Game Closes before I can make a Character

Have you tried running MapleLegends in windows 98/me compatiblity?

(If you do not know how to do it. Here goes; You go to the MapleLegends folder. You look for MapleLegends.exe. Right click on it, then click on properties. A new window should appear with 4 tabs up top, one of them called compatibility. Click that and look which settings allows you to adjust it to Windows 98/me compatibility mode.)

 

Since the report is pretty vague, there are a few options as to why (and when) your client may crash. Here are a few possibilities I can think of right now.

1. You disconnect while choosing style/equipments for your character.
   Although this would most likely crash your client with an 'invalid pointer' exception, it's possible you're not using our files to play.
   If this is the case I suggest you redownload the entire setup file from the download section of our website.
2. You disconnect when click 'Check' (name checking) or 'Ok' (character creation).
   In this case it's probably something in our source code that triggers your client to crash.
   This would need to be verified by Navi. But please tell if you crash when you actually hit a button, and which one.
3. None of the above.
   It might be possible your connection times out and makes you disconnect, this would show you connection error though. When you've entered
   your password and click 'login' does it take a while to get shown the world selection?

 

Try closing all processes that are non-essential. There is a possibility a background application causes inteference and closes the client. Best way to do this is boot with nothing but core windows files and then attempt to login. If the client doesn't crash it'd be the background process. Then distinguish which it is by process of elimination.

 

Uhm for me it was a problem with my antivirus basically whenever i was logged in it would completely kick me out within a few minutes and i would get no error and no ad that is supposed to show up after you log out. What i finally did that worked was go to my antivirus right click and hit "Shut down Protection" which completly turns off the antivirus and i dont get the dc's when i do that. When i log out i can just turn the antivirus back on.
