    Hello Maplers,

    A few changes and updates have been made to the website and forums.

    Forum:
    • Forums now show advanced statistics to make it easier to view the latest posts, as well as other information.
    • You can now mark a forum section as read by double clicking the icon, similar to v-bulletin style forums.
    • When you tag someone now, @Kimberly@Kimberly you will see a mini avatar next to the tag.
    • Guests can only see first post of every topic from now on.
    • The warning system has been improved which we hopefully don't have to use very often.
    Website:
    • Quest EXP Rates has been added onto the sidebar.
    • The rankings order should now show correctly.
    • You can now click the "News" and "Events" links to show all of the posts in those sections.

    noticed this a couple days ago, not sure if it is still there: on the front page tickers, users are able to see threads that they dont have permission to access. you should probably get rid of that if you haven't o:

    What is the point of this change? Don't you think it's a bit off-putting to force people to have to register to view posts if they were previously happy just lurking and keeping up to date with any news and discussions. And won't it also affect your status on search engines since the web bots won't be able to crawl the forum pages?

    They can crawl the whole front page still, as well as all topics. And yes, it makes people from other servers and guests have to register, which takes less than 1 minute, literally.

    EDIT: People marked as "ROBOT" are not effected by this.

    That didn't really answer the question but okay. Although that response just makes it seem as if it's a ploy only to get the registered user count up.

    A lot of places do this, some even worse where you can't see anything at all. There's a lot of reasons behind this why forums do this, and one of them is so forum owners can moderate their traffic properly.

    I still don't understand why you only let the first post be seen to guests if replies can't. It doesn't make any sense. Why not just make the whole forum or all threads hidden from guests?

    This is one reason:
    A lot of updates an announcements are posted on forums only, so we don't have to force everyone to register just to see them.

    Right but that makes sense for the announcements board but it is that way for the Feedback, report bugs, and other boards too. That is what does not make any sense to me

    For bugs usually it is sufficient to just look at the first post since it contains most of the info already. The reports are also more for the admins to look at rather than players.

    For feedback and other sections, if you wanted to read or participate this would require you to register at least for reasons that Kim mentioned. Though I'm not exactly sure what benefits it brings, it doesn't trouble people too much to make a forum account either.
