    So some of you have heard of "ISIS-chan" It's basically an anime character drawn by anti-ISIS activists.

    Quote: "Right now, if you search online for the term "ISIS," you'll be pelted with images of intimidating thugs murdering innocent people and waving AK-47s and black flags.

    Anti-ISIS activists want to reverse that, so that when you search for "ISIS," you get this cute girl instead. To achieve that, activists have put out an open call to everyone around the world who can doodle."

    Here you can see how ISIS-chan is supposed to look like. You should make fun of ISIS, and not the Muslim religion, because ISIS is not what Muslims represent.

    I actually think this is a pretty neat idea and I actually would love to "draw" ISIS-chan myself and post it somewhere.

    Neat idea, but it's always the question how much of an impact it will have. I'm sure it'll have an impact on Western society and their views on ISIS, but I personally doubt it'll actually change something in the Middle East with ISIS (not to sound pessimistic...).

    I'm glad they made clear not to criticise the Islamic religion and only ISIS, though. People tend to connect the two mistakingly.

    Agreed! And yeah, I'm pretty sure people in the Middle East don't give 2 shits about it, but at least people in the West will pay more attention to it, I mean, what attracts more attention than a cute anime girl? Besides, if they know more about it, maybe more anti-ISIS-activists will come in action!

    This is an interesting way to raise awareness and deal with the situation in the west (or, Japan).

    To play devil's advocate: doesn't anybody think that this, in a way, downplays the seriousness of ISIS?

    Not sure if fighting violence with violence is the solution. If anything, violence would fuel the fire and for ISIS supporters, it would convince them to keep fighting for their cause.
    Of course, I'm unsure if you can get anything reasonable in their heads.
