100% gms-like???

I was just thinking ( not hating) The server says 100%. Gms-like, BUT! Some things got nerfed. It isnt 100% gms -like right?

The suggestion is, stop nerfing things :3

Its advertised as GMS-like, not 100% GMS-like. If it was 100% GMS-like than we would have no vote for nx, no minigames in FM, EXP Gachapon, etc.

Nowhere. But GMS had them.

Which are actually coded in Legends, but I went against it, so its not implemented.

That is a very interesting statement considering how many suggestions have been turned down that royals has, say boss exp command etc. I know I've been apart of the group typically rejecting multiple suggestions that would change the game but even I can admit that v62 was no where near perfect and some changes, like multiple changes already in place, were much needed.

Bro tbh you joined this after reading "2x exp". That alone wasn't GMs like. As latte said, small changes have to be made or people will get bored. IMO the server runs on the line of nostalgia / still fun to play a lot.

I see your point though.. But tbh buddy

If you dislike I'd suggest finding a 1x server that doesn't accept votes etc etc.

A GREAT gms idea that wouldnt harm the server that much is nerfing the shops by maximizing the usage of AFKd shops (shop permits). This decreases the amount of fm rooms filled up and creates a more gms atmosphere

To be honest I'm fine with updates and such, Just as long as we don't get to where Gms got to. Starting off with V.62 as a base and slowly changing things as long as everyone agrees (Cough most) is fine Imo...

Legends is already 100% GMS-like. Most of the mechanics of the game are very similar to what it was like back then in 2008. A few modifications and nerfs here wouldn't hurt as long as they don't detrimentally affect the current gameplay. This, however, depends. As I type this I should be currently engaging in hibernation mode, but I can not. So I guess while I'm here I'll talk about this whole "GMS-like" argument we've had happen a few times or so since we've been around.

Ever since starting out in August of 2012, we've always said we were mostly GMS-like, with a few custom things here and there. GMS-like meaning the core aspect of this is like you'd expect how it was circa November 2008 on GMS. You travel around killing mobs just like on GMS, you go to the job instructors just like on GMS, so on and so forth. Never have we said we were a "GMS replica", meaning a 100% copy of GMS v62.

Which is what some people have argued about because we are not 100% GMS alike. Sure we can be just like GMS 100%. So first things first that we would have to remove is the Faust and Capt. Lat PQs, and make them completely back to what they should be normally, just regular bosses. Can't have those because we need to be the "GMS replica" we are expected to be don't we? Oh which means that event bosses would have to go too, and speaking of events, GM events on GMS pretty much stopped happening by early 2007, so those will have to go too. Which those being gone would also include the entire event trophy/maple leaves system and everything that is along with that. Now there were monthly events back on GMS in these days, or more like events that lasted until the next patch arrived. Since we'll be v62 forever, we'll go with monthly events so those can stay, but with different rewards of course since there's no need for event trophies and maple leaves anymore. No more achievements either.

So no more Faust/Capt. Lat PQ, no more GM events, no more achievements, and no more event trophies/maple leaves. So now we're more "GMS-like", but we've left off a few things. The only needing 3 people to do KPQ will need to be changed back to 4 people, and the level limit back to 21-30 from the current 21-35. Also, LMPQ will also need the limit of people it normally needs to do it, since it's currently 2+. Boss PQ will have to go entirely too, because there were no such thing as a Boss PQ on GMS back in those days. So the PQ's are dealt with now, onto the Trade button warping people to FM. Yeah that'll have to go too, the Trade button is for MTS after all so if you want to go to FM, there's walking to there. Maple weapons were only obtainable every May for Maple's anniversary, so those will need to go too. In our case, it'd be every August when our anniversary month arrives. No more Mr. Moneybags to forge lv 64 weapons from the lv 43 ones as well. So there goes the strless/lukless/dexless builds for the most part.

I could go on even further than this, but hopefully the point of this can be seen by now. If we really did remove every single thing that didn't exist on GMS back in v62 to be "GMS-like" as people seem to use instead of "100% GMS replica", then there wouldn't really be much to do at all. Furthermore, this is suppose(d) to be fun. While we do strive to be challenging and not be one of those absolutely horrid high rate servers that you can finish everything and hit the damage cap within 2 hours, we also don't intend on being super hardcore either. Basically an exact copy of GMS v62, which is impossible to do.

So for the ones that go berserk when we either add something that's custom (example being Cody/Spindle doing event trophies/maple leaves), we're a GMS-like server at the core with some custom things here and there to make this more entertaining. Hopefully this will stop the potential arguings we might have in the future about this.

Duplicating GMS v62 as it was back then is functionally possible but it would feel very stagnant socially (the social aspect which, in itself, was arguably the most important factor of the game).

Also, better fix, errr "unfix? some of the ropes/ladders"... Oh yeah, and fix... errr I mean unfix the thing so when you jump off cwm and pot/use a buff, when you hit the teleporter, you don't go back to the end of valley of heroes 1. GMS still has not fixed the glitch if you "fall off of the mountain" and pot/spam a buff, you don't fall down to vally of heroes 1, instead you get telied to the beginning of whatever map your on (aka on lower ascent, if you spam booster/pots when you hit the portal that would normally send you to the end of valley of heroes 1, you get telied back to the bottom of crimsonwood mountain lower ascent [trolling ftw]).

Part of the community also want Temple Of Time, Temple Of Time got released v72, why playing a v62 server if you want the v72 implemented. If you want that stuff, go and play a v82 private server or v72, the community shouldnt decide the updates, they only want new updates with ToT and stuff for their own sake, and many people forget it is still about the fun. Not only about lvling. I am sure 30% of the community is only playing for the highest or best attacker... I dont remember anyone playing fort being the ''best'' Player around. My point is. People forget that it is all about the fun. And not about lvling and having the best range and not about being dexless and stuff.... Kimberly Navi phnx I am sure you all didnt create server to be all about having the best range , best stuff, having mules to make everything easier. But for FUN

I don't understand? If your goal is to be the best then high range and skill to play your class/character are literally the two most important things.

I'm getting more and more confused. Under what context would it not matter what level you were and what range you had? If you were looking to boss, level and damage are by definition the metrics by which groups decided to take you to runs or not.

Many people are only thinking about lvling and their range. And as you said some people think that it is fun. But many people who dont think its fun are still complaining about their range because everyone else is too. Some people even quit for those reasons. I think people are going too far with their ranges and lvl.

Btw, should we stop here we are scaring off new players ;-;

But I mean, those two are the only two metrics for game progression. Everything you do in this game (quest, grind, farm, scroll, merch, etc.) is towards making your character stronger. If someone is sitting in the FM chatting with people that's not really playing the game, that's just using the client as a medium to interact with other people. If people don't find the core nature of the game to be fun, then maybe the game isn't for them?
