Entry #168 - Check-In #16

It's been three years since we joined the server, and two since the start of this journal, and we just checked off the last long-term goal that was being tracking in this journal... with that, we've closed out every story arc that we'd set out to accomplish:

So, what's next? Well, based on our original goals... we're done.... But, there's no such thing as done...

With this journal, I wanted to tell a story that felt approachable. I wanted to share our learnings, and encourage others to discover the same depth in this game that I have enjoyed. As such, I believe that I have intentionally underplayed some of the sweatier parts of this adventure.

What do I mean? I've put a good few thousand hours into this game. I'm sitting on somewhere in the ballpark of 10 to 12 thousand prestigious coins worth of equip(s) across the characters. I've logged thousands of hours of multi-maging and selling leech. But most importantly, built up the infrastructure that's been allowing us to produce upwards of 50m+ in net profit per hour. Our original go-to strategy was skele + porky/cornian leech. Then in mid-2025, we upgraded to running 3x channels of multi-mage. While more recently having switched back to a dual-channel leech setup, running 5-6F and ulu2 leech in parallel... with a bonus map or two on the side depending on the day. After a fairly standard day of work, it's not uncommon for me to boot up the game after dinner, wrangle up a few leech buyers, and grind out 100c+ of net profit before going to bed.

What are our long-term goals?

We're not going to list out our next goals, not quite yet. There's a few misc. odds and ends I want to wrap up before opening up the next chapter.

In the meantime, we've got a nice stack of coins, and 30 million NX spread across a few accounts just waiting in anticipation for the next chapter.

Entry #169 - 191/200

We've pulled in around 2b mesos in the past few weeks - mainly from selling leech, and the dropped equip(s). We'll see what the Christmas event contains, but even if the only bonus is the event exp bonus, it will be a good time. We're really pushing to get our Bishop to Level 200. So much so that we've been running our Bishop as the bottom-left mage at 5-6F. That setup puts around 180-280m of exp per night onto that character, leaving us with around ~275 hours of 5-6F remaining before the Bishop hits level 200.

 

Entry #170 - 14 Cape

As the Halloween event wrapped up, we were on the market for our next upgrade. The original plan was a simple upgrade to a 12 attack cape. However, Regrets peer-pressured us to aim higher when there weren't any well-priced 12's on the market. So, tada! This brings the value of equips on this character to an estimated total of ~8.5k coins.

 

Entry #171 - Farming

The leech business has been good to us. Very good to us. It almost feels silly to run content during events, as the profit margin on running multi-channel leech is too good... especially with all the event farmers looking to convert their event coins into experience. All-in, taking a running average over our past 200 hours, after accounting for pot costs, we're clearing 50m/hr. in net profit. And that's not even including any of the event raffles or the experience that we're putting into our mages and attackers.

At this pace, we're grinding ~1,200-1,500 coins per month. "After a fairly standard day of work, it's not uncommon for me to boot up the game after dinner, wrangle up a few leech buyers, and grind out 100c+ of net profit before going to bed." Our average session is around 3-5 hours.

Entry #172 - Xmas

The Winter Holiday Event has been pretty chill this year. We've mostly skipped out on SPQ, in favor of making the most out of the event's experience bonus. There's been an influx of buyers for high level leech, so we've been taking advantage of that.

We did The Festival of Lights quest on each character for the 16 Gelts (or Banana Graham Pie). The trick is to have the same stage of the quest active on each character, and sweep the drops all at once. For example: We collected 200 Alter Pieces on each of our characters, then turned in the first round of the quest once, and then collected 72 Candles on each character... from there, you've got all the etc's, and can turn in the quest eight times in a row.

There's also the Santa's Helper Quest, which we did on eight characters, all at once. It's a bit of a hassle, but once the list of NPCs is out for each week (Thanks LilB00), it makes more sense to just get 'em all done at once.

The EV of the raffle was low, but since we didn't go out of our way to farm the raffles, it was just an added bonus on top of our usual farming! And with that, we wrap up our participation in the Winter Holiday Event.

 

More mages! The answer is always more bishops If you have enough, you can cover enough of the map that you don't have to move. So in this specific case, it's two mages at ulu2, and two mages at 5-6F.

 

Entry #173 - Desert

Minor updates! At the end of last month, a buddy and I did some hiking/backpacking out into the desert for a few days. It was nice to get entirely offline for a bit. Followed by a few weeks of travel for work, meaning not much to report on in the mushroom game of recently. We've been continuing to run weekly 18-man Pink Bean, with mixing in some NT content and a few sessions of leech here and there.

Thanks to Preistest's daily runs, we've also been running more Horntail than usual... bringing the duo-attacker combo of Bishop & Night Lord (plus BM for heads), so that's been fun.

Next up, we still have some "cleanup" we want to do. Most notably getting the BM's gear upgraded across the board, and investing a few more coins into our IL... considering we've been getting more and more use (5-6F, NT) out of the IL of recently.

What are our 2026 real-life goals?

Entry #174 - Elquines

There's a few different JC setups we've been playing around with. Our limitation at the moment, is a lack of cleave, so we need to get a little creative in how to deal with the summons.

The Moo will say just just Shadow Web every 10 seconds, Avenger, and use Venom/Taunt for the mobs. It works! We also tried using the I/L's Chain Lightning for semi-cleave, mixed with Blizzard for freeze. That worked too, but it's a bit more of a hassle (even if you can get a pretty good timer running the trio-attacker setup).

The strategy that we've found to be the most graceful, is volunteering the F/P as a "punching bag". Elquines will freeze the mobs, and as long as you don't mess up the auto-pot settings, you can park that character on the right. It'll get bounced around... while the summon keeps the mobs frozen.

Yes, you get a better timer when playing the AM's as active attackers, but there's something nice about the simplicity. This means, I can just chill, fire away on the NL and BM, and the only interaction needed is repositioning when our duo-atackers get knocked around from fireball.

 

Entry #175 - Lunar New Year

It's event time! Lunar New Year is one of my favorite events. Not because there are JQ's (never been my thing), but because a.) the aesthetic is so charming, and b.) I sure do love some "Kill 888" Raffles! It means we can go about our usual farming & selling leech, with the added bonus of adding in some extra event EV. There's also a certain fun technical challenge of maintaining the rotation of coordinating each mage's return to town to cash-in, without dropping too much of our buyer's @epm. I don't yet have a good sense of how this year's raffle EV compares to last years (one, two), but better or worse, we'd be happy either way.

So what's the plan for this event? We're sitting meso-heavy at the moment, thanks to 5-6F, so I'm hoping to convert a decent amount of mesos into coins during this event. Beyond that, the plan is selling leech, and collecting raffles... so basically the usual!

 

Yes sir! At least, whichever ones that I reasonably can. The actual strategy changes somewhat day-to-day, as I'll adjust for where there appears to be the most leech buyer demand on any given evening. So, for example: If I'm selling 5-6F, I'll be somewhat more casual about Kill 888 turn-ins, considering the hassle to get to town and back. But if I can't coordinate that second channel of buyers within a reasonable time, then I'll fall back to farming something like Squids, where you know I'll optimize for raffles/hr.!
