Hello guys, been tinkering to get maplelegends to run for awhile, and finally got it working on my Ubuntu Budgie 20.04.
I can only run it using virtual desktop, so no fullscreen i guess, for now.

I've used the installer script here for MapleLegends. Big thanks to whoever wrote it :DD
    https://lutris.net/games/maplestory/

Once MapleLegends is installed, as said by HYPATIA in the previous post, you have to replace afew files from MAC's specific installation.

    The files I've replaced are:
    - ilj15.dll
    - MapleLegends.exe
    - PCOM.dll
    - Sound_DX8.dll

    Here's the file for 26 May's installation: https://mega.nz/file/DckmkAIR#3ywRnLoO81Cav52zGmdQNdsKVLN0ER3A0AsvcbOf71E

I'm still new to linux and CLI in general so, i got through using the gnome archive manager's GUI.
    Here's how I've done it.
    1. Open up the pkg file, extract the payload somewhere.
    2. In that payload file, there's another payload file inside. Extract that out too.
    3. Rename the second payload file into something with a .xar extention.
    4. Extract everything out in the second payload file, and find the 4 files that you need to replace.

Hope this will be helpful to you :DD

I use ubuntu 20.04, and I can play fullscreen, even 2 clients, but this is a minilaptop, I need 8 gigas of ram for that, I have 4, but it runs anyways, it is easier than this guide says

    Update for 30 Aug installation.
I'm using Linux Mint 20 and Lutris.

Not using the installation script from lutris this time so, you should still be able to get it up without lutris.

While setting up the wine-environment, you may want to download the MAC version of MapleLegends (windows version doesn't work)

    Setting up Wine-Environment using lutris.
    1. Go top-right using the [+] button, and "Add Game"
    2. At "Game Info", on the Runner Option, select "Wine"
2.1 Go-to "Game options", set "Prefix Architecture" to 32-bit.
2.2 Go-to "Runner Info", disable "DXVK/VKD3D" and enable "Virtual Desktop" (you can only launch in virtual desktop mode).
2.3 Go-to "System Info", enable "Disable Lutris Library". Press OK.
[EDIT: I do not remember the exact menu for this, but you should include a directory BEFORE going to step 3 (for eg, ~/Games/MapleLegends) for the wine prefix, so it does not use the default wine prefix path]
    3. Go into wine configuration -> Set "Windows Version" to Windows 98.
    4. Go into winetricks -> Install an application -> click cancel -> Install a Windows DLL or component -> check vcrun6sp6 -> click OK and let it install.
    5. Download ws2_32.dll and ws2help.dll, replace it accordingly (use "Game Info" to check the directory of your wine folder)

At this stage, you are done. Now just gotta extract out MapleLegends from the MAC installation.
Using Linux Mint 20 to do this:
    1. Open up the .pkg file and extract Payload.
    2. Rename Payload, and add a .xar extention, or the archive manager will not correctly unpack it.
    3. Using archive manager, extract everything out, if not you won't be able to find the drive_c inside.
    4. Go into MapleLegends.app -> drive_c, copy/cut the MapleLegends folder, and paste it to anywhere you wish.
    5. Go back to lutris settings -> "Game Info" -> point executable to MapleLegends.exe.

And thats it, you should be able to run MapleLegends now :DD

I get to the stage where it says to open up the Wine Configuration but when I click on it in Lutris nothing opens up.
Am I doing something wrong here?

I'm not sure about Lutris issues but just a heads up, you do not need Lutris at all if the version of WINE shipped by your OS is up to date.

I tried following the directions posted here but I wasn't able to get it to work. Will probably give up and just continue OS swapping over to windows just for this.

what os are you using? with the new version, steps remain the same, but new packages are needed.
the way i use, it is easier, lutris and other things are not needed, at least in my case

    i will help you

Lutris needs a version of working wine on your system.
As others have said, you don't need lutris, but i personally find it an easy way to manage my programs running on wine.

I'm using WINE 5.18 but that should work as well. Have you tried making your own 32-bit WINE prefix without Lutris?

Keep in mind that nowadays you cannot use the Windows installer of MapleLegends. You need to unpack the MacOS version.

Just a quick confirmation: the dll's that are in the mediafire link, are they still the correct ones?
