Other [GUIDE] MapleLegends on Android phone

Requirement: android phone snapdragon CPU variants (tested Samsung s22 ultra)
Battery consumption: 15-25% / hour
Stability: most maps runs 120fps+ mostly. Genesis cause it to drop to 20-40fps, bubbling map in subway runs 50-60 fps.
How it works: dxvk now translates DirectX 8 to Vulkan (May 2023), box86 translate windows to android, termux allows Linux on android
**Note** this is NOT REMOTE / STREAMING. The game is actually running from the phone itself.

1. Find mobox here.
   1. Install termux, termux x11, and inputbridge.
      1. inputbridge emulates the keyboard, you can also use your own preferred key mapper. {insert} & {F5}key don't work
   2. Android 12 and above
      1. disable the "phantom process killer" in developer settings
2. Install mobox via termux using this command
   1. curl -s -o ~/x https://raw.githubusercontent.com/olegos2/mobox/main/install && . ~/x
   1. Select box86 version when prompted, NOT wow64 version.
3. Download latest maplelegends winewrap Mac version here
   1. Extract via 7zip, then extract contents again. Results maplelegends.app folder
   2. Alternatively, windows version work too, just need the Mac version's maplelegends.exe
4. Load mobox via termux, start wine.
   1. Adjust compatibility settings depending on your phone.
   2. "Aquire wake lock" so it won't autoclose
   3. Set up your x11 screen preferences
      1. Use "exact" screen resolution
      2. Tap to simulate left mouse click
      3. Tap+hold to simulate mouse drag
      4. Two finger tap to right click
      5. Forced landscape mode
5. Move maplelegends(Mac) folder onto c drive
   1. Wine sees your android files as D drive
   2. Alternatively maplelegends window version works as well if you have the mac version's maplelegends.exe
   3. Edit the legends.ini file if needed
6. Download 2 dll files from here
   1. move+replace into system32 folder of wine's c drive
7. Start > apps > winecfg
   1. Applications tab, select windows xp
   2. Graphics tab, check emulate windows box, and adjust resolution
8. Start > restart

• Start>Run>maplelegends.exe

Troubleshooting tips:

1. Game freezes after character selection:
   1. Winecfg, x11, and game's ini file using matching resolution size. Press enter at select character screen instead of mouse click.
2. Do not click minimize the game, it won't restore.
   1. Instead, in game, go to system settings, press ok, it should auto adjust to full screen.
3. Unable to type.
   1. After game loads, Click outside the game and back to enable typing.
      1. Press and hold the title bar to move the game window so you can click outside the game.
   2. Android "back" or "return" key pops up the keyboard.
4. Termux > mobox > settings > dxvk settings
   1. Change the fps limiter to 60!!! Reduces GPU/CPU usage. Saves battery and reduce heat.

• Inputbridge sometimes turns itself off when changing maps, just tap the cog button to turn it back on.

 

Not sure if I understand...

Maybe? Android apps are very CPU dependent. If the tablet has snapdragon CPU I don't see why not. I don't have any tablet to test out though.

 

Attached a new screenshot to show the control pad. Inputbridge can customize the buttons , takes some time to setup how you like it

Finished a lot of optimization on the inputbridge overlay. Attached 2 screenshots with and without the icon overlay.

Probably works with a USB or Bluetooth keyboard/ controller
