it IS off-topic because you are talking about other games. ML do not block VMs.

no logs or screenshot is useless information when comes to debugging, unless one has already solve the issue before.

also he/she said "I don't think", hence it is fair for me to assume he/she has not tried at the point of writing

 

are there any error codes that appears in the installation?
if you can provide a screenshot, that would help too

 

I only mentioned "other games" because a lot of VMware don't have support to run games. However Kimmy already implied that there - shouldn't be any problems running the game (ML) on VMware. (again, I get things from a source. I don't mind being wrong, if I am wrong I learn something from it and use that as a new source to help others with.)
