Boom! Off to a good start. Farming GFA for now is still a bit rough because I do pretty horrendous damage.

Thankfully, this map will help resolve my poopie damage.

Current progress!

With regards to goals etc...
- I intend to get the Bone Helm, but the quest is absolutely horrendous so I'm still debating.
- Perhaps it's a good idea to start hp washing early. The funds logically aren't as vast when playing an ironman, so saving on pot costs would be helpful for having 20m by/around lvl 70 for HOGGIE.
- I will probably stay at Entrance to Sky Forest until ~50. By then I hope to be strong enough to start farming GFA's and OA/Helm dex scrolls.
- For the GFA farming, I might just complete the 1500 Mateon Tentacles questline.

Oh yeah also I'm an idiot, thought my Diao Chan sword was lvl 43, but it's 48. Imagine the horror when realising I was gonna keep using my lvl 20 sword for 5 more levels.

 

Got it when farming Cloud Fox for the Newspaper hat! Super lucky drop.

Brief disclaimer: I will not lie and say that I'm going to commit myself to regular updates. Nobody would believe me either way :')

However, I do miss journaling and a short update could serve as a benchmark to track upcoming progress.

First things first, where did we leave off?
As I returned from my hiatus, this is the list of characters I currently consider somewhat relevant:

One of these characters sticks out like a sore thumb, being the brawler. I've included it solely because I do have a slight itch telling me to finish my bucc. They seem self-sufficient and reasonably diverse in their options. This is nice, seeing how I've spent the last year exclusively playing on my laptop and thus don't care for multiclienting atm.

As for the other characters, some of them have goals, others have been temporarily or permanently benched.

The remaining characters fall somewhere inbetween. They're either attackers I don't currently feel motivated to play or mages that serve purely for multimaging if the need for meso is high.

That brings us to the next point: Where do we go from here?
My playtime is fairly limited these days, so I won't be setting any overly ambitious goals or picking up any big, novel projects.
These are my current goals, in no particular order:
- Get T10 ring on ShadAinz [250/300 sets, see spoiler below]
- Reach ~4000-4500 min range on ShadAinz [See other spoiler below]
- Reach ~1.3k tma on Itadakimasu for Ob2 [1290/1300]
- Reach 163 on Itadakimasu for NT [161/163]
- Reach ~1.3k tma on SnootBoop for 1h skele [????/1300]
- Reach 135 on ConeHead [128/135]
- Finish washing on ConeHead [help i need so much more nx]

Shad Monsterbook update

From this screenshot, it becomes painfully apparent that I took an impractical approach to card hunting on my shad: I didn't stick to zones, I simply hopped around doing whatever other card(s) seemed easiest at the time. This leaves me with a fairly fragmented selection of remaining cards.
However, there's still more than enough easy sets to complete!

This is my current range on just cider.
I'm honestly still ways off reaching 4000-4500 min range, which would open up a bunch of new farming maps or speed up cwk exchange farming.
As of now, I'm not quite sure what would even get me the remaining range, aside from gaining a whole bunch of levels. My gear doesn't feel very lackluster, improvements there would net fairly minimal gain, relative to the gap that still needs to be breached.

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm profiting a lot from holding on to Feeed 's gear, which he very generously blessed me with before I insisted he tag every single item. Granted, this image does paint a slightly twisted tale, as I sold a few of my own comparable equips, so I wouldn't have been entirely broke without Feeed's contribution.

(ha ha filthy gear inheritor!!!!!! IM NOT BRAGGING ABOUT IT SO LEAVE ME BE)

What have I achieved today outside of writing a longwinded journal entry?

Not much, maybe a few mil from equips/pickpocket meso while cardhunting on Shad.

I had a good bit of time to spare today, and yesterday's card farming did get me back into the groove a little. So today, I figured I'd pick up where I left off and try to hammer out some more sets.

Day ??: One of my less fortuitous journeys.

Howdy!

Inbetwixt two hiatuses, a message on Discord caught my eye.

Seeing how kiwiz has been quite open about their very succesful FM Adventures, I figured this was an offer worth taking seriously.
Evaluating the trade, I was getting 47 wands that each had a decent number of 60/70s already passed on them, meaning I only needed to finish them with 30s for decent odds at making back my money.

After thinking it over for the grand span of ~15 minutes, I decided to go for it. And so it began.

Alright, locked and loaded, time for my favorite activity: Entering Maple-related data into Excel.

Step 1: Estimate how much I'm likely to spend (should have probably done this prior to buying the wands)


Step 2: Purchase said wands.

Step 2.5: Do some rough basic math to figure out my odds of succeeding (No image for this until Elon Musk releases Neuralink)
47 wands, each with at least 2 slots. Passing two 30s in a row has a probability of roughly 1/11. This sounds promising.
I'd be looking at a potential 4 or 5 wands of roughly 170-172 tma, maybe even ones with a remaining slot.


Step 3: Acquire the necessary scrolls. My Discord messages were shockingly ineffective, so I ended up repeatedly owling and buying all wand 30s of 7m ea or less. Accumulating the meso for this required me to sell off a bunch of my accumulated scrolls, heartstoppers, and leftover equips.


Step 4: Start scrolling the first batch because I have absolutely no patience and buying the remainder of the scrolls probably required me to sell off some of my (hopefully succesful) first attempts.


This image isn't entirely accurate, since I left a few wands with 1 remaining slot after doing the first half of the scrolls. Regardless, here's an accurate representation of the first batch:

While my spirits were still quite high at this point (I had a wand 5 that went +2 and had 1 slot remaining, a wand 6 that went +2 without slots remaining), I wasn't very fond of seeing my boom chance so far had been close to 45%.

Fortunately, the next day, a bunch of other things sold and I was ready to go for batch 2 of scrolling.

Again, spirits were quite high, I got another +2 with a remaining slot. (Booming it happened later, thank you Nightz for providing the scrolls that led to my downfall)

I hoped that perhaps my luck would have turned around. Surely, across a sample size this large, averaging a boom chance of close to 45% would be unlikely...

Nope, the second batch provided me with average luck in terms of statistics and less-than-desirable luck with regards to which specific items boomed.

Right, so, let us tally up the total investment and the total (potential) revenue.

Granted, 2 of these 30s were given to me for free, so subtract ~14m in scroll costs.

Seeing I had invested ~715m already had me somewhat skeptical about whether or not I'd be turning a profit. As a matter of fact, I was entirely sure I would most definitely not be turning a profit. But, those wands still had to be sold off, so let's do a rough pricecheck.

Remaining wands:
1x 172 tma wand 5 - Estimated at 165-200m.
2x 155 tma (1slot) wand 5 - Estimated at 1m on a good day. Also not worth slamming another 30 on.
1x 154 tma wand 6 - Estimated at 1m on a good day.
1x 155 tma wand 6 - Estimated at 1m on a good day.
1x 172 tma wand 6 - Estimated at 165m.
1x 163 tma wand 7 - Estimated at 20m.
1x 163 tma wand 8 - Estimated at 15-20m.

Everybody whip out their calculators, it is time for disappointment!
Taking the low end estimates for all wands, we get 165+1+1+1+165+20+15 = 368m.
Adding another cheeky little equation, we get 368m (revenue) - 715m (costs) = -347m.

It is safe to say, slight losses were suffered. Granted, I am aware that my own somewhat risky approach led to this outcome. Had I not boomed the 172/1 wands, I would have been looking at revenue that would put me close to breaking even.
However, I started this whole endeavour because I like gambling scrolls.

So there you have it folks, time for another hiatus.
