yes, we are still out there. i run 32 bit win XP with service pack 2. i was really hoping to play maplelegends on my ancient laptop, and installation went smoothly. but whenever i run the .exe the following message appears:

[maplelegends.exe - entry point not found]
the procedure entry point GetFileInformationByHandleEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

i tried both windowed and fullscreen, i don't know what else to try.
i understand the absurdity of asking the devs to support an obsolete OS but retrogaming goes hand in hand with retro machines ;P

    thank you for your time!

From what I have read online, XP Service Pack 3 should have it - not anything before that though.

Edit - eitherway, you need to have KERNEL32.dll on your computer for this to work Foxpat

Hi Krisspy, thank you for your reply.
(although it's been high up my to do list) i installed SP3 and tried running maplelegends. it returned the same error message. a search through the hard drive reveals two files named kernel32.dll (notably in lowercase, where the error message mentions the filename in uppercase). they are respectively located at c:\WINDOWS\system32 and c:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. both files are 967kb in size. i forgot to search before installing SP3.

a reinstall of maplelegends has not changed the situation by the way.
thanks for looking into it :)

I know this is not quite what you asked but your PC should be able to run antiX Linux (system requirements are 32-bit processor, 256 mb of RAM, and 5gb HDD space) and antiX can run MapleLegends via WINE. It will probably be slower than running it on Windows, maybe too slow, but it does work. You could try it on a USB drive and see if it works for you.
