Heroes of Meow pets not following commands?

Heroes of Meow pets (Cat Evan, Cat Phantom, Cat Luminous) will not react to basic low level commands (sit, bad, no, badboy, badgirl, stupid, ihateyou, dummy, iloveyou, poop). They don't even acknowledge that I said something.

Strangely, they understand talk, chat, and say.

Are they not meant to follow normal commands? Anyone else have this problem or know other commands for them? They are super cute and I want to use all three. I love their "Meow Meeoow!" when I feed them and how tiny they are :3
