Notice Harassment and you

Lately we've had an increase of harassment reports and 'harassment' in general. Back when I started the server I always saw most of these reports as very petty cases that could easily just be solved by ignoring each other or moving on.

... and I still do honestly.

This is what our sticky guidelines say about harassment in the report section:

So let's remind on a couple things:

- When someone annoys you, ask the person to stop in a nice and polite way. If the person doesn't, take screenshots WITHOUT REPLYING and report all of it to us with the chatbox completely open. We would love it to be completely open* so we can see if you indeed didn't reply and not try hide things from us, such as irritating the person just to get a reaction. Doing so will also land you in a ban.
*Completely opening meaning; NO CROPPING. Many players cropped screenshots of chats on purpose just to turn the situation into their favor, by doing so, it sometimes twist the facts around which can lead to a different outcome.

- Outdated harassment reports are void. There are times where someone will report things that are a few weeks old. If you were harassed, report it within the same day. We allow a time frame up to 48 hours. Harassment cases usually happened due to petty fights, people usually forget something even happened, which makes us taking action on it only more awkward for the person.
Exception: Gathering screenshots from old to new to report about same harassment that started long ago and is still on-going.

- Do not report just to get people banned. Sometimes people take pettiness to the next level and report purely to get users banned. If you are not insulted and the harassment was mild at best, please don't report it. One 'idiot' or 'f bomb' is not enough to be taken as harassment. Harassment is when it continues even after you asked the harasser to stop, or when you are directly stalked/spammed with PM's.

We are all here to play an Old School MapleStory server. The best option is just to have fun, play the way you want to play, and leave the ones you like a bit lesser alone. That way you can be happy, they can be happy, and we are wasting less of our time on (usually) petty reports.
