An NPC that sell ITCG-related items

Discussion in 'Rejected' started by JohnCena, May 19, 2015.

Should they be obtained via shop, lottery, or both?

  1. Shop

  2. lottery (a la gachapon)

  3. Both!

From what I understand, there currently are some un-obtainable items (white versal mateira, and all of the weapons that would be craftable with it), and the rest of the ITCG items seem to be rare drops from un-specified monsters "around NLC". I think adding an NPC to sell the ITCG base materials would be a great addition to the server, for three reasons

1: It allows players to go the extra mile to craft a cool looking weapon (I personally want the nebula dagger)

2: It helps combat inflation by taking mesos out of circulation, and

3: It adds more items to the economy

The way i propose that this would work would be to have an NPC in NLC that either
    A) Sells you the components you want at a set price,
    B) Charges you a set price for a random component, or
    C) Does both

Now, some of the more OP items could either fetch an astonishing price, be a stupendously low chance to obtain, or just be omitted from the system entirely.

If we were to go with option A (or C), I have prepared a list of potential prices for the base materia: (Edit: A lot of this is way too cheap, we'd need to have a community vote on the prices)

White Versal Materia - 1,000,000 Mesos
Black Versal Materia - 500,000 Mesos
    Dark Matter - 100,000 Mesos
    Vorticular Gyro - 100,000 Mesos
    Zeta Residue - 250,000 Mesos
    Blinking Dingbat - 100,000 Mesos
    Taru Totem - 500,000 Mesos
Naricain Jewel - ??????? (Crystal illbi material)
    Mystic Astrolabe - 50,000 Mesos
    Antellion Relic - 1,000,000 Mesos
    Subani Ankh - 100,000 Mesos
    LeFay Jewel - 500,00 Mesos
    Phaoro's Wrappings - 100,000 Mesos
    Stone Tiger's head - 250,000 Mesos
    Typhon's Crest - 500,000 Mesos
Crystal Shard - ????????? (Crystal Illbis)
Ridley's Book of Rituals- 150,000 Mesos
    Ancient Faceguard - 500,000 Mesos
    Ancient Gi - 500,000 Mesos
    Ancient Boots - 500,000 Mesos
    Ancient Helmet - 500,000 Mesos
    Ancient Armour - 500,000 Mesos
    Ancient Grieves - 500,000 Mesos
    Akha - 100,000 Mesos
    Xaru - 100,000 Mesos
    Kuma - 100,000 Mesos
    Maku (LUK) - 100,000 Mesos
    Maku (STR) - 100,000 Mesos
    Umaru - 100,000 Mesos
    Taru Spirit Cape - ?????? (Maybe 10m?)

All of these prices are derived from the items they create

tl;dr ITCG Materials should be sold by an NPC, at a set price for reasons stated above

sounds good imo( from shop, gacha is unstable nuff already imo ), at least this would make it possible to get ITCG items

also prices should be a bit more expensive imo, at least 1m+ for the cheap things if this gets added ( else the fully crafted items won`t have that much value )

The thing is, you need a lot of other materials to craft the stuff, weapons require 7 black crystals, facestompers require 50 (yes 50!) steel plates and then some.

It needs to be expensive/hard to get for a reason. if its to easy to get everyone will have them and no one will be afraid to scroll them and they will also get a really low value ( i don`t want to see facestompers being worth 500k or some other bullshit price due to them being to easy to get, better to make them to hard to get at first and then make it easier if its to hard )

this^, and black crystal ores drop at gs2
so easy to get both (x

Sounds interesting, but prices will need to go way up if implemented.

I would hate to see these items sold via NPC. Events or maybe in (the already broken) gachapon would be better.

I'd rather have this system instead of through social media. At least this way you have to put in SOME effort rather than just getting the items handed to you.

Huh? Is there an exchange quest for steel plates? Where?

You need to be more dedicated to the server in order to get it from social media. This way is just more boring grind. The social media adds some flavour.

Except that it gives powerful items to people who haven't necessarily earned them. A level 10 could get a pair of facestompers through that method. I think playing the game shows more dedication than browsing social media..

It may be a boring grind but maplestory is MEANT to be a boring grind. The game is grindy. That's the nature of it.

I'd like iTCG to remain super rare at least, so either via what Navi has planned, or dumping it in gach at rare rates, or maybe even distributing it as the occasional event rewards.

what on earth is a level 10 going to do with a pair of facestompers anyway
also if someone has only played this server to level 10 they probably wont follow maplelegends on social media
    whatever, agree to disagree

Also I think they were only gonna release iTCG components through media, not the entire item at one go. So you'd have to grab a few codes before you have enough to forge an item. And the number of components released can be controlled, so if a level 10 manages to forge something, then good for him. At least not every level 10 is getting it.

Anyways I see iTCG as special items, I believe they were somehow obtained by purchasing NX or something, so if they were released in Legends I would rather it be some special and rare method to get it, so people would treasure their iTCG stuff more, and so that we don't see 15 WA SCGs popping up everywhere so quickly.

I don't like facebook and twitter. I think it's enough that everyone gets free gash and there's enough items being handed out that have nothing to do to gameplay.

So this suggestion does seem reasonable, although I think the prices will have to be continually adjusted over time.

Even more alternatives would be to put them as rare high level mob drops, maybe even only during certain event periods, or distributed through forum events instead of social media. Any of those I suggested would be much better than simply putting them up for sale in an NPC, since iTCG stuff are meant to be more OP than normal items of their levels (that's why it is exclusive in GMS). Plus, NPC shops only sell low level equipment, higher ones have to be crafted with materials that need to be farmed (not bought from NPC), so iTCG should at least follow a similar route, i.e. components should be farmed from drops or obtained from some other unique ways (which is closer to how GMS did it), rather than just buying them with mesos.

That said, that is assuming iTCGs are coming in in the first place. Hardly see them around in old maple, so hopefully they don't end up too common like gach rewards if they are implemented.

You guys are focusing way too heavily on the OP stuff like facestompers and Cillbis. Most of the itcg stuff is far from overpowered, and a mere cosmetic change from the usual equips of their level. I could go out into the FM right now, and I'm sure I'd be able to find a level 70 dagger clean for under 1 mil.
For each OP piece of itcg (read: stomcasters. cillbis, and facestompers), theres at least three pieces of trash itcg (the antilion miter is a perfect example).
There's no reason why we couldn't keep the more op stuff as event only, but we should be able to craft the more useless stuff if we feel so inclined.

I agree completely. The prices I listed were based on what similar gear would cost

You're underestimating "stomcasters. cillbis, and facestompers". Those three items alone are enough to negate your entire argument.

Neva is a slightly superior version of Bracer.
Infinity Circlet is a combination of Purple Wisconsin + Brown Bamboo. Glitter Gloves is similar to YWG.

Not sure about the rest off the top of my head, but if there are strictly trashy items then maybe they alone could be opened up for sale or farming, but then if they are trashy not many people would want them.

But for the three I mentioned above, while they aren't super OP as with Stormcasters and friends, they are still good or slightly better replacements of existing items, so they are worthy to be used as event rewards or some other form of distribution, as opposed to simply buying them, since in some cases like Neva, its counterpart Bracer is gach only.
