Then it isn't so much a scroll price guide, but scroll price raw data.

Guide would mean you know general prices on the back of your head.

And yes because he doesnt update this thread daily.

A single reference should be monitored atleast daily if not more because thats the only source you have. Scrolls don't fluctuate as much because of the sheer amount in the market (bigger sample size). So if you only monitor it say every 5 days, then yes the reference will always be higher, and because players want to always get more out of white scrolls the chain continues ultimately inflating white scrolls for no reason.

I was gonna type a lengthy post, but instead I'm just gonna laugh because high end items are going to be continually fucked in the ass LMAO

Edit: Honestly, I am so glad I bought my white scrolls before a guide like this came out.
Regardless of how "fair" or how this is based on raw data, it's pretty clear that this popular market guide has a HUGE guiding influence on the rising or dipping prices of items.
It's pretty clear (in simple terms) if every day I check a price of an item, and I am only allowed to check the unsold items, the price I'm going to get is going to be on the higher end. Then, forum dwellers will check this higher end and normalize it in their shops as the average price. Pretty simple to see ANY single item in any sort of reasonable demand will continually rise in value.

    ^Very simplified explanation

The guide is being written with data that's clearly incomplete and there isn't a way to obtain raw fair data without simply just using your better judgement. I can see why people would be pissed at C++C++ because honestly if I gave any sort of single shit about the current economy on maplelegends I would be too. But the guide and people following it is only a symptom of the real issue with the economy: people are fucking stupid, and knowing this C++ can and only will continue presenting data in this manner.
And while I think that's unwise that's his choice.

Let's keep in mind that for a period in time of about 2 weeks while this guide existed, scroll prices also dropped dramatically. This happened when the player base was high (~1000 at any given time) and the bonus EXP/drop rate was in effect.

It is possible that this guide has some amount of influence in the increasing prices of certain scrolls, but we should not discount the possibility that reduced scroll supplies (due to player base dropping by nearly half in the past few weeks) or reduced drop rates may have a larger effect on the economy than the scroll guide itself.

This is a guide with clearly spelled out details on what it's a guide to. It's up to the individual to use this resource as they see fit or not at all. I know nothing about market prices and just wanted some starting funds for a Warrior, so it was great to list most of my scrolls from Gachapon around the minimum asking price and have them sold in less than a day. I appreciate the effort that OP has put in to manage and update this thread.

Value has always been (and always will be) subjective. I doubt that OP has been the only person noticing that WS are selling at ~80m on the regular. Why wouldn't I push for 85m and see if I can squeeze out a few extra mesos? All of a sudden, market price is now 85m. Someone else takes notice and decides to push even higher. It's up to 'consumers' to decide they'll refuse to pay more than 80m. If someone is buying at 85m, then someone has decided they're okay with paying that. You can't be upset with the community for paying higher prices.

C++, thanks for keeping this thread updated. I think it's a fantastic tool to help with fair pricing.

Well by the logic of the guide, white scrolls are now an average price of 1.211b. Seems legit.

    • I do not record prices that deviate significantly from the average unless a significant number scrolls above the average price have been sold.

    What is logic anyway?

How do you decide what "significantly deviates" from the guide?

If a price is above 3 standard deviations from the current average.

can somebody explain to me why so many people correct him that often ?
its really hard and teddious to check the fm yourself and he does it when ever he has free time.

he cant use owls for every single price that would be way to expensiv so he gives ca prices.
if the prices dont change to much he just let them be and work on other 20+ prices.

nobody is really force anyone to use this guide
everyone can decide for themself for how much they going to sell their scrolls/items.

so give this man some slack
