The journey of Rinnosuke

Hello, everyone.
As the journal section arrived, I decided to start one also.

A little background
I played Hero as my first character when I started playing MapleLegends in 2018, just like what Cak33 is illustrating. I managed to wash to 30k HP by pumping 70 base INT, plus some INT gears I bought along the way. Sadly maple journey was not in my mind back then.

After that, I made a Bishop and a Night Lord. At first I only wanted a HS mule, then a MU mule. You can guess what happened.

I took a break from Maple from mid 2019 to early 2021, and now I'm back. End game Hero and NL are, well, strong but boring. So I decide to try something new.

Spoiler: Level history of Kirisame

Meet Rinnosuke
So here he is, Kirisame's good friend - Rinnosuke.
Both IGNs are from the Touhou Project, if you're interested.

The dice result was 4/6/10/5, it will be explained later.
(If you're going to HP wash a non-mage and non-warrior class, it's ideal to roll for 5+ DEX and 10+ INT here.)

Spoiler: Why in the same account?

Unlike some other journals, I will use the NX I already had.

I know it will be better to create characters in different accounts in the long run.
But I'm impatient to wait for the NX equivalent to 500 days of voting.

The goals
Rinnosuke will become a shadower. Because I had experience playing other classes on different servers, but I never played shadower before. Another reason is I can utilize my NL equipments on my shadower, to save some mesos.

My first goal is wash to 30k HP + 10k MP potential. I have enough NX to buy 1000 AP resets, which means I can wash every fresh AP if I want. I have nowhere to spend those NX on anyways.

My second goal is to get T10 ring at least. Because +10 on every stats is extremely good for shadowers, let along the extra HP and MP. Unlike what Soblet did, I will get it while progressing.

Besides, I wish it could possibly help new players get understanding of how HP washing works, and how to efficiently wash your character.

And most importantly, having fun while doing this.

The rules
I won't say this is a challenge. So I will not add any additional rules besides the rules of MapleLegends.
I can utilize everything I have, accept help from others, buy leech, self leech, etc.

However, I will NOT just leeching from level 10 - 140, I promise.

The pace
Despite not capping by the NX, I will update this in a relatively slow pace.
I have other characters to play, and I might be busy in real life soon.

I'll go for 30k HP clean potential. It will take years to actually wash to 30k.
It's probably better to off meso guard to save mesos in weaker bosses like zakum if have high hp.
10k MP is another pot saving meme. I will see how the washing goes and decide later.

UPDATE #1

Level 1 ~ 9 - Getting out of Maple Island
So here we begin. Like every maplers, the journey starts from the Maple Island.

The goal here is simple: finish every quest in the Maple Island (#1) and head out to Victoria Island ASAP (#2).
Goal #1 is for my collecting habit, although I do not intend to finish every quest available in ML.
Goal #2 is to get access to the INT gear and MW20 buff as early as possible.

I created a second character to help killing mobs in Maple Island, hoping Rinnosuke can get less exp from mobbing (for the goal #2).
It turns out not necessary to do so.

Pumping all AP to INT until level 6, to get as much extra MP by leveling as possible.
Make sure having 10 DEX at level 7, in order to get 25 DEX for job advancement at level 10.

And here's detailed stats at each level.
You can see why the 5+ DEX and 10+ INT dice result is ideal.

Level 1: 6 DEX, 10 INT
Level 2: 6 DEX, 15 INT
Level 3: 6 DEX, 20 INT
Level 4: 6 DEX, 25 INT
Level 5: 6 DEX, 30 INT
Level 6: 6 DEX, 35 INT

Level 8: 15 DEX, 36 INT

The result
Both character reached level 9 when they arrived Victoria Island.
The other character (4 base INT) is at 67% exp and 95 MP just FYI.


A thought came to me afterwards:
Maybe I can save some AP for fresh washing at level 10 (after job adv)?
But I guess there won't be enough MP for 5 times washing from level 10 to 11 anyways.

Also, there is a question:
I had never washed a character as early as first job.
But according to Nise's HP washing formula, there is no difference except for the minimum HP/MP right?

 

UPDATE #2

level 9 ~ 20 - Questing in Victoria

Finishing Biggs's Story on Victoria Island brings me to level 10 easily, like as designed.
And I cleared 3 quests from Olaf: A Lesson On Job Advancement, The Path of Thief, and MapleStory Basic Knowledge.
These quests won't make you over-leveling, and the first 2 are only available before 1st job adv.
The 3rd one requires some ETCs which I happens to have, so I finished it now.

Then I became a Rouge (forgot to save the screenshot though).

After that, I decide to follow this guide. I'm interested to see how it goes also.

FYI, I used other character to help killing mobs, so the EXP from mobs are lesser than killing them by yourself.

The first thing we notice after the job advancement is the trainings from the 1st job instructor.
For thieves, the first 3 trainning is killing stumps. We can do it together with The Stump Horror Story.
After finishing these quests, I hit level 13.

It was until level 12 I had enough MP to do the very first wash.

More fresh HP wash (+16~20) done means less stale wash (+16) needed.
And MP wash is just not efficient enough at this stage.

The last trainning brings me to 67% EXP at level 13.
Then the Beauty or Beast quest did the rest job to level 14 for me, perfect.

The EXP from Entering the Floating Market Protection Squad is insane, giving a free level at this point.

Afterwards I headed over to Nautilus, for more quests.
Help Me Find My Glasses brings me to level 16(36%) straight.
Whalians and The Nautilus is easy EXP also, though not much in comparison.
There are 3 more quests you can do together: Cleaning the Nautilus 1, Protect The Nautilus' Emergency Food Supply and A Mysterious Presence On-Board The Nautilus.
You need to do this quest to initiate the last one: A Mysterious Entity On-Board The Nautilus.
And it involves killing mobs alone. So it's time to prepare for it.

Welp, even worser than slapping 7 100% scrolls.

Lucky Seven is OP even at 8 SP. (Should have maxed Lucky Seven first)
Ciders is OP at this level, too. (20 att from cider > 16 att from weapon)
I think i will rely on Lucky Seven for my 3rd job advancement. (Sindit FTW)

Then Welcome to New Leaf City Quiz gave me another free level.



I believe if you were killing the mobs by yourself, you should be level 20 already.
Clearly I need 43% more to get that.

Instead of any grinding or leeching, I did some Oribis exchange quest.
I can semi-AFK for waiting the ship, so it's worth the time.

level 20 ~ 27 - More Questing in Victoria

Keep following the guide mentioned above, here's a brief log of how it goes.

The numbers in parentheses are the level and exp.

• Legend of the snail (20.05 -> 21.16)
• Find Fresh Milk (21.15 -> 21.61)
• Planting Trees (21.61 -> 22.19)
• killed 99 green mushrooms and 99 zombie mushrooms (22.19 -> 22.71)
• DANGER! <2-H. Mushroom> and DANGER! <3-Z. Mushroom> (22.71 -> 23.63)
• Camila's Gem (23.63 -> 24.10)

Because I didn't grind for the plating trees quest, I'm shorting 90% exp to level 25.
I found 2 additional quests to do.

• A Way to Fight Off Sleep (24.10 -> 24.22), easy quest.
  
• Shumi's Lost Coin (24.22 -> 24.66), jump quest.

Then I exchanged 1000 more tooth in orbis (just being lazy here).
Followed with a final quest to get to 25.

• Orbis Exchange Quest x10 (24.66 -> 24.89)
• Manji and the Secret Group (24.89 -> 25.04)

At level 25, we unlocked a few more good quests in Victoria.
You can finish these 3 quests at the same time.

• POLLUTED! <1-Evil Eye> (25.04 -> 25.44), didn't kill mobs by self this time.
  
• Strange Dish 1 (25.44 -> 25.95)
• Lazy Little Calico (25.95 -> 26.28)

The following 2 quests require a little help from other character, to finish it now.

• Cleaning the Nautilus 2 (26.28 -> 26.66)
  
• Cleaning the Nautilus 3 (26.66 -> 27.04)

Finally, there is one more quest to do before leaving Victoria.

• Shawn the Excavator's Request (27.04 -> 27.21)

level 27 ~ 30 - Questing in the Desert

Through Manji (To the Desert...), I went to Ariant.

I didn't keep a log like previous. Because every quest here is good to do.
You can simply follow the available tab in your quests.

level 30 - The 2nd Job Advancement

When I hit level 30, I went back to Victoria through the magic carpet, for my 2nd job advancement.



Although it looks fine in the screenshot, it's truely a test.
After bless is gone (around 20/30 marble collected), accuracy became a problem (funny to see for a thief).
I managed to pass it by bringing accuracy pots (+10 accury pills should be enough).

Being a bit sleepy, I messed up a bit with HP washing (accidentally did 1 MP wash instead of HP wash).
Lucky enough, I didn't choose the wrong path.



I'm officially a bandit.

level 30 ~ 31 - Another Easy Level

When I walked out the bar, the first thing I noticed is Shumi had lost her money again.
So I decided to help her a second time (I think it's easier than the first one).



In reward, she gave me some experience (30.88 -> 31.13), and a fame

Progress so far

AP reset used: 30
HP wash (fresh): 29
HP wash (stale): 0
MP wash: 1 (was an accident)

(There is 20 MP from equips)

Next thing to do

1. Keep questing until 45-ish
2. Start collecting cards
3. Calculate about HP washing

 

I wasted some NX on the accidental MP wash.
But I feel like to waste more.

UPDATE #4

level 31 ~ 35 - The World Travel

Basically, I was following that guide, but there are 2 more quests I want to add.

1. Mr. Wetbottom's Secret Book: good EXP if you can collect ETCs using other character.
2. Delivering Food to Spiruna: easy EXP

I left Ariant before I was level 32, which means I haven't finished For the Little Prince.
So my first round goes like this. The places in italic is where quests are involved.

Victoria (Nautilus) -> Omega Sector -> Ludibrium -> Oribis -> Ariant -> Victoria

Finish every quest available in Ariant, until there is only Recovering the Book: The Little Prince left.
Then I went for a second round.

Victoria -> Omega Sector -> Ludibrium -> Korean Folk Town-> Aqua Road -> Herb Town -> Mu Lung -> Oribis -> Ariant -> Victoria

When I reached Victoria this time, I was at level 34 still.
However, the EXP from A Banquet for the Whalians and Sea Firefly are out of my expectation.
But I still need to hand in the book from the little prince to get level 35 because I didn't mob by myself.

level 35 ~ 41 - The World Travel Ft.2

Victoria -> Omega Sector -> Ludibrium -> Korean Folk Town-> Aqua Road -> Herb Town -> Mu Lung -> Oribis -> Ariant -> Victoria -> NLC

At level 35, I did the Stumpy questline - The Old Tree. Not surprisingly, he hits me harder than I do.
But still, I was the one who stand to the last.

Then Strange Dish 2 brought me to level 36.

After that, Chief Stan's Letter sent me to the Omega Sector. By finishing following quests, I was level 37.

1. Dr. Kim's Comments
2. Supplying the Robotic Parts + Retrieving the Robotic Parts
3. Blocktopus is an Alien?
4. The Ore of Dark Crystal + Where's the Power of Origin? + Terminating the Dark Force

Level 37 means the KFT quests. By doing all of them available, along with the corresponding Library quests, I was level 39.

Now, time to do some bounty hunt.
I went back to the desert again to do the Deo questline - The Bounty Hunt, it was A LOT EXP.
Helping Out Bedin and Russellon's Items for Experiment did the rest job to bring me to level 40.
Then I heard in NLC, there was another bounty hunt - Fool's Gold.
It is a repeatable quest, so I did it twice - the repeat one only gives half EXP, but still good.
By finishing The Fallen Woods afterwards, I was level 41.

Progress so far

AP reset used: 55
HP wash (fresh): 54
HP wash (stale): 0
MP wash: 1 (was an accident)




Things to do next

1. Look for more good quests to do, hopefully questing until level 45 to start EPQ.
2. Try to be qualified for non-afk zak helm without HB, seems good so far.
3. Calculate about HP washing, how much base INT needed and when to start MP washing.

 

UPDATE #5

IRL
After a looooooooooong break, finally I'm back to MapleLegends.
I stopped voting during this break, but it's OK.
During this break, I finished an internship, graduated, and started to work.
And many achievements in real life ...
The bad news is, I won't have as much of free time as before.

The return
I was officially back in 2023-12-31, because my old friends invited me to join a new year's eve HT run.
Many new players have joined our guild "Heaven", and some of them are surprisingly strong.

Because it's a 19 men HT meant for fun, we decided to roll for the drops.
I was so lucky to win a mw20 book for my bishop, and it passed 1/1.

level 41 ~ 43 - The maplemas event, and some leech
The maplemas event has just started, and the rewards are very appealing.
With some patience, I've got 2 items to help hp washing (both with limited time).

On the trip back to victoria, I finished Queen's New Make-Up Kit.

2 years ago, I was planning to level by LPQ and EPQ in this stage.
It's doable with some okayish LUK gears, and this was how I leveled my NL before.
(Lucky seven does not require claw mastery, altough there is no critcal hit for a sindit)
But this time is a little bit different.

I am creating a SE mule in the mean time (which is a late decision).
When I was grinding my Hunter to level 53 in Monkey Forest II, Rinnosuke got a free level.


Then my guildie happens to be selling Jr. Wraiths leech.
So I bought a little bit leech from him, from level 42 (66%) to level 43.

In general, low level leeching is not very efficient.
But when there are 3 partners ready, things starts to become different.
I'm feeling there will be more leeching on the way.

Progress so far
I'm running out extra MP, so I did a few MP wash just to maximize fresh HP wash.

Level up to 50 and get a zak helm.
