The two cases are different, and you have to factor in # of hits to kill as well. Yes, Qualms give less exp than Oblivions, but they have less hp too (100k for chief qualms vs. 140k for chief oblivions). With an ele wand, amp, and the 1.5x element weakness, its understandable to say f/p mages could one hit Qualms (idk mages that much haha so idk can they do that and what level?). Oblivions, on the other hand, seem very difficult to one hit even if there was an elemental weakness, considering they have more hp and blizzard is weaker than meteor.

Plus, having an ice weakness helps out a bit other classes besides mages who get gypped by tot mobs being weak to fire but not ice (marksmen :p)

Ok, this is interesting. Seems more like it was a true "fix", however, since obviously if a mob's attack looks to be some kind of elemental damage, the skills people invest in should affect the damage accordingly.

As for whether these mobs should be weak to ice? I dunno. I guess I wouldn't mind, but then why are they weak to poison? FoxF6

Something still makes me think it was all designed this way on purpose...

Oblivion mobs are not weak to poison, they are immune to poison, can confirm since my venom does not work on them.

Very strange since prebb Hiddenstreet says they're weak against poison attacks

Actually: the oblivion mobs ARE weak to poison element. I have tested this with poison mist and element composition. They can be poisoned and even take 150% damage from the poison element.

So something is wrong with the venom stars skill itself.

I've heard Venom doesn't work against them on not just this server but many others. Possibly because the mobs are considered bosses? I don't know. :l

Bosses wouldn't be the issue since any boss tagged as one will have no name or a boss bar, afaik.

Thanatos and Gatekeeper are bosses but have the normal HP bars AFAIK.

Actually. I just sealed Gatekeeper. Haven't actually fought a thanatos ever on this server, but I know for a fact that Seal doesn't work on anything that's truly considered a "boss".

...that's not even a "buff". Blizzard and gen benefit from the same effect too.

Also consider that none of the qualm mobs have above 99k HP. SOOO, that's also a reason damage cap doesn't mean a darn thing here.

prior to the patch both classes could reach cap with their AOE attacks now Meteor Shower will reach way higher than Blizzard will (weakness aside)

How? In this database I'm looking at, they have exactly the same progression. Only blizzard freezes too.

    https://maplestory48489.wordpress.com/?s=arch+mage

Other sites show blizzard at 600 max power and meteor with a whopping 20 extra power for 620. Big whoop. But I don't think they're accurate anyway, seeing as their MP costs do not match up with what we see in game.

Even if blizzard truly does less damage, I think you should just suck it up seeing as all the mobs freeze and leave you pretty much unscathed through all your grinding.

I know now why they made the monsters weak to poison there. It is to compensate f/p archmages who want to train there. Since the monsters are already strong against fire, a meteor grind wont work there. But you can still grind there using paralyze, since the monster weakness against poison. An i/l archmage dont have to complain about that the monsters dont have the ice weakness, because they can already spam a good blizzard there.
