantity of Claw for Attack 60% scrolls priced 200k mesos and below, as well as Staff for Magic Attack 60% scrolls priced at 50k mesos and below. Additionally, she secured Staff for Magic Attack 30% scrolls priced at 400k mesos and below. Coorie's prediction was that these scrolls would increase in value midway through the event, once the market was flooded with Maple Equipment and players sought scrolls to enhance their newly acquired items. While a bold prediction, it wasn't entirely unreasonable, considering the dynamics of the market. Coorie understood that no investment came without risks, but she believed that choosing scrolls with lower price tags minimized the potential downsides.



Furthermore, Coorie decided to invest in Crossbow for Attack 30% scrolls after overhearing players express their desire to enhance their Maple Nishada Crossbows to achieve over 100 weapon attack. Recognizing that the scrolls were still relatively inexpensive, she acquired several of them priced at 1 million mesos or below, two days before the server maintenance commenced.



Coorie held high hopes for her predictions to come true, not only for the potential financial gains but also to earn recognition for her insightfulness. While Coorie herself wasn't partaking in the festivities, CherubiKiwi was. It was a peculiar situation as both characters were controlled by the same player.



Due to the relatively low number of shops, Coorie was able to scan the entire market in under an hour. Despite the reduced availability, she discovered that the scarcity of shops did not equate to a scarcity of good deals. Unfortunately, she missed out on a couple of opportunities. First, there was an Earring for DEX 60% scroll sold at 500k, which had a market value of around 2.5 million mesos. Then, she missed a Helmet for DEX 70% scroll sold at 450k, with a market value of approximately 5 million mesos, a saddening situation.



Nevertheless, Coorie managed to seize some excellent deals. She acquired a clean 1 INT Yellow Work Gloves for 200k, which typically sold for 1.5 million mesos. It was a decent purchase. Additionally, she successfully purchased a clean Red Sauna Robe for 350k. While unsure of its exact market value, Coorie estimated it to be around 3 million mesos.



Another great find was an Eye Accessory for INT 100% scroll selling at 300k, with a market value of around 3 million mesos. This particular scroll was commonly mispriced by new players due to the misconception that 100% scrolls offered low-quality stats and many of them can be purchased from NPCs. Similarly, the Helmet for INT 100% scroll was often mispriced by newcomers.



Lastly, Coorie managed to obtain a clean pair of 3 INT Red Emerald Earrings for 1 million mesos, typically valued at 7 million mesos. Interestingly, she already possessed another pair of 3 INT Red Emerald Earrings that hadn't sold at 6 million mesos. Perhaps lowering the selling price for both earrings would make them more enticing for players to purchase together, allowing her to quickly recoup her mesos for other investments.



With the anniversary event in full swing, Coorie anticipated that the event raffle would flood the market with Mysterious Coin Pouches. She looked forward to indulging in some fun gambles if her bank account allowed.



In the spirit of good luck, she decided to open a Mysterious Coin Pouch 1 to kickstart the event and hopefully uncover some exciting rewards. Day 20.5 - Caught Red-Handed Doing Dirty?!



During a moment when Coorie and CherubiKiwi were together, a follower of Coorie's journal happened to witness CherubiKiwi dropping mesos on the ground.



Although it is possible that the player's comment was meant in a joking manner, it raised a question regarding Coorie's integrity in maintaining the journal. As stated in the disclaimer section of the journal, some snapshots were captured with the assistance of another character controlled by the same player. These snapshots were rearranged to create a more engaging and coherent storytelling experience.


Note: While the transactions within the same session may not be recorded in chronological order, the sessions themselves are presented in the correct sequence as indicated by the white and grey segments shown in the snippet.

However, it is important to note that all the transactions and market dealings recorded in the journal are solely within Coorie's bankroll. Any deals beyond Coorie’s wealth do not contribute to her Free Market Challenge and may be acquired by another character, such as CherubiKiwi, that is separate from her market endeavors.



These characters, including Coorie, CherubiKiwi, IniMiniKiwi, ChiffonKiwi, and CocoaNutKiwi, are all controlled by the same player and will often interact and transfer items and mesos among themselves. While Coorie's meso bank is limited by the challenge, the player utilizes these other characters for various purposes such as participating in events, farming mesos, or grinding levels.

CherubiKiwi is a Bishop, the first character created back in 2018. IniMiniKiwi is a Shadower who has accomplished a full gear build with a base stats allocation of 4 STR and 25 DEX, shown here. ChiffonKiwi is a Spearman who serves as a Hyper Body mule, and also providing additional storage for equipment and weapon scrolls. CocoaNutKiwi the Hermit functions as a Meso Up mule and also serves as storage for armor scrolls and ETC items.



Coorie wants to assure her followers that she remains committed to the challenge and maintains the integrity of her journal entries. Coorie acknowledges that the Free Market Challenge she has undertaken may take a considerable amount of time to complete, and there is also the possibility of not achieving the desired outcome. However, she approaches this challenge with the primary intention of enjoying herself and having fun, regardless of the final outcome. The journey itself holds value and provides an opportunity for Coorie to learn, explore, and engage with the MapleLegends community. Ultimately, it is the joy and fulfilment derived from the challenge that Coorie seeks, making it a worthwhile endeavor regardless of the final result.
