    Welcome to the client patch notes of February 2023.

    Client version 1.16.0 focuses heavily on the required support and client-side changes for our Dark Knight rework. Additionally, the second (and most important) part of our work for stability improvement is now completed, and further visual QoL tweaks have been implemented.
    This thread is not gonna look as flashy and interesting as some of our past client update posts, but the improvement is still as, if not more, substantial.

    Do note this thread in particular is about the client changes only.


    Gameplay Changes

    Dark Knight:

    Some of the design choices for our reworked Dark Knight skills required features that just weren't supported in our client version.
    In order to achieve our goals, the following elements have been added to our arsenal:

    • Implemented the ability for skill casts to ignore Stunned status.
    • Altered the damage formulas to ignore damage mitigation under specific conditions.
    • Added support for damage reflection against all sources of monster damage.
    • Added support for skills with both passive and active character layer effects, in first and third person.
    Additionally, our damage calculation formulas have been altered, in order to reflect the updated Berserk damage curve discussed in the Patch Balance thread.


    Game Stability

    While we've already done work on stability improvements for our client, the results haven't been satisfying quite yet.
    As a result, we continued our work of recoding and reorganizing, which resulted in the streamlining of certain, let's say, "exotic" feature handlings that had a good chance of confusing our poor ancient executable.

    Please note that there's a chance that our updates will cause the client bootup to be slower than before; this will be rectified in a future patch.

    Once again, this should influence memory management during bossing, but hopefully in a more meaningful way than the previous patch. Beta-testing of these changes yielded overall positive results, but as usual, we encourage everyone to keep informing us of any potential crashes. The provided logs have been instrumental in our work.


    Miscellaneous

    Visual clarity:

    Back during last summer patch, we introduced a tweak to the transparency of Big Bang, in an effort to help reduce the confusion generated by obnoxious graphics.
    We will be continuing on that trend, but this time, rather than skills, we are providing an option to fully disable cosmetic weapon effects on your client.

    By setting the new Legends.ini option, "WeaponEffects", to "false", you will be preventing those weapon animation from showing in-game.

    Wider megaphones, but fixed:

    The new Avatar megaphones introduced during the Halloween event will no longer forever peek from the side of your screen, if they were sent while your Megaphone settings for Avatar megaphones were in "text-only" mode.
    Instead, they will correctly hide all the way out of your view, in all resolutions and all setting options.

    Spikes and Warmth: the return

    We first implemented support for Scrolls for Spikes on Shoes and Scrolls for Cape for Warmth during last year's Valentines patch, but the items themselves hadn't seen the light yet.
    There was a clientside bug introduced with the last patch stability updates, that prevented the tooltips from correctly working when the new strings were added; as a result, we disabled them completely for one patch cycle, while we worked on a fix.

    Since that bug is no more, the tooltips have been re-enabled, and the scrolls can now freely claim their existence on our server.
