The combination of MP Washing + Stale HP Washing can be confusing - especially when a character is approaching ~30k MP.

Here's a copy & paste I posted to Discord. It's a repeat of some of the earlier topics covered in this thread, but sometimes reading the same concept multiple times, in multiple ways, can be helpful.

Think of MP Washing and Stale HP Washing as a totally separate processes.

Where most people get confused is trying to wrap their minds around mixing Stale HP Washing between MP Washes. Don't think about it like that. Think about them as two totally different concepts.

    What's the difference?

MP Washing, is done with Fresh AP. That's the AP you get each time you Level Up.

Each level, you do five MP Washes, with that five AP you get.

MP Washing is when you put a Fresh AP to +MP, then use an AP Reset to convert -MP to +INT.

Stale HP Washing is a totally "different process". It's just converting -MP directly into to +HP.

Stale HP Washing is when you AP Reset to convert -MP to +HP

The part that's confusing is you need to leave 1 point in MP in order to "unlock" your ability to Stale HP Wash.

Are you approaching 30k MP? Here's what I recommend - Step by Step:
    1. First, Level Up - You will now have (at least) 5 Fresh AP.
    2. Put 1 AP into MP. Leave it there. Forget about it.
    3. Do 4 MP Washes with your remaining Fresh AP
    4. For all future levels, continue to do your 5 MP Washes each level.
    5. Remember that 1 AP you put into MP. Just forget about it. Leave it there.
    6. Now, watch your MP
    7. As you Level Up, and do more MP Washes, you're going to gain more Base MP
    8. Anytime you're around 29.5k MP, use Stale HP Washing to convert MP to HP until you're back at ~29k Base MP
    9. This allows you to stay under 30k MP, while converting excess MP to HP
