Information May 2025 Balance Changes [Explained]

How about hold a test period so when people see how awful these changes are you won't have to apologize and roll them back?

 

Kind of blows my mind how this was overlooked to be honest. It's very rough when you take the one thing a class has going for them and literally give them nothing significant in return. Hopefully the balance team will cook and find a way to make justice. I never really thought shadowers getting worse was possible but here we are...

 

As a shadower main I am excited for these new changes!

 

I've only been here a few weeks but I wanted to give some feedback after I experienced very similar changes on another server I played on and the pretty much universal agreement from the community how much the changes were disliked.

Trying to balance thieves by messing with one of the core benefits of the class is not something that is gonna go over well with most of the people who play them. Nobody wants to feel like their classes were nerfed. But an equal amount of people dont want to feel like a class they chose to play for nostalgia purposes is now suddenly less familiar to them on a old school Maple server. Nerfing and changing part of the identity of a class just isn't gonna be popular with people

 

Thank you BT for the boldness of this patch, sometimes the hardest of decisions require the strongest of wills

Finally touching the untouchables has brought back uncertainty to the late game, an aspect that's felt missing for a long stretch now

 

How many paladins are on balance team again?

 

These players who say "we want old school maple", have you even made a NL past lvl 120 and had shadow shifter?
Also note that the NLs back then had to essentially rely on their avoid mechanic/HB due to no HP washing/HP Challenge.

 

I don't understand why they buffed bucc and nerf nl/shad when the cost per minute looks like this:




and that's using hwabis/soul arrow which is much cheaper than mtk/diamond arrows

 

Does this mean Holy Charge damage has also been reduced at max level?

 

now shadower exists to go up to the right side of the horntail with Assaulter.
after going up, it falls again, it goes up again, it falls again, ....

 

As a Bishop main, I am glad I have stuck by the role of an S-Tier support role.

 

I like the willingness to try out bold changes! BT needs to feel empowered to push the needle, even if things end up getting blasted back.

It's not about crying "More, More, MORE!", but rather DKs were already promised a large rework to berserk following the recent updates because at its core the class is very poorly designed, and the DKs are now expecting/anticipating that update. The fact that it has literally 0 new attacking skills in 4th job makes it revolve around a skill puts you in 1 shot range of endgame bosses or forced to deal 3rd job damage (or jump through hoops like active zerk) ultimately makes you a liability. Obviously, the recent changes have somewhat alleviated this issue, but it still means that unless your party needed HB, there's not much reason they'd take a DK over almost any other attacker for most endgame content.

I'm just merely being hopeful that Dragon Blood, an iconic ability that has been left underwhelming could get an update that would give it purpose as a part of the changes that we have already been promised.

 

Time and time you guys keep saying this but don't revert the changes when it became widely apparently unpopular. Some things don't need testing to see that it is good or bad.

 

When half the paladins don't even realize they they've been gigabuffed, I do think we need player testing.

 

This honestly goes back to picking and choosing what type of nostalgia is kept in the game. I hear you, and I understand what you're stating.

What I'm trying to say is that the balance has been actively working on drks for the longest and tid bits have been put out multiple times. A whole class rework is a lot of effort and time that these people are putting in on a VOLUNTEER basis. With that being said, the drk players just keep saying "drk buffs when, drk changes when"

It's never truly enough to satiate the masses.

Then we have other classes catching strays.

• When are we gonna hit the octa mage farmers taking up 3-4 maps ?
• How can a player monopolize 4 channels to themselves at a time?

But I digress.
