The thing this thread taught me was that people will clown you on discord and in game behind your back.

Why are people dogging on op so hard on discord and in game?

That's so sad and really immature in my opinion.
Forums are a place of discussion and different opinions, there's absolutely no reason to be that childish.

My response in another thread on this topic:
    To put it clearly:

There is no reason to gatekeep 30K behind an arduous and convoluted process that makes players think, "oh shit, I have to remake and leech through the game as an intcow this time?". It's even worse that purists jumpscare new or returning players with this concept during their initial playthrough, demotivating them and leading them to eventually quit entirely. I have played this server for over 10 years and have never partaken in this ridiculous and audacious concept.

The current washing system is completely nonsensical. To combat the negative experience I wrote of above, I suggested:

    - HP Token: A cash item that would allow a player to receive 5 washed AP's worth of HP for your class.
    - This item would cost the same amount of NX as 5 AP resets.
    - Thanks to the matching price, players who have put in the time and effort to vote for the past few years would remain rewarded; as nobody will be getting to 30K any sooner than they did. The same as you are not allowed to wash, you are not allowed to use this token after participating in HPC.
    - The only difference is that this gets rid of the "oh fuck, I have to remake", and the "oh fuck, I have to leech the whole way this time" jumpscares.
    - Game quality increases for anybody who plays PQs, since they don't have to deal with intcow leeches.
    - Player retention increases due to the remake-and-leech wall being removed, and server population increases.

Both sides win in this scenario. Do you think that this is a bad, or incomplete solution? I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Personally I like this solution as well. SlimeWink I also don't understand the reason to gatekeep 30kHP behind this exploit process that is very anti-fun for most players, but I do think 30kHP should be gatekept behind a very long process.

If I had to nitpick your solution, I think the new method should cost more NX than regular washing. (maybe 1.5x-2x total NX price) to reflect the big QOL improvement you get compared to regular/old washing. This way it would still give people a reason to wash the old way if they want to save time/NX. I think this is important because it respects the efforts that previous washers have put in, & some players seem to enjoy the 'planning' process involved in the current method.

Also I don't think the new method needs to be mutually exclusive with HP challenges like regular washing is, I think it's unfortunate that players who choose to work towards 30kHP will never see the HP washing quests, the quests look pretty interesting. It's a shame that the time & effort of staff to create these totally custom quests goes to waste if we have no reason to engage with them. IMO it would be fantastic if we could complete the HPC, allowing us to hit minimum viability to engage in bossing, and then be able to slowly progress towards 30k as a long term goal/ QOL improvement for our character (maybe 100HP per week, years to hit 30k)

I tried looking back at the Alpha, Beta, and Release threads to see if I could find anything staff have said related to the general ideas in this thread. I saw a comment that they capped warrior at 27k because the want HP equips to have some value. And I saw a comment from Kimmy in page 3 of the beta thread that the HPC is supposed to be for casuals only, but I don't know what the reasoning is behind this idea.

Personally, I don't understand the theory behind making players choose between the less fun method that encourages you to wait a long time before starting your character without any skill or luck required, vs play the more fun method which results in being perma-capped at 40%HP. Like, it totally makes sense that HPC only gives minimum viable HP to engage in bossing because its much easier than HP washing, but I don't see how it would hurt the server to let these characters make slow progress toward 30k instead of only allowing this QOL to players who chose to engage with this exploit. Open to hear what people think the most negative effects of this would be?

I'm guessing he hasn't engaged in washing because it looks very unenjoyable. Not because it's impossible for him to have done so due to NX restrictions. But maybe I'm wrong..

    An excellent observation.

I appreciate your engagement with the idea. I disagree with this take though, as players would chase the reduced price, meaning the removal of intcows wouldn't be as guaranteed.

It's interesting to discuss the design and potential solutions surrounding such a long-standing blight, as a remedy to this issue that doesn't discredit the work of prior washers would likely increase the playerbase as a whole over time, and make the game more enjoyable for many players to come.

This would devalue int equipment and leech services to name a few. It would also further decrease the point of HPC, since an easier way to get HP while being able to play kind of defeats it's purpose.

While, yes, your suggestions is a huge QoL improvement, it still needs to be balanced out for the economy and the HPC.

    From HPC beta thread:

This is the most information I could find about the intention behind HPC straight from Kimmy. It's clear that staff don't want a solution to be better than washing. Staff have decided its worth it to maintain the old washing process, which I think is fair based on the current state of the server. (people already washed, currently washing or in the middle of long washing plans)

From the above comments we see HPC is supposed to be for casual players and not min/maxers.

Also found this comment from Mirrors interesting
I think this implies that the HPC is mainly intended for new, casual players.

Naturally that leads me to think about what happens when a new casual player starts to become a more min/max player. At some stage in the pipeline there is going to be this really painful point where you are going to want to remake your character if you want to have more HP than the minimum requirement. I think it would make sense for HPC characters to unlock this slow process after lvl 180, if you made it to that level you're probably not a total casual anymore right?

Just to share a relevant anecdote from WoW Classic; I started playing that as a total casual, just enjoying the nostalgia, levelling and doing some random dungeons with people. I ended up making friends in those dungeons and actually went all the way to raiding with them, and got really hardcore into the game. I ended up main tanking a raid group for a speed-running guild on my server (Link to my old character for any wow classic players MapleF2).
Anyway, the point is, if I had to remake my character at some point between being a total casual and being a hardcore raider, there is a good chance I would have just quit the game before I got to experience any of that. The pipeline for a lot of hardcore MMO players starts as a casual player, and they slowly get more into the game. It seems like staff already agree that the washing process is tedious, and not much fun for most people. I feel like there could be a compromise that allows HPC challenge characters to slowly work towards 30k while using NX that would just make the game better, probably get more people to vote, with really not much down-side as far as I can tell. Can anyone think of major downsides to this?

level has nothing to do with whether one is casual or not. i have multiple 200s and i only play this game casually. 1-175 can easily take between 1 month (mage) or ~2 months (leeched).

the downside is goalposts will move and we will have a new thread that instead asks for a road to 30k mp

Fair enough, I guess what is considered casual is subjective. But my broader point in that comment stands.

As to goalposts moving, so what? If a suggestion is deemed to be bad then it should be ignored, and if it's deemed to be good then it should be implemented. Applying this logic would lead to being against any changes whatsoever because the goalposts move and people will want other things. That's just inherent to any game that has updates.

Is there any other major downsides you can think of?

leech - honestly I don't think leech would take a huge hit, as players will likely continue to find use in it purely for convenience. this is anecdotal, though, since I don't know the percentage of players who leech completely for the sake of leeching as opposed to the percentage that leeches for the sake of convenience

washing gear - an almost unavoidable plummet in the value of intgear is an impact worth a little thought. unless there's a 'best of both worlds' solution that hasn't been thought of yet, it probably comes down to a matter of weighing the scales between (obsolescence of intlording, increased player retention VS. reduced cost of washing gear). from my own, biased perspective, i'd definitely choose the QoL over having washing gear retain high prices, though I can understand why players wouldn't want their exhaustively created perfect washing gear to suddenly lose a chunk of its value.

hpc - I felt that HPC would retain usefulness as a way to viably access the endgame without having to wait 2 years, pretty much giving you something to do as you cultivate a longer-term character. HPC currently serves pretty much the same purpose currently, so I don't think much changes on this front

pretty good points that i didn't consider before, honestly probably more to be said on the topic regarding the economic impact of an intgear price drop... would be interested to hear more educated thoughts on the matter
