    Honestly speaking do you think time between DRs across certain runs have gotten longer over the past few months comparative to a year ago? And are players strategizing to prolong this delay between DRs?

    My thinking is yes, and it’s not a secret.

    Using barrel to induce non-attack wander state whilst still maintaining aggro without using your other aggro priority skills that will ‘wake up’ bean in order to prolong wander and delay DR most definitely is.

    You can try to loophole this but the end result is player influenced abnormality of boss mechanics which imo falls under the spirit of the ToS abuse section.

    That... isn't even what's happening. Nobody is using Barrel to do that.

    The way you induce wandering is by casting... surprise! Nothing. You do nothing. It starts wandering on its own.

    Ran auf this week after a long time without visiting that boss
    Paladin got nerfed a lot this summer. i have memories of 11m DPM before that

    sometime the bucc would get seded in barrel and auf would tail them. it was a funny sight.

    If players are sitting in the barrel while others attack a monster such as bean, thats been classified as aggro abuse for many many years, even before the release of bean. Any idiot dumb enough to run in a squad pulling that and not report would be liable for an 'association with abuse' ban anyhow. If thats the concern, then runners are playing with fire when theyve historically banned an entire pb squad for much less. Audit time?

    On the other hand, ceasing aggro-pulling attacks and hoping the bean stays in a wandering state longer to squeeze out a bit more uptime between drs is no different than the bishop standing outside of ht arm range. If anything, the internet connections of the runners in a squad has more impact on how aggressive the bean aggro's/reaggro's than anything the bucc themselves does. One could claim its cheesy, but the fix lies in fixing aggro jank, same as ht arm. Unless we expect our buccs/warriors to be constantly barraging/magnetting and bishops to always stand so arms can attack.

    After doing some deep diving into VOD review, I believe that actions being done on certain parts of the fight might be influencing other areas of the fight, but it could be unintentional. It seems like wander state induced by barrel confuse tech during times where DR is on cooldown can potentially delay casting of special skills, and as a result, more skills will be off cooldown simultaneously. Once put into wander state, these skills tend to play out slower than usual which give players an RNG advantage as the game engine tries to prioritize activation over each other. In a wander state, they seem to not cast these skills back to back but rather with some attack skills mixed in which directly influences free fire uptime past its intended design. If ever pinned/aggro'd in this wander state, tPB seems to return to normal and regains its ability to cast these skills back to back - like the deadly minibean into DR combo.

    We notice this behavior in other boss fights when new skills are unlocked by reaching a certain HP threshold. For example, Horntail heads go dumb for a few seconds every time a new HP threshold is met and it 'learns' a new skill that it needs to shuffle into its attack patterns. However, we don't reach freeze states because its attack patterns are consistent and can't be influenced into inactive states through player skills so their cooldowns cycles line up. This does not seem to be the case for PB

    I completely agree with the statement that ping and randomness of server strain supporting a global audience is probably a bigger factor of why things break down.

    I disagree that using barrel confuse to force PB to attack less is similar to that of bishops avoiding standing in range. As an aside, I also think arm freeze meta is unfair to cleave and should be reworked somehow. This topic has already been debated and there are rules written specifically for this case. As long as they are attacking other parts, it should be fine to do so because they are simply choosing the best option of two. The better comparison would be if attackers intentionally attacked arm from outside of range so that it would go inactive. This already qualifies as aggro abuse.

    Personally, I'm a huge fan of these types of deeper understandings of game mechanics and strategizing around them within official rules. They're interesting and make this boring ass game a bit more robust. I just want an official statement so biases for any future judgment can be minimized.

    With that said, I think Gurk should be required to continue maintaining this thread like the good samaritan he is. I hear that he is also accepting discord messages for DPM updates.

    If that were the case, demo has the exact same effect of being 'untargetable'. Technically for a longer period than a barrel, though its often timed to dodge an incoming attack (and know you arent going to get sedded between casts). Meaningful time might be similar or less than barrel. My theory is still something tied to the auto-aggro algorithm, in tandem with real world network latencies in a large raid situation. Some runs the bean is on top of its casts no matter what, and other times I'd have to try to actually get it to actually dr. That usually held throughout a fight, and seemed to happen more with certain runners than others. Though im operating on old observations- ive not seen bean in a while (and likely wont until its less inhospitable to heroes).

    Im not convinced, but would need more info. The only other skills on cooldown are zombify and minis right?

    For the case of HT, it's worth noting that the body part KB threshold is 50,000 damage. Easily dealt with a genesis meaning bishops has a high effectiveness in keeping HT in a "functioning state". In the case of PB it's 200,000 which rule out one major force that make current aggro system a working one in what i would call "intended design".

    Pure nate spam was only 12.658m dpm under the same conditions.

    So it seems i am able to get a 6.3% dpm increase from nate dashing.

    First HT on my new Corsair. I ran a 12man and we started left side.
    DPM 40 HT buff/rage near the end, Echo/MW20/SE/SI 25 avoid pot. I fell a bunch and boat got omega wrecked.
    Hopefully in 10 more levels I'll have better boat hp and gotten used to HT somewhat. Still happy to be able to run on a new class. Left side rope is my enemy :']

    Greeded right side almost as hard as I could with only minor restraint (i.e. not cleaving arm during RH cancels) and wings somehow still died after all heads. Still rocking my 123 spear so potentially a lot of room for improvement if I wasn't priced out of alchupiz market.

    HT DPM 30 major improvement still much to work on with falling off and dismounting along with boat breaks until i get to 20khp+ to feel more comfortable. SE/SI/MW20/ECHO/HT Buff and we stopped attacking for 40 seconds to not go into early seduce.
