It’s been five years since the beginning of Maplelegends and having been around one and off since 2017, it’s strange to think we’ve gotten older and grown alongside the game. There are countless memories that we can look to, from hunting for hours for a newspaper hat in Zipangu (and never getting it) to suffering through PQs (imagine thinking it was a good idea to play the exact same class). I think it’s safe to say that the friendship between the two of us in real life and online would not be as good if we weren’t able to spend hours on end just talking as we grinded various quests throughout the maple world. As we both started playing Maplestory near the original launch, Maplelegends also provided that same nostalgia of calming grinding with a little bit of boost, solidifying it as the peak private server in our eyes.

Maplelegends has been ol’ reliable from the beginning, always there for us when we couldn’t sleep, or needed a pick me up after a long work day. Through the ups and downs of our personal lives, it has stayed a comforting constant and more than once has given us a much needed space to forget about the things stressing us. Even when we took a break for three years, we were able to come back, pick up where we left off, and still feel involved in the community. Happy Birthday Maplelegends, and thanks for being one of the unspoken heroes of our lives.

Notes: Honorable mentions include suffering through sparsely populated Big Puff Daddy and Snowman maps at odd hours of the night. Minteafresh helped brainstorm the memories and did the final editing of the card. Keirilius did the bulk of the first written draft and contributed the mushy feelings of friendship.
