Back to Maple Roots: Reliving the Grind, One Quest at a Time

I’m excited to finally jump back into MapleStory after a long break. I originally played between 2004 and 2009, starting out as an Assassin, which I leveled to around 100~110, before switching over to an Ice/Lightning Mage that reached about level 60. Back then, leveling was such a grind, but it made every level-up feel so rewarding. I remember when Targa and Scarlion were released, I spent months grinding to save up 20 million mesos for a carry and a shot at the helm, which I never actually got. Good times!

Eventually, I shifted over to WonderKing since that’s what my close friends were playing, but MapleStory has always been the game that stuck with me the most, even after all these years.

Now that my kids are getting curious about the games I used to play, I decided to look up MapleStory and ended up discovering MapleLegends. From what I’ve seen, it sounds like a great community and a faithful way to relive that old-school MapleStory experience. So here I am, ready to dive back in!

This time, I’m planning to make a Night Lord and probably another Ice/Lightning Mage for nostalgia’s sake. I loved doing quests and exploring storylines back then, so I’ll likely take it slow, enjoy the grind, and reconnect with that classic Maple experience. I never focused much on meta builds like single stat character or things like HP washing (which I hear is popular now), so I’m still figuring out whether to go low DEX (for the NL) or just play normally and get the gear with time, or maybe even try out a Bishop, Bowmaster, or Hero, who knows where the nostalgia will take me!

I remember using the HiddenStreet website and reading through Ayumilove’s (if i remember correctly) guides to navigate everything back in the day. It’s wild to think how much the community has evolved, and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone here, chatting about all things Maple, and hopefully finding a few good quest buddies.
