Spoiler: Intro

Somebody recently mentioned they got MapleLegends running on a SteamDeck and that had me wondering, could I run it on my phone as well?
So I started to try things out with Wine, Mobox, Winlator, but nothing seemed to work.
Then I noticed the Wineskin version for MAC and decided to attempt to use that, however I was still not having any success, wondering if perhaps my MAC game folder was outdated, so I decided to post in the MAC installation guide thread in the hopes somebody could upload it for me.
Enter Cak33, who said they got it running successfully on a mobile phone and had some suggestions and pointers in how to get it to setup.
After several tests and tweaks and info from Cak33 I finally got it working consistently on several devices.

NO ROOT REQUIRED!

1. So first off you download and install Winlator CHMOD (Download below) *you may need to enable install from unknown sources in developer settings.
2. Then once that's all finished you create a new container and select your desired resolution (it might be equal or bigger than the resolution you want to play MapleLegends in).
3. For graphics you can use System, or if you are running on a SnapDragon Elite CPU you could download a driver yourself as well (download below).
4. For DXVK make sure to use 2.4.1. *1.10.1 will NOT work.
5. Make sure to put the Box64 preset to either Compatibility or Performance (depending on what works best for you).
6. Next you start up the container and install 7Zip (you can skip this step if you already extracted the Wineskin package on your mobile phone using ZArchiver for example)
7. And then extract the contents of the Wineskin MAC package.
8. The game and files are found under drive_c > MapleLegends (Not C:\ on your Wine container, but the drive_c folder from the extracted Wineskin package).
9. You can change the Legends.ini file if you want to run in a specific resolution or change some other settings.
10. Last step, copy ws2_32.dll and ws2help.dll to the C:\Windows\SysWow64 folder, if they already exist just replace them.
11. Now you can open MapleLegends.exe and it should pop-up with no problem and there
    you go, MapleLegends running on your mobile device

FAQ
Q: The container is stuck on "starting up" after the initial setup.
A: Extract the CXArchive on your phone storage instead using a archive app like Zarchive, then when creating the container you only copy the .DLL files and then start MapleLegends.exe from the D: drive instead.
Q: The container crashes on startup even though it started up fine initially.
A: Did you move both the .dll's into system32? You you only need to move ws2help.dll into system32.
ws2_32.dll and ws2help.dll BOTH go into syswow64, you only need the one for system32, replacing or removing ws2_32.dll in system32 will break the container.
Q: Nothing shows up when I start MapleLegends.exe
A: Swipe left from the side of your screen and select task manager, see if you can see it running, it not try opening it again, it also does this on Windows randomly. If you do see it running, make sure you have NOT set it to an invalid resolution, so far most stable has been. 800x600, so make sure your HDclient=0 and Windowed=True in the Legends.ini file. Also try using different graphics drivers (usually system works).
Q: Most of the time the game doesn't start
A: Try running the app in Windows Vista mode, instructions below:

• Click Start
• Click System Tools
• Click Wine Configuration
• Click Applications Tab
• Default Settings Item -> For The Windows Version Dropdown -> Select Windows Vista
• Click Appy
• Click OK

error -2005530516 seems to be related to directX.
The Windows Runtime Error -2005530516 failed to create D3D device (0x8876086C) appears when DirectX is unable to detect a supported graphics card.

What device are you using and what is your DXVK version?
Perhaps you can install a specific Adreno driver for your device?
Or alternatively, check out the directX settings in the container.

 

Alright so this error is usually a graphical thing.
First of all, try this version of Winlator: https://github.com/jhinzuo/winlator/releases/download/dev7/app-debug.apk

And this driver: https://github.com/zoerakk/qualcomm...es/download/elite-35/adreno-driver-800.35.zip

(.46 doesn't work).

Next up you want to change the startup services from essential to normal. (See screenshots)

And also you can remove the dxvk debug hud. (Also see screenshot, its in environment variables section).

It would be best if you already extracted the wineskin archive on your phone using Zarchiver.
(First extract only payload~ and then open payload~ again with Zarchiver and extract the contents of it).

Next start your container and copy both the ws2_32.dll and ws2help.dll to c:/Windows/syswow64.
Then copy ws2help.dll to c:/Windows/system32.
DONT REPLACE OR DELETE ws2_32.dll FROM SYSTEM32, IT WILL CRASH THE CONTAINER ON THE NEXT STARTUP.

And next up, just find and locate MapleLegends.exe on the D:/ drive and open it.
This should work (atleast on my Asus rog and a samsung galaxy fold).

Let me know if you encounter any issues this way. Though if you do, please try making sure your container size is 1280x720 and that the Legends.ini file has HDClient=0 and Windowed=True
If it still fails, try using System driver instead of the custom downloaded one (should be fine as long as its not turnip).
