the value of an item has nothing to do with how likely it is to get the item, it has to do with how much people are willing to spend on it. that is literally the only factor.

if someone is willing to spend 800m on this, then the value of the item is 800m. there is literally no other factors.

 

Yeah its not like mathematical models or statistics are EVER useful for estimating the value of items in the real world. Thanks for clarifying that for us.

Merching activity guarantees price will converge to the fundamental price pretty quickly.

Using probability to figure out the price of an item is very useful because that is the true value of the item given the scroll prices. Sure someone may pay more or less for it, but the correct, fundamental price can be derived. Any excess supply or demand that causes the market price to differ from the fundamental price will fix itself once scrollers/merchers see that arbitrage opportunity and exploit it; if I saw 10atk gloves selling for 800m, I would buy every single gfa until either GFA prices are 10x what they are now, or gloves are no longer overpriced.

In other words, it is unsustainable for a scrolled item's price to differ from its correct price for very long, because all "scrolling" is is realizing a probability distribution, with a bit of variance around it.

Sounds like you are the one that doesn't know how economics works.
