You seem to have 3 extra SP in the 1st job section, unless I'm missing something?

1st job
Level 10: +1 power strike
Level 11: +1 slash blast +2 improved HP recovery
Level 12: +3 improved HP recovery
Level 13 - 16: +10 improved maxHP increase + 2 slash blast
Level 17 - 22: +17 slash blast +1 power strike
Level 23 - 27: +18 power strike
Level 28 - 30: + 5 endure + 4 "free" points

Power strike: 20/20
Slash blast: 20/20
Improved maxHP increase: 10/10
Improved HP recovery: 5/16
Endure: 8/8
Iron body: 1/20

20 + 20 + 10 + 5 + 8 + 1 = 64

 

Can confirm on my DK that this is three extra SP. I reset points out of slash blast in 3rd job to max Endure.

I have a quick question: I'm a level 90 DK and I've exclusively been using spears, even though I took the hybrid route. I started with Spear Crusher followed up by Dragon Roar and next I'm thinking of going Fury - Spear. Your guide mentions that I should have Fury - PA with no Crusher, but if I ever decide to switch to PAs I won't have Crusher. What's the thought process behind this?
This is my first Spearman, and I've never advanced to 4th job, so perhaps in 4th job Crusher won't be useful if I switch to PAs?

On the 4th job you get a passive (hex of the beholder) that enables stun on your Fury attacks. During bosses you will use spear w/ crusher, but it can be useful to stun some mobs with fury. During grinding you will use only fury with PA.

 

Spears have their maximum multiplier on Stab attacks and their minimum multiplier on Swings. Pole Arms flip this. Crusher is always three Stabs, Fury is always one Swing. Fury has utility for Stun with Aura of the Beholder in 4th job, so it’s viable to add points on both versions, but Crusher is purely a damage skill that contradicts with Pole Arms (which is why bossing is pretty much exclusively done with Spears).

Also guys, there was a comment here about increasing Power Crash to be about 50%/60% and instead use those points elsewhere, like Elemental Resistance. What's your opinion on that? Again, I've never reached 4th job so the gameplay might be different by then, but to me it sounds like a reasonable tradeoff.

 

Hello! I made my DK Pre-Endure changes which is now mid 3rd job, should I take out points from slash blast in order to max endure?

I think this guide is outdated and shouldn't be followed. NEVER EVER unless you want a hard time and genuinely grief yourself or others build pure polearm. Polearms are terrible they don't scale well at all many are also slow speed. Not maxing elemental resist is setting yourself up for failure. With the new dark knight changes ginseng or honsters are fine depending on your wallet. Get beholder lvl 1 at 120 along with rush then max berserk. Max armour crash and dragon's blood.

back when this guide came out (about ~11 months as of writing this), i did look over it myself and had my own concerns and doubts about some things in it, but decided to hold back my thoughts due to:

1. not feeling like i understood the class well enough myself and needed more experience
2. it seemed like a work in progress, and while i questioned releasing the guide like that, the author was at least responding to people in the remarks, so perhaps it was gonna get updated over time

while i still have much to learn about dark knight as a class still and dont consider myself to be that great of a player, i do feel like i understand enough, on top of this guide feeling abandoned, to where i can confidently say that this guide not only puzzles me, but i dont understand why it exists in the first place. being nice about it, this guide reminds me of an early access indie game coming out on steam made by an amateur game developer whos still tryna get their degree.

why was the bossing section included if its coming out later? saying you didnt include a hp management section due to only using 1 potion and calling it a day is wild to do when the intention of a guide should be to guide people to what you think is the correct path. why not take that as a chance to actually learn hp management yourself and improve yourself? i could go on but ultimately my point is that this guide, even when it originally came out back in april 2024, felt incomplete and arguably outdated, and i dont really get why it was even published in the first place

normally i wouldnt care for people doing things like this...but it seems like new players to the class/the server in general are actually using this guide as a reference tool. i cant really blame them since this guide came out not even a year ago...youd think itd be the best around because its the newest right? unfortunately, that is not the case, and im concerned enough to where i will chime in and say to anyone that is going through the comments of this guide and plans to use it for guidance and information...i heavily encourage that you do not, or get someone who is knowledgeable on the class to fact check things. truthfully, you are better off going into the questions tab on the ML discord and asking for advice there. even if you get hit with troll responses that dont help (because you likely will sadly), you will at least get responses that are trying to be helpful and will be helpful.

i also want to clarify that this reply isnt meant to be a personal attack against the author or anything, because i dont think ive shared a single word with them so itd be pretty insane to have any personal grudges against them :`) but if you put out any piece of work to be judged by the world out there, then one must be ready for any kind of response to it, good or bad. i also dont want people to use this as an excuse to bully the author as well, so please dont be a cunt towards them because of this guide or anything like that

put simply, this guide is OUTDATED and i heavily encourage that new players DO NOT use this as a reference material on its own.
