The EASIEST way to run MapleLegends on Linux - Unofficial Linux Client

I dont think i care about virtual desktop per se, i just want to limit the game crashes from alt tab, it happens rarely but it does happen

After seeing cl_ogar0 updated their files fairly easy from Syzyg instructions, I decided to give it a try myself and it was fairly easy. I'll re-write the instructions so they're easy to follow since his are a bit messy at points.

Updating Your Files Instructions

1. Download the Wineskin version from the New Full Version thread, usually titled as the following...
   Code:

   MapleLegends-MACDDMMYYYY.pkg

2. Navigate to your Downloads directory by using the terminal, and extract using 7zip file you downloaded as follows
   Code:

   7z x MapleLegends-MACDDMMYYYY.pkg -oMapleLegends

   Note: No space after the '-o' flag; this will create a directory in the Downloads folder called <output-directory-name> containing the contents of extraction.
3. Inside MapleLegends/MapleLegends.pkg/ (which now becomes a directoy) you'll find a file called "Payload". Re-name that file to Payload.xar.
4. To extract the Payload.xar file, ensure package "cpio" is installed and run following command inside the folder

   cat Payload | gunzip -dc |cpio -i

5. This will create a new directory called MapleLegends.app. Navigate to MapleLegends.app/drive_c/ to find the directory simply titled MapleLegends. This is what you're looking for.
6. If you already have the files downloaded from a previous patch, delete all the old files (except for Legends.ini, you can make sure nothing changed in this use a code diff checker) and replace them from the files that are in the MapleLegends folder.
7. Run the client as you usually would and it should work. If not, make a post about it and someone will do their best to assist!

Struggling to get this update working on steamdeck. Never had a problem previously. Anyone got it working?

 

My sister's old 2013 Macbook running Linux Mint 22.2 was having trouble running the Jan 12, 2026 release. She was getting some Dxvk error. Through some roundabout way I determined it was an issue with the release moving to 64-bit, so I ended up packaging up a 32-bit version that seemed to work for her. Posting it here in case it helps anyone else!

Im not sure what changed with the client since update but i havent crashed yet playing for multiple hours. So good news i guess?
the only thing ive done is replaced the files with game folder

 

Its running fine in desktop mode when doing windowed mode of the sh. When going into game mode, it doesn't launch. Deleted prefix folder, readded as non steam game, etc. Just doesn't open

 

I am. I've been playing fine on previous clients, this new one just... isnt working in game mode

fullscreen / window toggle, it caused issues for me.
Also try wtih "1" resolution not 2

 

Do you have to 0lay with a specific compatibility mode in steam? Proton experimental for example? can you also share what your wine.cfg settings are, and what ini setting you use?

 

im sorry but i dont play through steam, just launching from desktop.
The only relevant option i do have is "virtual desktop emulation" toggled on in winecfg with my screen resolution as value in there
