Pirate Corsair BGA guide

This is going to be a really messy not well formatted guide but hopefully it will help some!

Corsair has an interesting time at BGA, however overall I think its an at least mid-tier pick for a 3man BGA and I would say worth having for 4man BGA.

I will also note if you want to play BGA optimally its active and sweaty! But this is a mushroom game and you can also just ignore this guide and go at it for fun

When your boat breaks (and it will break)
At this point its straightforward, cast rapidfire from a distance and place octos as soon as they come up. I've also noticed placing octos in the corner seems to give the cleaves an easier time maintaining the pin.

When BGA and BGB Spawn
This is going to be the part of BGA that sucks most as a sair. You are going to want to egg Bodyguard A as this determines the spawn time of The Boss, in theory the sooner it spawns the more optimal it is for your cleaves to DPM. Not to mention Bodyguard A also stuns your team (and likely you).

Firstly you will want to maintain octos up as much as possible as these bosses have extremely high defense and they will provide very good DPM for you.

Secondly you will notice that Bodyguard B casts an attack of bullets raining down on you. This attack does a lot of damage (~10k) and if we reference our BOAT HP chart we notice that even a level 200 corsair would only be able to tank ~28 of these before the ship breaks.

The way we can extend our ship duration is sweaty but this is the way I have best found.

Stay unmounted until the first bullet rain attack from BGB, as soon as you get hit mount your ship and begin attacking. After 3 attacks of cannon, if you do not see a bullet approaching you do a perfect dismount (using rapidfire during dismount and holding) and once the bullet rain hits you remount and repeat. If you do see a single gold bullet approaching, attempt to get hit by it and continue attacking (it will give u iframes to dodge the next bullet rain) but keep in mind you still need to keep the count up for the next dismount.

Note that during the attacks with a golden bullet instead of 3 counts of cannon it is ~5 counts. So if you do not get hit by the golden bullet I would dismount after 1 more cannon!

During the dismount you can also cast octo when its up, and or depending on the number of mobs you can use air strike to "cleave" a bit.

When The Boss spawns
At some point during this The Boss will spawn (and BGB and BGA will still be alive). The Boss's attacks are very simple to dodge, there will either be a blue wind thing under you or a massive purple area around you. Simply dismount these as best as you can. During this stage its going to be really difficult to dodge both BGB's attacks and The Boss, just do your best.

When BGA dies
Once BGA is dead (the one you initially birded) I highly recommend birding BGB so you can free yourself from the prison of timing attacks sooner.

When BGB dies
This is the point that I feel sair becomes good. The Boss's attacks are easily dodge able so your boat should be mostly up for the remainder of the fight, and you provide solid single target DPM against the boss. Bird the boss, keep octos up, and continue to dismount all of the The Boss' attacks. And the only part to worry about now is when anego spawns.

When Anego Spawns
Killing anego is really the reason that I think sair is worthwhile in BGA. You should be prepared for her to spawn and ask your team to not rush anego quickly to give you some time to bird her. This is tricky and will not be something you can do 100% of the time.

• If you land a bird on her: Awesome, I recommend popping heartstoppers (or if its the first one using an apple as this should cover all 3 spawns of anego) and simply focusing her down while dodging The Boss's attacks still. She should die so fast that your team won't need to worry much after the first HSS
• If you can not land a bird on her: I would still recommend popping stoppers (or apple) and use torpedo to cleave her. During this time you still want to be looking for an opening to bird her if it comes up!

And that's really it. If I find any more tech I will update it, but I was dissuaded from running BGA and I hope this helps sairs want to run BGA and also maybe help convince people that taking a sair to BGA is not nearly as bad as taking a NeedyLord

 

Wanted to update the perspective slightly as I have run more.

BGB's attack animation can be visible if you pay attention and I think is ~100% dodgeable until the boss spawns. (At this point the boss can block his animation)

So I would recommend that and then switch to the counting method if you are not able to see BGB's attacks.

In my last few runs I was able to clear with 2-3 boat breaks total!
