One of the most common questions I see posted around is how much washing a person needs to do in order to hit a certain goal. The target in mind takes in a lot of variables for how much a person wishes to commit to a character or just playing in general. There's a general idea of the amount a player needs to do, but not many real examples of how to accomplish it or what it would look like.

I hope this guide becomes more like a lot of mini-guides to provide a more full picture and effective ways to achieve your goals, whatever they may be.

If you're fresh to the game some of these concepts take a bit of explaining.

    HP Wash
HP washing is the process of turning extra MP on a character into HP. This is done generally by leveling up, putting one or more of your AP points into HP, then using one or more AP resets from the cash shop to take that point out of MP and put it into the stat you originally planned to invest in.

Level up > Put AP into HP > Go in the cash shop to buy AP Reset > Take point out of MP > Put point back into a normal stat

This lets you earn more HP and it costs you some NX and some of your extra MP. The values for how much MP is taken out and how much HP is gained vary from class to class, another guide has those figures:

    Extra MP
This is the amount of MP you have that is over the minimum that your character can physically have. To figure out how much extra MP you have there is a bot available in the MapleLegend's discord. You can pepelove DraudsDrauds for making such a useful tool. To use the bot, go into the #bot-channel and type $washes <job> <level> <mp>, and the bot will tell you how many washes you are able to do, how much HP you stand to gain, and how much Vote Cash it will cost you. Just make sure you enter the MP that you have with your character naked, wearing something like the Ellin Ring will tell you that you have more washes than you technically do.

Base int and Int from gear
You have a basic understanding of how to HP wash, but you now need to know how to gain the extra MP necessary for HP washing. Your "int" stat on leveling up is what determines how much extra MP you gain every level. When you level up, you gain 1 extra MP for every 10 int you have, rounded down. If you level up with 80 int, you'll gain an extra 8 MP. If you level up with 124 int, you'll gain 12 MP.

Having base int is to invest the AP you get from leveling up into your int stat, even though it doesn't offer you any extra damage or allow you to equip any new gear, it increases your MP and that is what you are after when you want to HP wash.

Getting your int from gear means that right before you level up, you equip a set of gear that has int on it, and that int counts towards you total int as you level up.

Let's say that you have a total of 45 points in your int stat, and you level up while wearing gear that has a total of 35 int on it. In total, you have 80 int and you gain 8 extra MP from that level.

    MP Washing

If you want to get as many washes as possible, MP washing is the most effective way to gain the large amounts of MP needed to do some significant HP washes. It will add a fairly significant amount of AP Resets to accomplish the goals though, so it will take a long time to vote for the account. It's recommended that you vote for several months beforehand before undertaking the process. It's something to think about for your dream character, after you get your first character established and wish to start a different class.

To MP wash, you simply put one or more of your level-up AP into MP, then you use AP Resets to remove those points and put them elsewhere. This requires base int to work though, otherwise you just lose MP overall. Int from gear does not count towards MP washing, it is only your base int that gives the extra MP from MP washing.

You gain [int - 20] / 10 MP per MP wash. So if you have 220 base int, you would gain 20 MP per MP wash. If you have 130 base int, you would gain 11 MP per MP wash.

This is capable of gaining you incredible amounts of MP very very quickly. With 220 base int and 5 MP washes, you stand to gain 122 extra MP upon leveling up. This is enough MP for 10 HP washes on a bowman or a thief. It will compound your costs though if you plan on going down this route.

Akashsky's guide is a great start if you want to figure out how much HP you'll have at a certain level and how much you'd be able to get from gear.

His guide will give you a good idea on how to get the extra gear and what it will mean for your character to have that much HP when it comes to bossing.

The charts Akashsky for HP are also incredibly useful. This is your HP if you chose not to wash:

Now I don't need to calc that portion out myself. Yeehaw. That makes the next section easier.

In the section above you'll see that unwashed as a sin or a bowman you have ~3936 HP at level 160. If you read Akashsky's guide you can see that there's a fair amount of gear you can go for, and if you go for all of it you can gain an extra 2,000 HP or so. Getting all of it is a fairly difficult journey but you can probably get half of that playing casually. This will leave you with about 5k HP at 160 if you work a bit towards that gear or 6k if you go hard after HP gear. In the following sections I'm going to assume you can get some of the gear to tally it towards the total HP you'll have.

All of the following numbers can be fudged a bit. You can start earlier and do less, you can start later and do more. I mostly just want to get the general idea of the effort it will take to do certain amounts of washing and what it will lead you to.

This is a very casual wash that will make you able to boss more comfortably and a bit earlier than you normally would. You can get most of this from items such as the Zhelm, the Silver Deputy Star, some cheap gear you can find in the FM, and maybe a small amount of base int.

Since each HP wash gives thieves and archers an average of 18 HP per wash, this means you'll need an average of 56 HP washes to get that much HP. Each HP wash takes 12 MP, so to do 56 HP washes you'll need 672 extra MP. The HP washes will cost 173,600 NX for AP Resets and resetting your int will cost you between 0 and 167,400 NX depending on how much base int you put in.

If you can get 60 int, from int gear or from base int, by level 40, you will gain an extra 720 MP from then until level 160. This will put you over your goal of 56 washes, in fact you'd have enough for 60 washes, so you can get slightly more than 1,000 extra HP by level 160. With HP gears this will put you at 6k-7k HP.

For this amount you will probably need to make a few small sacrifices with your character, but in the end it will get you close to being able to do content you shouldn't be able to do as a ranged character. You will likely need base int to accomplish this, especially if you are rather new, but the character will still be playable through all portions of the game.

Since each HP wash gives thieves and archers an average of 18 HP per wash, this means you'll need an average of 112 HP washes to get that much HP. Each HP wash takes 12 MP, so to do 112 HP washes you'll need 1364 extra MP. The HP washes will cost 347,200 NX for AP Resets and resetting your int will cost you between 0 and 359,600 NX depending on how much base int you put in.

If you can get 120 int, from int gear or from base int, by level 40, you will gain an extra 1440 MP from then until level 160. This will put you over your goal of 112 washes, in fact you'd have enough for 120 washes, so you can get slightly more than 2,100 extra HP by level 160. With HP gears this will put you at 7.1k-8.1k HP.

This is a number that will take some planning by the player to accomplish. It's a very solid amount of HP to go for, and you'd be able to kill HT without Hyper Body by around level ~175+. With Hyper Body you'll be able to tank multiple of his later hits, giving you a good amount of comfort when bossing.

To get this extra 4,000 HP there are 2 paths a person can take: Vanilla HP washing or some slight MP washing.

If you want to just vanilla HP wash, you will need 223 HP washes. To do that many HP washes you will need an extra 2,676 MP. From level 40-160, you will need around 220-230 int every level to gain this amount of MP. You will likely need between 120-180 base int to accomplish this goal. The cost of 223 HP washes is 691,300 NX, and the cost of resetting 120 to 180 base int is between 360k-540k NX.

If you want to MP wash you will still need 223 HP washes, but how you gain the MP will be different. You still need the 2676 MP. In this example you will have 120 base int, and you will do 2 MP washes per level for 65 levels, or 130 MP washes overall, giving you an extra 1300 MP from MP washing. From leveling with 120 int from level 40-160, you will gain 1440 MP. From your leveling up MP and your MP washing MP, you will gain ~2740 MP, enough to surpass the 4,000 HP goal. For the 223 HP washes, you'll still need 691,300 NX, and you'll also need 403,000 NX for the MP Washes, along with 359,600 NX to get rid of your base int.

Overall, just regular HP washing is cheaper NX-wise but it has a much smaller ceiling for how much HP you can potentially gain. You can choose to MP wash much more, with higher int and leveling with int gear as well, and get to truly insane numbers. But if you just want to reach 9-10k HP without insane amounts of voting, this is likely the best path. You will have a rather easy time bossing and you will be ready for just about any content in the game.

So you wanna be a nerd. You wanna be smug in your guild discord by posting just random screenshots with you HP showing or stats window open. Well this is the section for you, sperglords. Well to accomplish a significant amount of extra HP you're going to want to MP Wash. And lot's of voting.

Let's just get your character ready with 220 base int. If you do 3 MP washes per level for 50 levels it will give you an extra 3,000 MP. Leveling up 50 times with 220 base int will give you another 1,100 MP. Overall it will give you 4,100 extra MP. That's enough MP to do 341 HP washes, leaving you with that extra 6,000 HP you wanted, with plenty of leftover washes. Overall this will give you over 10k HP clean, and up to 12k with the best HP gear out there.

You'll be spending a lot on AP Resets though.
HP Washing - 341 AP Resets: 1.05mil NX
MP Washing - 150 AP Resets: 465k NX
Resetting 220 base int - 216 AP Resets: 670k NX

Overall getting to 10k will cost you just over 2.1mil NX. That's almost a year's worth if you can keep the streak going. You can probably get by with fewer MP washes, especially if you use int gear, but I think we both know you aren't interested in anything less than perfection if you've read to this point.

Now let's do 220 base int with 5 MP washes over the course of 80 levels. From MP washing this will give you 8,000 extra MP. From leveling up with all of that int you will get an extra ~1600 MP. From that you can get just about 14,400 extra HP, or enough to get close to 30k after HB.

The costs are pretty nuts though:
HP Washing - 800 AP Resets: 2.48mil NX
MP Washing - 400 AP Resets: 1.24mil NX
Resetting 220 base int - 216 AP Resets: 670k NX
Overall about 4.3mil NX, or almost 2 years of voting if you keep your streak up.

Would the game even be fun at that point? I guess that's for you to decide, but it would really just make every hit you take trivial. There's no real reason to go that high if you're a casual player, honestly the highest you should realistically aim for is 10k HP clean, before HP equips and all that. Any more and you're really just ruining the game for everyone else.

If your HP goal is somewhere between there, then you can probably just fudge the numbers a bit. I just wanted to let people have a general idea of what HP washing looks like, because it still seems like a commonly asked question and there isn't really a roadmap available.

I'm gonna do the other classes later, just thieves and archers for now because they're the most common. But so far this has taken a few writing sessions and I just want it out there already.

One small nitpick I want to add from my experience washing a corsair. Fresh level up AP will net you 16-20 hp (just like an archer or thief), but putting a stale AP, that is using an AP Reset will always give you 18.

So for corsairs, there is no advantage to using fresh level up HP. Do note that corsairs still lose 16 MP per wash, which makes them one of the more difficult classes to HP wash.

Another thing is I kinda fail to see how someone hp washing to a high amount (more than 10k base) ruins the game for others. It just gives you a 1 year advantage over them in terms of bossing cause it will take at least that long before their char is even playable!

Overall, great high quality guide. Exactly what I would expect from Alyosha.
