We need a brainstorm thread to make the island more active.

I thought the whole point of islanders was the fact that staying on maple island drastically reduced their available content.

 

The only thing which wouldn't be game-breaking, but still a bit nostalgia-breaking in terms of people starting off & not making islanders, would be to implement face changes.

Another idea I'll put forward, just for the sake of argument, is to implement maple weapons that would disappear after you leave the island (so as to not introduce them to other players). Of course there are a plethora of things wrong with this, it's very worth discussing.

Match cards and Omok games wouldn't hurt anyone

 

Is the issue content or population? Maybe our islanders left because other maple islands are more populated? I don't think gimmicks like scrolls that can't come off the island will hold attention for long. I could be wrong though.

 

Island bosses? This would give people an incentive to level islanders. I just wouldn't have them drop anything too good since you could farm them there and drop trade it to another character you just made and take it off of the island.

 

So I asked a Maple Island Skype group for their opinion...

Core islanders? Are you joking? No one plays islanders as their mains. And for good reason.

 

I am no islander, but i would support this idea.

I suppose over time one could make a slime&mush/pig omok set while on the island, since these are the omok-dropping mobs available.
These, and droppable monster cards could be exchanged at a game-npc somewhere on the island.

This might give a little goal to reach for besides the regular playing, which would not hurt anyone indeed.

 

I really don't think there are enough islanders on at the same time to make omok sets even matter much if at all. If I want to play omok/match cards, I'll do so on my main. Besides, you need to play it with someone else, not sit there and wait for someone and hope someone else is on their islander to play with you...

 

The problem with THAT is not that there isnt enough content, but simply not enough islanders

 

If there were more fun content that would be an incentive to make more islanders thus solving that problem. That was what I was getting at and I even said the solution...
AKA: Why would I spend time somewhere receiving the same content at a much less fun way. Islanders should have un-accessed content since it takes longer to level. A level 50 boss would prevent lower lvl characters from being able to kill it and would give people a reason to play Islanders. I don't think two the levels are going to matter too much when fighting the boss since the difference in Islanders at later levels will make less and less of a difference. Aka greater damage damage gap between a lvl 50 and 60 islander then it is with a lvl 60 and 70 islander despite them both being 10 levels apart.

 

I like this idea. The island has Mushroom and Stumps galore. Why not add Stumpy + Mushmom to possible mobs spawn on Maple Island? Would give islanders a nice couple bosses to go after to get some scrolls and improve their gear/ a new challenge.

The point I was trying to make is that it would be pointless.

 

You could even throw in wgs as a low rate drop and start scrolling wgs on maple island. That would be interesting to see someone wearing some 10 att wgs on the island.

 

It wouldn't be as challenging with all these things ya'll want on the Island lol personally I'd get bored of it and quit forever.
