I think HD 720p client would be great for MapleLegends. Not only does it look great, it just adds another feature to the server that helps attract more players. It seems HD clients are becoming more common recently, and for good reason.

I'm not gonna lie - after playing on a larger resolution and going back to 800x600, the difference is huge. I personally find HD clients make the game much more visually appealing and modern looking. Keeping 800x600 support (aka having HD/widescreen be optional) is pretty necessary for people who want the "true" hardcore nostalgic experience. However, for long time MapleStory players like myself, getting to play old MapleStory in 720p is amazing.

The only real downside I see to implementing this would be the effort it takes for the dev(s). Not only in creating a modified client, but fixing the UI and map backgrounds to fit the new resolution are also important parts of the creating a good HD client, so I'd imagine it'd take quite a while if the devs were to take this on. Regardless, I'd love to see this suggestion get accepted and I'm sure many others would too.

Let me make you an analogy. Let's say Sam buys a brand new car from a car dealership. While Sam is out of town his car gets stolen by Rick. Rick fences his car off to Moe, who then sells it to a chop shop. Bob buys up a good portion of those car parts and builds his own car. Then Thomas "takes" the car Bob spent hours and hours building. Is it unfair to say Thomas stole that car, which was arguably already stolen in a sense?

Or heck, I know. Let's just obfuscate the whole matter and make morality either subjective or irrelevant! Because cars want to be on the road!

I see compelling arguments on both sides. I personally think it comes down to beliefs, values, and morality at the end of the day. Since the topic is subjective, discussion will go on forever, much like political conversation. So I urge both parties to see the point in the other party's arguments and to stay open minded.

Frankly, it isn't only about code. It's also an interpersonal conflict between the people involved. Thus, I also think healthier to leave it to those people than us trying to become judges based on limited and vague background.

While I'm not locking the thread, please stay on topic as well as constructive. Be diligent against calling names or being sarcastic.

no shit, eh? when was the last time you had an argument that involved believing things

if by "subjective" you mean that it's difficult and thus simply easier turn off your brain and dismiss it as "subjective", then yes

it's easy to be a judge when you have methods that work universally

right, i forgot about the ban on sarcasm. i'll get right on deleting all my posts on this forum
