NPC to convert standard equips into cosmetics

This would be amazing but I think it would require a TON of dull work. Wouldn't you have to create a cash equivalent for every single armor piece in the game? So worth it, though...

Just like the examples above (Hey, even I'm in there! ), this suggestion has already been beaten to death. Not that it's a bad suggestion, but it's a suggestion that's low on the priority list as there's bigger fish to fry first.
This doesn't mean I don't want this either, but in the far distant future we could see it one day... hopefully.

 

This should be priority number 2 right after islander storage tbh.

As an Islander, I wouldn't mind the shadow star bug fix to take priority numero uno.

I think this would mean we would have to make cash versions of literally every single equip to put it in our files and that might be a very long and arduous task. I do think the idea is cool, I'm just not sure if it's technically possible ;-;

 

Would it be possible to only do the popular/requested equips?
It would still likely be a lot of stuff but if there was like a thread or something where we can request items to be added to OPs npc, and items that haven’t/won’t be added just say like “currently unavailable”
If this was possible it’d probs reduce the work to like <10% of doing every gear in the game

 

Yeah this is a good approach. You could start with a few of the most popular ones (the cool thief hats come to mind), then slowly build on them between patches.

 

Mapledestiny had it as an NPC where you would give them your equip and it would lose it's stats and become an NX cover. No idea how they did it though.

I'm not super clear on exactly how the wz files are formatted, but I'd expect it should be possible to automate this. The general process would just be to copy and paste the animation frames from an existing item into a "blank template" cosmetic item that goes into the same equip slot. A script should be able to do this.

It wouldn't be zero work, though; the script would take time to develop and test, so it is still a question of where the priorities for the devs actually lie and I would agree that fixing existing bugs should definitely take priority.

 

Just thinking out loud rn, but maybe its like crafting weapons.
