When I'd walk left/right and jump with ALT, my skill on CTRL would trigger too. After spending the day tinkering, I managed to find the solution. So, for posterity:

ISSUE: While using a windows keyboard while running Parallels on MAC, pressing ALT+Left/Right or ALT+Shift+Left/Right would trigger the CTRL button to be pressed too.

HOW TO FIX: Open up the Parallels application and click on 'Parallels Desktop' -> 'Preferences' on the top left bar. Then navigate to the 'Shortcuts' tab and select your virtual machine from the list on the left. Scroll down until you see the Option+Arrow Key shortcuts that translate to CTRL+Arrow Key and toggle them off. See the attached image for exactly which shortcuts need to be toggled off. You can now exit out of Preferences and play with access to your ALT/CTRL keys again!

    Happy mapling!
