My laptop crashed on me a couple days ago and haven't been able to get it working again (rip exp)
First what happened was this: https://youtu.be/FJa89SugNu8 ,
After my dad messed around a bit that was solved, but I was back at Windows 8.0.
Now when trying to reinstall Windows 8.1 to get to Windows 10, it keeps messing up.
It gets to 98% of configurating the windows updates, then fails.
It'll tell me there was an error whilst configurating and it's getting rid of the changes tjat the update made.
This has happened multiple time now even though I (my dad) havw tried multiple things to fix this.
If anyone has dealt with this before or knows wtf is wrong, help would be greatly appreciated.
I can't let Charlobeetle get too much of a lead on me Kappa

You're better off google searching any error codes or other symptoms to find a solution. It's pretty hard to diagnose a computer without seeing it in person.

I'm not good with computers. Do you have to update to Windows 10 or could you just keep it on Windows 8 until you get a replacement?

I miss you on my BL chat 24/7. It's so quiet now.

Does it work fine with windows 8? If so, just don't upgrade. Windows 10 isn't that great anyway.

Don't I NEED Windows 8.1? The struggle is with updating Win 8.0 to 8.1, haven't even gotten to the Win 10 part.

Or just send it in for repair...
Could be fucking anything dude. Are there any errors? Or does it just get stuck?
Could be faulty hardware, or corrupt software. Try restore the system to an earlier backup and try again.

If nothing works then it's probably hardware problems, in which case you can send it in for repair if you still have warranty and they will replace faulty hardware and factory reset it for you.

Try downgrading to W7 then go straight to 8.1. :D

Possible motherboard crash. When a windows stalls at startup, the problems usually point to hard drive motherboard problems. I only know this because i OC'd this extra computer, and when it shuts off, sometimes when rebooting, it'll stall at windows logo or it won't load a certain thing. It's all luck @__@ I'd advise you to either take it in for a fix or scrap and chuck

Okay, if you can provide us with a link as to what laptop it was (can't see anything except ASUS in that video)

If you have stuff on the laptop you want to keep, best thing to do is to take it apart and get the hard drive, then use another computer to transfer files over.
(Be careful of malware though, I wouldn't recommend transferring over any .exe files, of course though malware can be bound to other files)

Think back to what you did before the restart, if you downloaded anything, updated any drivers, or if it just crashed on 'completely randomly' and tell us

    ----

Since you might be throwing the laptop out anyway, you can try spamming F9/F8 when you see the ASUS logo, (hopefully) that should take you to the recovery mode, do the windows setup recovery, select your language and etc. - for the partition part, it's hard to determine what is on your harddrive if you don't have access to it, so if you don't mind about your old files, just select "recover windows to entire harddrive" which should delete everything else and create a new partition on your HD.

The above method should work. Be warned that it will remove everything you have on the laptop and replace it all with factory settings/files. If you want to recover files, then take the laptop apart and grab your files from the HD onto another computer before using the method, or all data will be lost :(

So, is the laptop working on Windows 8, but you just want W10?

If the laptop boots and works on W8, then there are other things you can try, I assumed though that it wasn't booting at all.

Well your mistake was using windows :roflmao:
Also, if you use windows, it's always good to reinstall your computer at least once a year. Especially when you're getting errors like these.
