Going to try doing lvling up alone, any advice?

There isn't really any good or bad choice but i can say that building a priest as your first is fine since its beginner friendly and very self-reliant with good meso saving potential.
In terms of solo training, you'll moreorless be hitting the chronos families in Ludibrium till you're about level 50 to move on to GS where you can grind even till your late 80s.
Post-GS you can transition to Himes for party training since it is more efficient or perhaps CDs in Taipei.

 

Ice/lightning is probably your best bet. Clerics have some advantages at levelling but they're horrible at solo questing.

 

IL is definitely the best solo option
Priest is the best for making early mesos, but everyone will want to party with you due to hs
Fp is the best if you want to race through third job with a party buddy, but that'll drain your potions pretty hard

 

I recommend priest over ice lightning as your solo class. The potion savings is NOT trivial. You will end up having significantly better gear as a priest because you will be able to invest your saved mesos into gear, whereas a ice lightning will have to scrape by with basic things because a large % of your profits will go into potions.
