    Hello,

This notice is made to clear up a few things with feedback I have received since the introduction of a second game we'll be hosting: GunBound.

While we got a lot of exciting feedback, we got some users concerned mostly because 'I am working on something else right now'

First of all let me make it clear that owners of servers take a break once in while. While normally its not visible, owners including myself take a break once in while. Usually we'll be playing something else, and so on. No, we do not work on a server in and out for 4 years or whatever long a server is being ran. That's insane. Its very similar as you as a player not playing 4 years straight in a row without breaks. I highly doubt we got a single user out there that took zero breaks. Taking breaks are unfortunately necessary, even if you host the game. If you take no breaks, you'll eventually burn yourself out. Burn yourself out and its much more difficult to get back on tracks.

In the past years when I took breaks I usually played other games. The usual reason I took breaks is because of motivation issues. Either that, or because I felt I just needed one and wanted do something else. Eventually I would be in mood again to do things, and so I would be back.

As mentioned in the announcement thread of the game 'GunBound' I've been playing this game since 2007 and quit it finally around 2015 when things at a particular server just didn't go well anymore as I wanted.

Back then I started a project with our network admin phnx to start our own server, based on a game version never ran before, with a server emulator build from scratch. This was mentioned about 85% finished when the project got cancelled due to difficulty getting a playerbase, as well as a few other issues. After that (which was in 2013) I started play MapleStory again. The first time I played MapleStory servers was in 2008 on a server called 'LocalMS' which was Administrated by same owner as where i played GunBound on for many years

So as expected GunBound is still what I consider a game I have played for the most time, and if it wasn't for the shitty state of this game (horribly killed by p2w, and its a PvP game) its very likely I would still be playing there, which is why I want do another attempt at the project we initially started in 2013.

When it comes to Legends itself I haven't played it with a legit character for about 2 years now. This is once again something I observed is same for other owners, and to me its pretty normal. I have not much interest anymore when it comes to this game itself, to play, but still want run it. This is because it makes me happy when people are enjoying the game, making friends, and so on. I am still getting many messages of people they met here, etc. This alone makes it all worth it.

The message I want leave is that breaks happen everywhere. MapleLegends is not going anywhere, and will still be worked on when possible.

There's also some other irritations I have, but its related to other things. Example, I feel I am getting slowly stuck with what to do with MapleLegends. I feel people want the server to be easier and easier every year and complain to me its still too hard, while as we all observed by now the people that play here since 2016 feel its already much and much easier as it is. How much easier should it be?

The other issue is that we are slowly sandwiched with competition, and I consider all the servers we compete with right now are easier servers. Some people want us to implement things that other servers did (mostly related to washing), and other people want that. The userbase of MapleStory Private Servers get more and more separated every year, because more and more differences happen. One likes low rate, one likes high rate, one likes GMS-like but a bit custom, some like servers with boat skips, some like servers with anti-washing mechanics, and it goes on and on. Making everyone happy is getting more and more difficult, which gives me a feel that I am stuck with MapleLegends and have no clue which part of the user base I should make happy.

On top of that the global complain I get on top of it is that 'the community is too small' Instead of inviting users or trying advertise the server, the user quits because of this reason, which obviously doesn't resolve the problem! Of course there's also other complains, but I think you sort of get my point and concerns.

I may have forgot something, but this is what I felt like to write now. If there's things I forgot I probably edit it in.
