Guide for MAC Dec23 "Failed to Run Python"

Hi

Haven't played in 2 years and curiosity go the best of me to just log back in. Not sure how to navigate the CrossOver aspect now.

I'm on a Mac Book Pro / Sonoma
I downloaded the updated ML Client for MAC
I downloaded CrossOver (the one recommended in guide 21-0-0)
I paid for an Cross Over account (yolo)

When I try to run maple, this is the error I get:

CrossOver is unable to initialize a critical component.
Failed to run Python script '/Applications/CrossOver 2.app/Contents/Resources/libcxsetupbase.py'. See console for errors.
The program will now exit.

Any tips?

update:
tried to download crossover 23.7.1. I bypass the above error but then when i click maple icon I get a different error
"There is no windows program configured to open this type of file"
